  1. JDM's are 80L...........mine is and my manual states it too.....oh and my wallet knows it at fill up time.
  2. The reason the fan motors fail is that the 4 carbon brushes stick in their holders..its a very easy job to dismantle the motors and 'dress' the carbon brushes with a needle file and hey presto they are as good as new........did it on my Zed, 30 minute to get the fans off then 15 mins each motor...simples!
  3. Sandpaper goes in the bottom of a Budgie cage.......
  4. The fan motor issue is not so bad its just the brushes that get stuck in their holder... takes 5 minutes to free them (there is 4)thats all
  5. check your oil as the zed takes more than a 4.5L can from memory its 4.6?L
  6. There is plenty of adjustment to stop any wind noise, not only can you adjust height but more importantly you can adjust how much the window kicks in at the top...its easy just remove the door card and make the adjustments...10-15 mins tops.
  7. Its real easy.....but allow 1-2 hours...try and find the guide too, but in fact its quite intuative.
  8. Today I have an overheating issue during a traffic jam.....noticed before it got real hot and put the heater on, opened windows etc and fortunatley the jam cleared and the temperature dropped. When home I checked the fans with the engine idling..the drivers side one came on but the passenger side didnt.. i tried various heater/aircon settings but it still didnt fire up... BUT i did notive that if 'gingerly I helped it it would slowly rotate. I guess this is not normal and the fan needs changing or? cleaning? any advice please. The JDM has 65000miles under its belt. Thanks in advance.
  9. Yes I think so but they are mostly standard... I got a couple from ebay for £2 each...althogh I havent fitted one yet as I simply removed the NRV and put in a joining barb as a tempoary fix and it all works fine...maybe too good if the water/screen wash consumption gets a bit much...anyways the bore diameter of the tube is either 4mm or 5mm. go to ebay and search for screen washer NRV......worth having a couple in stock
  10. There is only one NRV (Non Return Valve) for the front screen wipers, the Y piece is just a branch that goes to each wiper after the NRV. BTW I dont remember hearing the pump on mine when sitting in the car and trying it!! But tell you what with the NRV taken out and just a straight connector you get a good flow...in fact there has not been any noticeable delay due to lack of NRV...but I will replace it when it arrives..
  11. Just checked my NRV and it was more of a restrictor than a NRV..replaced it temporarily with a straight barb and my god there a good jet now....streaming... so new one on order. Oh and its nice and clean around the bottom of the screen now! So often I think how would i deal with these sort of things if I couldn't share thoughts etc with othr like minded people...Such a great help ALWAYS
  12. How easy is it to get at the pumps? just wondering as my windscreen one is a bit on the weak side compared to how it used to be!
  13. Dont expect a code reader to work if its an import.. unless you spend 1000's..but the cars comes with one anyway... search on here and you'll find out how.
  14. Mine had codes like that too including miss fire left bank, lean running, and communication failure..etc etc..and it was a leaf on the maf
  15. I had all this a 18 months ago...it all seemed to be a bit of a disaster...garages confirmed the codes and said could be this that and another and could cost several days labour..etc etc etc. Anyways I investigated and to cut a long story short found a small bit of leaf wraped round the MAF sensor...... this I removed and no more lights and good smooth idle. I think the previous owner must of quickly removed the air filter to bang out the dust etc and inadvertantly allowed a bit of leaf to get on the MAF sensor...anyways as its so easy to get to and clean its worth a try. Mines been perfect ever since...Good luck
  16. Yes I still have my MGBGT...and have owned it for 35 years. Not had much use over the last 15 years....300 miles a year typical. Too many experiences in it to ever think about selling and just beginning to become less common.
  17. I hope you get sorted...but do be aware that insurance companies really push 50:50 nowdays. My wife had a guy drive into the back of her whilst she was indicating and starting to turn right..write the car off and just over two years later we have received half the excess backmeaning the insurance went for 50:50 AFTER I said go to court......(ELEPHANT) I just got sick of it all like most do I guess. SO I hope you dont get the same treatment ..best of luck
  18. Cant see what the throttle body has to do with traction control and slip lights...... but no harm in cleaning it I guess!!! dont expect it to have any effect on your dash lights though
  19. I wouldn't...just change the oil very regular... I usually leave the oil in most of my cars for UPTO 1000 miles only..the Zed is different it gets a change every 4000. So no dont do it I feel its a bit of a hangover from the 50's. BTW hows the jag any opinions yet?
  20. Try cleaning the Maf sensor...... mine had a rough idle but was okay with aircon on. eventually found the Maf sensor had a bit of leaf in and around the hot wire element... cleaned it and the idle improved and no need for aircon to be on.... idle now totally reliable all this 15,000 miles ago. Worth a try...use brake cleaner or switch cleaner...(unless you too have a leaf!!!!!) Good luck
  21. MGB GT.... and still got it ...32 years on
