So... MPG

Noticed a thread about this not so long about, but as I don't have my up and running yet, I would like to know approximately how much fuel Ill have to fork out if I'm going to commute sometimes in it..

It's 22-24 miles to work and back.. It will be in an 06 350..

 

Differences between me driving sensibly, and me driving driving like a dick (the most likely )

always seems to average out @ 24mpg - however you drive - so just enjoy it

I travel a 64 mile round trip to and from work, five days a week and use a full tank of fuel in the process, if that helps.

If you accept 20 as an absolute worst case average then I'd say you won't be disappointed. More than likely you'll achieve more than this tho.

As Mrs buster says, if you need to worry about it, its not the car for you. It isn't terrible but you do spend a lot of time at the petrol station and it only drinks the best

If your doing more then 20 mpg then your not driving it properly.

300-320 miles out of £70-80 quid of super is what I normally get. That is pretty much all local driving.

 

It gets worse over winter too

Driving round town I get 17mpg on a long run I can average 27mpg it all depends how you drive it, don't forget I have an auto aswell tho.

I get a solid 19mpg on my commute. 15 miles each way some town driving with light traffic some twisty bits that are normally clear.

 

As someone else pointed out, use 20mpg as an average and you wont ever be far out.

Cruise controlled 60mph in the slow lane you can get 36mpg, in london traffic not so good - around 13mpg.

 

Like others here my long term average is 24 mpg using tesco 99 ron...

 

But it isn't a Zed unless it's screaming past 5,000rpm ;-)

Thats local town roads and the odd A road, not flooring it anywhere either

Commuting 20 miles a day along the motorway, I aim for 28mpg if i set cruise control to 75. At 85 this drops to 26mpg. Normally aim for 400 miles between fill ups.

 

To be honest, all these peopel saying how they never get over 20mpg... i dont see how you can get BELOW 20mpg. I'd say if you're getting above 20mpg, then you arent driving the car long enough to warm it up properly, and you should probably be riding a bike... Big engines dont like short journeys, even a spirited drive round wales in a zed convoy I averaged 27mpg, due to it being over 100 miles drive.

 

Also, to those who says not a zed unless its doing over 5000rpm, again I disagree... one of the reasons I bought a big capacity engine is so I can waft along on a wave of low down torque - if you want revs i'd suggest a s2000 or an M3. I love my zed just doing 70 in top gear, cruise control on. Such a nice place to be!
