    Door Handles

Not a bad idea i guess,i can use gaffer tape on the rubbers so i dont touch the paintwork.

    Door Handles

I have a car cover, trouble is,i doubt il be able to get the car cleaned before I need to take the handles off,so will have to go in the garage dirty
  4. Im hoping to have my door handles sorted while im away for a couple of weeks. Iv seen the guide on how to remove the handles, but is there any way of being able to close the door with the window closed and still being able to get back into the car at a later date? Was thinking i could cable tie the mechanism handle so that i can pull it when i come back to the car. Dont want to leave the window open for nearly 3 weeks while the car is in my garage,as the amount of dust that will be in there will be mental. ANy suggestions that dont involve climbing through the boot?
  5. Up to you how you play it,but food and drink there is expensive,so maybe take a packed lunch, but take your wallet anyway,as there are tons of stools and stands there to spend your money. Watch your speed when you get about 30-40 minutes away too,as there are always police with speed guns dotted around the place. Its a great place to go and im sure you will have a great time.
  6. Id say no to the Grandstand, but without a doubt worth going! You just have to see the pictures that people post on the forum to know its a mecca for car nuts. Its really busy, and dont try to do all of it in one day,you just wont. If you go for a day, check out everything that you want to see,and dont worry about what you dont as you will have a brilliant time anyway.
  7. Amazing car! My mums husband as a previous CL500,and that is beautiful, this must be on another planet! Does it fit in the garage? Looks like it could be abit tight.lol
  8. At a recent track day,i kept pace with a 996 C4S down the straights, and had him on corners. (though the corners thing was probably down to the driver) The only area I struggled with was traction out of corners,as the 911 is rear engined and 4wd. I was very happy with the performance of the Zed,it was fast enough down the straights to keep up with alot of cars, and round the corners it was blinding, but I did have the ARB's set to their hardest setting. Yes there are faster hat backs out there, but they appeal to a different market. I love the noise of my Zed probably more than most things about the car,not a fan of the straight six sound. Yes its abit lardy, but its a GT car,not an out an out sports car like an Elise/VX220T/VXR,and as such you take the luxury and have to accept the downsides of that,or strip it all out.
  9. Wow,im exhausted, what a race, great drive by Kimi, and a race to watch if you ever doubted Vettel and his over taking ability. Looking forward to going to Austin and Brazil for the last 2 races.
  10. What a total load of b0ll0cks! I suppose you cant argue with the facts, and we have to accept the consequences,no matter how hard they are to take. Its a long race, and now Seb has to drive his butt off to get some points to stay in the championship hunt.

    Squeaky Belts

Good news Got to be honest, didnt do the how rule and thumb thing, and now abit worries that i may have over tightened them. Both belts have abit of slack in them, not mega tight, but thinking that i should go out and loosen them abit.

    Squeaky Belts

Just done mine, seems to have fixed the squeaking now. The larger belt was pretty slack, the smaller one slightly less so. Really easy to do,needed a breaker bar to slacken the pulley bolts, but once that was done, was a quick job. Hopefully thats the end of it for a while now.

    Squeaky Belts

Will have a stab at it tomorrow morning before work
  14. I think i was at around 98dB,thats the unresonated version,with uprated Y pipe.

    Squeaky Belts

I have no idea what ones are the tensioner pulleys.

    Squeaky Belts

Is it the sort of thing that i can do myself,or do i need to take it to a garage?

