  1. Mine (late 2003) doesnt use any at all over 5000 miles and I wouldnt do much over 5000 before changing the oil as its easy to do and costs very little!
  2. Thought my exhaust had gone to, its been blowing for a week or so anyways had a 'spare' and fitted it, BUT the reason for the noise was in actual fact a gasket...ie £3:00. However having swapped an original JDM system for a UK system its well worth it, the UK system does sound different...better, not real louder but more rorpy much nicer. If you decide to change it yourself ( why wouldn't you!!) make sure you have some new nuts M10 fine pitch....and gaskets 2.5" dia. (4 gaskets £10 and 50 nuts £10 ebay) save yourself and do it yourself.
  3. I find the Zed practical and inexpensive to run and am past worrying about 4 seats...wifes car does that! Ive still got the car I had when 18...thats 33 years and still like it although its become a bit familiar now!
  4. If you want a good job done and save mome dollar then why not do it yourself.. changing the front discs and pads on the Zed is oh so easy.....if you can change a wheel you can do it ...
  5. Just a thought...sell your Zed and get ? say £15000 then buy an older import for £8000 still have a Zed and a bit of cash to pay off some debt. You've seen mine... pretty much A1 with 46000 miles and a private plate thrown in for £8500... worth a thought. Oh and start making wrought iron gates at lunchtime...........
  6. Also consider that perspex is affected by UV...it crazes over time if left in the Sun. I imagine no great problem, but would be careful with any oil based product (maybe WD40 for cleaning) and not to leave the hood up in the Sun for too long...just a thought!
  7. Depends when you retire...... My aim is to retire at mid-life..then play with cars and motorbikes. I still have one of my cars I had when a teenager...now I'm grey and sooo old (51 ). the car looks just the same as it alway has but me... well Ive changed in looks but not in mind!
  8. My JDM has the seat belt extension support thingys and the self tightening business...Oh and BTW some say JDM's have a small petrol tank but mine is 80L...that not so small
  9. +1 So much help and advice. This forum has really made a massive positive difference to owning my Zed. Its a gold mine of information and thanks must go to the people that give their time to organise and support it. I for one say Thank you!!
  10. You wont get a better and more useful forum with any other make... for sure be different get a Zed
  11. I think Rich meant 1200 grade wet and dry NOT 200...... So its 1200 grade and lots of water...then resparay in colour as you are bound to rub through to the primer coats ( you did use primer??) then when you get an even slightly matt finish apply the laquer. If by chance you have not cleaned and primed first I wouldnt bother with laquer yet as you may find its not worth the time as it'll peel off eventually. Does look good though
  12. Okay if the air bags dont fire...... then its BAD news for the child. Really this is well dangerous in the unlucky event of a impact that sets off the air bag.
  13. My advice is to do it yourself... its all soooo easy and you'll save 100's plus gain some experience...even this so called big service is just so simple.... just make sure you get the right oils! really its easy
  14. I'd recommend changing engine oil much more frequently... say 3-4K miles or less...its the life blood of the car and costs so little and take a few minutes to change. (my older cars I change the oil evey 500 miles!!)
  15. +1 £40 cheaper than anyone else... for FK452's
  16. Yes drain plug to both and you'll need a 10mm hex key or 10mm hex key socket (allen key)
  17. Why dont you just do the service yourself... A P1 type service is sooo easy and you will save £100 and know its been done..rather than a page of ticks in a box..you know 4 wheels tick, doors work tick, etc etc.. personally I would change all the oils and filters. Really its easy and quick.
  18. I would do it...takes 10 minutes. Then you know where you are Oh and do the gearbox as well, cost is minimal and its so easy to do. There no down side.
  19. Anyone remember the first teaching language for secondry school back in ...?1972 CESIL was its name cant remember what it stood for though now..maybe computer education (for) secondary school ?????? language. Then of course what about the slide rules.....
  20. Triple clocks just screw in place and plug in the single plug... takes 10 -15 mins. Just done it on my 2003 jdm... big improvement.... no need to get the calculator out! and the oil pressure is in psi. Good luck with the sale.
  21. Mine goes Volt meter-Oil Pressure-Trip computer. 2003 JDM.
  22. Regarding tank size..mines a JDM and I can get £90 in it no problem..nothing to boast about though
  23. I fill up from about 1/4 of a tank for £75 and get anywhere between 18 and 31 mpg. Thrash around locally its 18 and on a run being careful 31... BUT dont worry about that its sooo much fun. More to the point do it whilst you can. The ways things are going with fuel prices and road fund licence we are all gradually being taxed off the road. My advice get a zed and just enjoy it.
