  1. I run my jdm of regular petrol with no known issues ..28mpg on a reasonable run, smooth running etc..... bearing in mind I get through £100 of petrol per week the added expense of the higher octane fuel would add up...... so regular fuel shouldn't be an issue in my opinion
  2. Cant see how changing the differential oil effects the gearbox........ The issue with copper based bearings is that the EP oils corrode /effect the copper element in Phospher/bronze (copper based) bearind when they get very hot... so mainly an issue with 1020's cars as they have phospher bronze bearings in g/box and diff ...oh and laycock overdrive units (MGB) In conclusion change the oil as its a good kind thing to do but use the right stuff...its not difficult now..
  3. Change it..it only takes 10 minutes.......and do the gear box too you can do all the oils in an hour...oh so easy.
  4. Okay so it does match. So K25 (silver effect) is the code located under the bonnet and probably elswhere if you can read Japanese. still dont know the name of the colour though..but so what..at least the stones chips can be touched in and they nearly disappear
  5. So I have ordered the K25 colour......when it arrives I will tell of the results......one thing for sure Blade Silver is not the light (aluminium) silver of my car...and many others.
  6. I know this may be of no help but I would go round every plug and socket I could find and pull them apart maybe clean especially if there looks to be damp corrossion etc and re plug back together, The logic controll on auto electrics is all low voltage so very prone to poor contact.. so could well be down to the water you went through a while back...also may go away on its own.....come to think of it it also may get worse, then it may be easier to trace.... thats all.. good luck and lets us all know when you find the problem...
  7. Okay so had a good look again and found a legable code under the bonnet K25G does this mean anything to anyone? The more I think about it the more inclined I am that I dont know the colour of my car..
  8. Ah Mr Biscuit...now you have seen my car.. from memory it was much lighter than yours so if your Zed was called Blade Silver mine cant be...so what are the silver colour options ...anyone?
  9. I have the very light silver coloured zed, for the last year I have thought the colour was called Blade Silver...but blade silver touch up doesn't match...much to dark.... can anyone tell me the name and code of the really light silver colour. My Zed is a 2003 import so the colour code is in Japanese. I now wonder if its called Silver Alloy? any help appreciated as I need to touch in some chips etc......thank you in anticipation..
  10. Come on guys... the clutch on the 350z is not so bad.. if you are struggling to pull away smoothly then there is either something wrong or you just need to practice clutch control.......but the zed's clutch is not difficult.
  11. You get what you pay for... no such thing as a bargain. If its under priced then there will be a reason for it. Oh and wealthy folks are often the tightest. Sorry but caveat emptor.........
  12. Ethanol.....or IPA anything else will cause smearing
  13. Frosts do a plastic polish that is much finer than G5 search for perspex polish on the Frost web site...maybe of interest..Brasso is pretty good too with plastics..oh use lint free fine cloth though and water.
  14. 10 minute job, IF THE BOLTS UNDO, if they dont get the grinder out but so what if you are replacing them...yep dead easy.
  15. DO IT YOURSELF ITS EASY AND SAVE £££'s
  16. If it does that then there is something very wrong. There is a long list of things clutch related that it could be ...including clutch plates sticking and or slave cylinder personally i wouldn't wait till you either burn out the clutch plate or get stuck with no drive..... need investigating asap...sorry but thats my opinion. please let us know what is is when you find out. good luck.
  17. Rx8.. oil burner and very poor mpg.. the Zed is much better in most respects and not a pretend 4 seater . I get 28 mpg on a round trip commute of 50 miles a day on a good run 30 mpg is quite possible if you dont go mad ... sounds good too. I have to say the Zed is a good all round fun car thats not excessive to run and own...Oh and very easy to service yourself....
  18. It's not in Sawston but there is a Azure one about....
  19. I doubt it will work on jdm cars... nothing does unless its the Nissan Consort.(its called something like that anyway) I have not found one that works having bought several ones that are under £100......BUT there is one for free and it comes with the car...It does work too, sorry but you will have the search here for the link to how to do it but trust me there is no point spending a penny on a reader when you can read and reset the codes with the inbuilt one.
  20. Strongly agree..... my window work so much better after a clean on the commutator well worth doing this and its easy too.
  21. Could try a Bicycle pump or car foot pump to blow out any debris..... maybe a can of switch cleaner.

    rusty!

I have a JDM 2003 Zed and it has no noticable corrosion underneath at all and above the rear silencer box is rust free.... I would do your best to clean it off then treat with Jenolite followed by wax oil. Can't see its too much to worry about though just annoying once you find it!!
  23. Now ...recording the flashing lights sound like a real good idea...that way you can replay it at leasure to get the code(s)..I like that idea. As you say its not hard to do....ITS FREE TOO
  24. If you can master this you'll be a star........not aware anyone has come up with a cost effective way of reading the codes using a scanner...BUT of course there is always the other option which comes free with the car.....and its easy to do once you have done it... I use a stop watch. There is plenty of info here how to read the codes .....use the search function? It does work. and remember its free