    Squeaky Belts

They were tightened up not long after they were fitted as they were squeaking, just wondered if they would constantly stretch, and il end up with the issue every year.
  18. Started to get a squeak from my belts a few weeks ago,and this has now turned into a full on high pitch screech when i fire the car up for the first time, and last a few minutes before it stops. The belts are only a year old,(Gates from Alex). Its started to do it on fire up even when the car is warm now too,and is pretty annoying, especially for the road i live in at 5.30 when i sometimes go to work. Iv got a set of AMS LW pulleys on there, which were fitted at the same time as the belts. Is it worth getting the belts tightened up,or should i replace with new ones now that the current ones are obviously stretched abit? Also, someone mentioned to me the other day that they had heard of super sticky belts being fitted to cars with ally pulleys,is this just rubbish,or do such things exist?
  19. Never tried Yellow Stuff pads, always has Ferodo DS2500,but its an easy job to do. Takes longer to get the wheel off and on than it does to change the pads. Just take your time the first time you do it. You will need a small pin punch or similar to push the retaining pin out the caliper,as they can sometimes get stuck with all the gunk that gets around them. When you put the pins back in,give them a quick rub with some abrasive paper, and smear with copper slip, this helps the next time you replace them.
  20. Yeah sorry,it hasnt been washed for a month or so now, wife to be's car is the same, its disgraceful really. Would have washed it Friday evening, but had to fit some bungs into a mates Elise, which was a waste of time as it still was over the noise limit. They are getting really strict on the noise now, they actually had a guy leaning in the cockpit watching your revs as another guy held the machine at the back of the car. Atleast in most of the shots you can see im pushing the car.
  21. Had a chat with John Palmer too, very nice guy. He said he would very much like to do a race series with 350Z's,he ran a few as experience cars a few years back, and he always rated them. That would be very interesting. I said to him id spun at the last corner, and said about the ginger crash,i was lucky as i went onto the grass. I think i just got too much kerb on the entry to it. I feel the seats could be alot better. My friend with the 370 has nice very nice Recaro's and harnesses, which were immense, really held you in place,so maybe worth a look at some point.
  22. Either Bedford or Anglesey. Bedford is very safe as there's masses of runoff everywhere because it's purpose built, sadly that does make it a bit lacking in excitement at times. The first half of the GT circuit up to the long straight is good fun though, as is the final corner that Daryl mentioned above. I'm tempted to drag the '5 back there again at the start of December, depends on whether funds allow or not right now. Thanks for the info! I am looking at doing Saturday 15th December: http://www.clubmsv.c...?productid=1623 Seems great value for £99 for a whole day. It is a very safe circuit yes,and although as has already been said, its laking in excitement, the GT circuit is pretty cool. There are points that test how brave you are, which if the answer is very, then its very rewarding. The £99 is a very good price if its for the whole day,and for the GT circuit, there are 3 different ones at Bedford. It was very crowded on Saturday, with around 90 cars, but they only allow 40 on track at any one time. For a beginners track day,its brilliant, the long back straight will see you touching 125-130.
  23. Went to Bedford on Saturday, and what a day. We lost around 2 hours running first thing,as some bloke ran out of talent (not sure he had it to start with) and put his Pug on its roof, glass everywhere, mass clean up,ambulance etc etc. Then I had a massive off at the last turn,i think i grabbed too much kerb on the way in,but had a abit of a drift on,sorted that out, then all of a sudden i had no control, abit of a tank slapper, and ended up on the grass infield at the other end of the pit lane facing the track. That really shook me up,no damage to the car luckily, only my pride! Lunch was mainly spent putting the cat back in my mates S1 Elise, with no ramps or jack,so that was fun. (He failed the noise test at the start of the day,and had to go home and get the cat) Then in the afternoon i got taken for a few hot laps in my mates dads MP4-12C,which was epic, and my mate took me out in his Nismo kitted 370Z with P Zero Rosso tyres. I managed to get into a nice rhythm in the afternoon, though i never trusted the last turn again. I followed a 996 C4S with its front end twitching through there,so decided not to push though it again. During the down time in the morning,i put the ARB's on their hardest settings, and that really made a difference, and when I was taking out my mate who had the 370,he helped me out loads, pointing out where i could go faster and how to take certain corners. He later ran out of fuel at round 4.30 coming into the pits, and that ended the day. Over all an eventful day,but still brilliant, and the car performed brilliantly. Had the discs skimmed by Marcus at Disc Skimmers a few weeks back, and the brakes felt superb,i could brake really hard and consistently all day, and i always knew where I was with them. Got home about 6.30 and then got showered and changed and went to a party in the evening, got home about 12.30,was up at 6am that day,so was very tired.
