Vansman Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Noticed a thread about this not so long about, but as I don't have my up and running yet, I would like to know approximately how much fuel Ill have to fork out if I'm going to commute sometimes in it.. It's 22-24 miles to work and back.. It will be in an 06 350.. Differences between me driving sensibly, and me driving driving like a dick (the most likely ) Thanks guys! Quote
Mrs Buster Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 If you need to worry about it you've bought the wrong car ... pmsl 2 Quote
Vansman Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 It's not going to hinder the decision of owning, just would like to know as it would be nice to commute in this than on a bike.. Quote
KUGT4 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 always seems to average out @ 24mpg - however you drive - so just enjoy it Quote
vansman66 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I travel a 64 mile round trip to and from work, five days a week and use a full tank of fuel in the process, if that helps. Quote
delz0r Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Never seen more than 23.5 MPG in mine! Quote
KyleR Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Gallon a day for that commute. 4.546 x the price per liter of super unleaded at your local. Quote
Steel Lynx Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I hope you won't actually be "driving like a dick" and bringing shame to the Zed family! I do however hope that you enjoy driving your zed quickly when it's safe to do so Quote
Bems Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 If you accept 20 as an absolute worst case average then I'd say you won't be disappointed. More than likely you'll achieve more than this tho. Quote
WhackyWill Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 always seems to average out @ 24mpg - however you drive - so just enjoy it Wish I got 24 MPG. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
hensh65 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 As Mrs buster says, if you need to worry about it, its not the car for you. It isn't terrible but you do spend a lot of time at the petrol station and it only drinks the best 1 Quote
RafsZed Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 If your doing more then 20 mpg then your not driving it properly. Quote
370Ad Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) 300-320 miles out of £70-80 quid of super is what I normally get. That is pretty much all local driving. It gets worse over winter too Edited November 14, 2013 by 350Ad Quote
Pete87 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Driving round town I get 17mpg on a long run I can average 27mpg it all depends how you drive it, don't forget I have an auto aswell tho. Quote
:RedZed: Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I get a solid 19mpg on my commute. 15 miles each way some town driving with light traffic some twisty bits that are normally clear. As someone else pointed out, use 20mpg as an average and you wont ever be far out. Quote
Dynamic Turtle Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Cruise controlled 60mph in the slow lane you can get 36mpg, in london traffic not so good - around 13mpg. Like others here my long term average is 24 mpg using tesco 99 ron... But it isn't a Zed unless it's screaming past 5,000rpm ;-) Edited November 14, 2013 by Dynamic Turtle Quote
wmr1980 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 With mixed driving London and country roads including 70mph cruise on motorways (don't see the point in doing much more on the motorway) I seem to be averaging around 26mpg. Quote
Smokeyjoe Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Driving sensibly with a bit of heavy footing I'm getting a 28/29/30 mpg average Quote
zxrob Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I quite honestly average between 22 and 27 mpg Thats local town roads and the odd A road, not flooring it anywhere either How the feck do folk get 30mpg+, 6th gear 60mph on the motorway ???? Rob Quote
peteman35 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 27 mpg average for me. Drive it reasonable hard Quote
brillomaster Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Commuting 20 miles a day along the motorway, I aim for 28mpg if i set cruise control to 75. At 85 this drops to 26mpg. Normally aim for 400 miles between fill ups. To be honest, all these peopel saying how they never get over 20mpg... i dont see how you can get BELOW 20mpg. I'd say if you're getting above 20mpg, then you arent driving the car long enough to warm it up properly, and you should probably be riding a bike... Big engines dont like short journeys, even a spirited drive round wales in a zed convoy I averaged 27mpg, due to it being over 100 miles drive. Also, to those who says not a zed unless its doing over 5000rpm, again I disagree... one of the reasons I bought a big capacity engine is so I can waft along on a wave of low down torque - if you want revs i'd suggest a s2000 or an M3. I love my zed just doing 70 in top gear, cruise control on. Such a nice place to be! 2 Quote
Smokeyjoe Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Have seen 40mpg at 50mph on the motorway when I was running my spare. Quote
spursmaddave Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 27 mpg average for me. Drive it reasonable hard 27? Not hard enough Quote
