SiriusProjects Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Hi All, Well, I was hoping that I would be posting pictures of the centre console and door trim wrapping that I had done today by a local firm. Sadly though, I'm just too disappointed with the result to want to post any pictures. I'm gutted, I really am. I need some help. Does anyone know of anyone in the Somerset area or close to Somerset that could redo the job for me? Thanks. Quote
K370Z2 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Sorry to hear a members disappointment .. Will they not re do the job .. If not Name & Shame !! Quote
14N Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Sorry to hear that OP. definitely name and shame with pics. Hope you get it sorted though. Quote
spursmaddave Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 If its not a decent job then go back and complain. Plenty of people including me have wrapped interior bits with decent results so if you have paid it should be good.... Quote
SiriusProjects Posted August 10, 2013 Author Posted August 10, 2013 I will be getting in touch with the company on Monday. Don't really want to take it back to them now though to be honest. I wont name and shame them just yet. I will wait to see what they say when I call them. Will keep you all posted. Quote
SiriusProjects Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Hi Guys, Got an update for you. I spoke to the guy who did the work today and he basically admitted that yes, it was a poor quality job. He put it down to the fact that he ran out of time that day. Well, I got to him at 10am and didn't leave until 6pm and that wasn't because the job took that long. The guy also does remaps and while I was there two or three people turned up during the day and he would just leave my job to go and do remaps for them and he wondered why he ran out of time! Anyway, having discussed it with him, he has agreed to redo it. Okay, I could get it done somewhere else, but I am willing to give the guy another chance. He is local to me and I like to support local firms. If he can step up and do a good job then I will be happy to recommend him to my friends. Initially I did go for a yellow carbon fibre wrap to match it up with the exterior colour, however, having seen the finished product, I found it to be a little too garish for my tastes. So I have asked him to redo the job using a black carbon fibre wrap as I've decided to keep the interior relatively neutral now. I will of course, quality permitting, post some pics of the finished job. Quote
SiriusProjects Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 Hi Guys, As you know I had my car interior wrapped by a local firm and as mentioned, I wasn't happy with the results. Would like your opinions on it so have a look at the gallery link below and let me know what you think. Quote
spursmaddave Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Awful mate, the sort of thing you might be happy with if a mate did it, no way is that good enough to have been paid for Quote
DoogyRev Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Awful mate, the sort of thing you might be happy with if a mate did it, no way is that good enough to have been paid for +1 on this ^ Running out of time is no excuse . . especially when care and attention has to be taken at the job in hand. Hopefully when its redone it will look much better. I actually quite like the Yellow Quote
Will370z Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I wouldnt be paying for that, very shoddy for a professional. Good luck 2nd time around Quote
Fluke Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I wouldn't be happy with that if I'd done that myself with an eye infection, let alone pay some body else for that crap. Did he trim it with a knife and fork? 1 Quote
SiriusProjects Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 I will admit that I didn't know a great deal about vinyl wrapping before I looked into getting the interior done, but the word "wrapping" to me implied that the edges and apertures of any trim pieces would have the vinyl wrapped around them. If I had attempted the job myself, that's how I would have done it anyway. Would I be wrong in assuming that? Quote
14N Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The last time I saw wrapping like that, Vanilla Ice was miming very badly.... Quote
gillywig2 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Has he caused any damage to the trim with the scalpel? Quote
spursmaddave Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Looks to me like they didnt even remove any trim possibly.... I would also check if they have marked the plastic with whatever they cut the edges with (garden strimmer?) as if they have I would take it to the next level i.e. new interior as wrapping should be reversable imo Quote
WhackyWill Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Has he caused any damage to the trim with the scalpel? Didn't use a scalpel..just a blunt hacksaw blade by all accounts..!! Quote
SiriusProjects Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 A scalpel was used to cut around the apertures, but what was even more amazing was that the edges of the vinyl on the door handles was filed! All the vinyl has now been removed, but as I suspected, if you look closely you can see bloody file marks on the trim! Quote
4RE Leather Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Without even reading your thread I can see that the panels were not taken off which is a must for a decent finish. Get your money back and take it off. You will soon find another wrapper Quote
Hooch Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Oh my, Stevie Wonder could have done a better job! I thought my wrapping skills were bad with a few small bubbles. Quote
coldel Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 If you are down south get over to Taras at RT he will wrap that lot properly for you. Utterly shocking job, if they think that what they are doing is a professional job then I should start up my own business I did a better job on my own interior. Quote
SiriusProjects Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Hi Guys. Well good news, I got the centre console re-wrapped and it looks a million times better now. Will take some pic over this bank holiday weekend and post them up. Quote
