GPS would be more accurate in reporting the true speed... HOWEVER.... GPS is not instant! I found GPS to have a lag between 1-2 seconds, if not more when reception is poor. Which makes it a bit useless IMHO because you can never tell your speed when you need it. The moral of the story is that if you are driving on constant speeds with a clear GPS reception on a straight line then GPS is the accurate one. But don't rely on it when "adjusting" your speed for a speed camera you just saw, cause it may still show you the speed you had 10 seconds or a minute ago...

Hi Zedrush What I meant by relative truth is just what you mean as well - everyone sees things differently and what appears true to one person may appear wrong to another. That's why I think nobody in their right mind should or can claim something to be 100% proven or true, be that about evolution, creation, etc. What I was saying though is that for evolution there is actually a lot of evidence and research available for scrutiny, which does build up a fairly consistent picture and a bit more than "just another theory". Of course it doesn't mean it is an absolute answer for everyone - it doesn't have to be, and people can look at the evidence and make up their own minds about it. So I absolutely agree with you that one is entitled to its own opinion - that is fundamentally more important for us as a society than whatever appears to be some kind of truth, and it's wrong for someone to refuse dialogue or discussion just because they don't agree with a point of view. Discussion and debate should be something to enjoy and learn from We should have been by now

That is just not true Zedrush, putting things that way is just wrong. Brushing things off with a "that's what you believe" argument is ignoring the reality and sticking one's head in the sand I'm afraid. The difference between evolution and creationism is actually just that - evolution is not "just another religion", it's a theory that is _substantially_ backed up by hundreds of years of research and by countless experiments that can be _repeated_ and _confirmed_ by people from all backgrounds and religions in a consistent and coherent way. And that does put it in a different category. Just the fact that some people don't care and don't understand all that research doesn't make it less of a reality. They're just not on the same level, really. Of course one is entitled to it's own beliefs - which is far more important for us as human beings than having an answer. But putting the question like "how did the ape become man" just shows how simplistically and naively the whole issue is taken on really. Because things are never that simple or easy to understand. What do you think it would take to convince you that there is a possibility that today's man and today's ape have a common ancestor, a possibility which is far stronger than lots of other things we take for granted these days? Would you be willing to spend the years it takes to check the tomes of research, see the evidence and perform all the experimentation to understand all the processes and observations involved? Or would you prefer to take the word of someone you think has authority, be it a scientist, priest or layman? Actually, that's not true. Parts of the evolution theory can be proven empirically. Yes, you can't show how to turn an ape into a man in an evening at the dinner table, but you can show how organisms evolve (and not just transform) from one to another, how cells change to take different roles in different environments, how they can combine to form different things. You can show how features are inherited from a generation to another, and how, at the same time, transformations also appear. Do you think anyone has a chance to comprehend all of these on a forum post when an experiment like this takes sometimes years to run and observe? They have found enough of them to establish a pretty rock-solid link. To put things in comparison, people are being sent to jail these days on far weaker forensics. They aren't very far from it on both grounds. Reconstruction of some of the basic processes in the cells has been done in the lab a long time ago. The technology is actually still lacking, but the understanding of what goes on is pretty solid. And yes, scientists in labs can take cells these days and turn them into what they want - and in a very predictable way. What is there to justify? I'm not sure I understand this question. Depends what you mean by absolute truth. Absolute truth exists only in dogma, I'm afraid, and if that's what you are looking for then you can find it very easily. Finding the relative truth, the truth that exists in connection to the reality around you, that's a different thing.

GM Coupe here for the Sunday drive. Looks OK on the list as it is (with 2 carveries). What's the "vouchers paid for" column for on the Sunday list? Otherwise I could see why lots of people miss these calls, I usually look at "View new posts" and there's so many posts that one could easily miss the Wales ones, especially if one is away for a while. A direct messaging system would be better, I don't know how feasible that is though with the forum software.

Nice pics. We've been on the Honister pass first thing after we've got the Zed. Really nice drive in any car, in the zed it's even better. In fact the Lakes should be on the compulsory "to do" list of any zed owner...

