I'm a fan of private plates. You don't have to be a snob to have one. Or a knob for that matter. But I think they really set a nice car off especially with a short plate. My zed didn't look half as good when I took the plate off and the skyline looks a million times better with the plate on A good plate should be clever or quirky, one that makes you smile or nod with approval when you read it. Some good ones come up in DVLA auctions Initials are boring but they still look better than a standard plate

On the motorway the zed is capable of low to mid 30s If your car is low or average mileage for it's age then do the journey in your zed. If its high then I could understand getting a hire shot If this is a one off trip then do it in the zed. If it will be regular then consider hiring or getting a shed

If I was going 4x4 I'd be thinking x5 or ML. For an estate I'd be looking at Audi or Volvo, I just think they make the nicest looking estates

White is nice on the XF, even nicer on the XKR But that purple is the nicest colour of the lot