If this gets serious it may be worth claiming on your insurance policy - some insurances cover with 0 excess while the car is in the custody of a garage/someone in the motor trade. Check with your insurance company if the dealer doesn't make good.

Been surprised by this too - albeit on a much lower priced item. It's basically ebay's policy to make sure you put in an as high initial value to your item as you can, so that they can collect the higher fee. But Zedrush, don't despair, you are way too early in your auction: - first, never respond to "can I buy it now" requests if an auction is ongoing - more often than not it's someone trying to avoid competition and you'll end up losing money. Nobody is really desperate to buy on ebay, there's always something else on sale - secondly for sure that the highest bid will go up significantly in the last 5 minutes of the auction, as 95% of ebay buyers put sniping bids only these days. - you already have a bid for 1.7k which means you'll get at least that much - ebay is still the best place to sell second hand cameras and get your money's worth

They charged me for one hours work, which is quite a lot - but they did run other tests too. But I should say I'm not the most experienced car person around here, other people may have been able to do this themselves.

On thing to note is that the idle air volume learning procedure needs to be carried out under more controlled conditions - one of which involves the engine coolant temperature being at a certain level. I don't remember the exact details but they are in the service manual. It's not a very easy procedure to carry out as far as I am concerned - as much as I tried to do this myself I didn't succeed. In my case I had to have the procedure carried out by Nissan. After this my car at idle is running at 650 RPM.

I've had two fishtailing incidents in my first year of Z ownership - well, I wouldn't call them incidents, they were more like where you felt the tail going off side but you manage to bring it back in the next fraction of a second, and you held your hearth in your teeth for the next ten minutes. One was low speed in a roundabout with part cobblestone surface in the wet (obvious trap), the other one was speeding up the entrance on a motorway slip road, but was relatively dry. Both cases were on Bridgestones RE040. Ever since changing to Falkens last summer I never got into another fishtail - I may be driving more carefully but the Falkens are definitely softer and stickier than the RE040. Still need to be careful with wet conditions though, no matter what tyre, speed, car, etc.

I'm not sure what other people think but I'd always report road rage incidents to the police. Luckily I haven't been involved or seen any that would warrant it, but, if possible, I'd write down the reg numbers of the car(s) involved and later when I get the time I'd report it to the police to their non-emergency number. I don't expect a policeman would immediately go out knocking on the door of a culprit, but usually someone that's a t**t is a t**t in more than one way - and he's likely to get more complaints from other incidents, until someone does something about it.

Something that I found helps quite a bit is keeping a calorie intake diary. It sounds boring, but if you have a smartphone you can buy "apps to do that" - and then log your food as you eat and be cool about it. Trust me, you will be shocked how little it takes to get over the daily limit. You need to keep it religiously, but that also gives you something to focus on and a daily reason to eat less. I think masticating does help too, it helps you "feel" the food more and beat the cravings, but it won't make as much of a difference as working out regularly, eating less calorie-rich foods, etc. In the end the key is staying focused on the diet and exercise for the long term

It's saved with "keep" on my SkyHD box after it was aired on Channel4HD last year... Some shots are just breathtaking, especially in HD. Loved the slow pace of the movie, one of the best ones I've seen lately.

I'm probably the least qualified to talk about this, but I think I had something similar with our zed (metal-like rattling in low gears when car is cold, somewhere between 1-1.3k RPM). The dealer had a look around this and I was told it was a loose exhaust heat shield that only required some nut tightening?. Charged me £8 for it which it's probably the least anyone has been charged in a Nissan dealership I haven't heard it since then. Again, not sure how that tallied with reality though

I found spraying the nozzles with deicer helps getting the squirt out a wee bit faster. Although it doesn't help much if the pipes and tubes are properly frozen

+1 +2 In case you haven't found it, lift the carpet in the main cubby behind passenger seat. Perfect place for the manual, don't think anything else can fit there anyway.
