Hi all,

OK looking at options for a new front BBK on my Zed and I'm still debating but I thought with your help we could make it a mass debate. (sorry)

3 options based on budget are -

1. Akebono 370 upgrade kit 356mm disks Nissan 370 callipers.

2. Ksport 356mm 8 pot callipers - unfortunately I'm looking at a 3 month wait for these.

3. D2 356mm 8 pot callipers - Not much info on these although a few guys in the states seem to rate them.

I'm leaning towards trying the D2's at the moment as the Ksports are not available and these are basically identical spec.

Over to you guys n gals ????

I was looking myself at the D2's only last night, and you chose the purple which I think is a cool colour too. The Akebono's are also on the for sale market on my350z so you could pick up a bargain, I'll see if I can find the link. If you're treading in this region (not that I have any experience of any of these) but by what I read the D2's and Akebono would be on my list.

These sold very recently for $1,500 (Akebono)

There is also some Rotora's $2,850

Some Stoptech for $1,400

There's even Wilwood as well, so there's a lot of options and bargains to be had!!

I would go K-Sport, but if you really can't wait then the D2's.

Have you thought about Stoptech

Yes considered the reason they are not in the list = Budget

i doubt there will be much difference between the kits in terms of performance so i would just go for what looks nicest and is available!

I would seriously consider buying a higher end kit that's used.

Quick change of the seals etc and they'll be new!

I'd make sure that spares are available too.

What's it for track or road?

If on a budget:

Road - Carbotech xp8 pads, decent discs, braided lines (if not got them), decent fluid.

Track - xp10 pads + as above.

Im pretty sure that K-Sport is made at the same factory as D2 is?

i have the K-Sport brakes and i am VERY pleased with them.

running 8pot 356mm i front and 6pot 330mm i back

Yep Ksports and D2 and by the same manufacturer who also make lot of the so called "big brands". AFAIK only AP do their stuff themselves.

I have the Ksports and i'm very pleased. The most important is to match the pads for your application.

PF 01 race compound are the best for track day and have good modulation for road use. Negatives are brake dust and cold squeal.

DS 2500 will be perfect for road use and occasional trackdays.

There are all parts available to service the brakes.

If I were you, i would go for the new Ksport super 8 which is a a floating disc setup and normal 6pot at the rear.

I will be selling my fronts BBK next year for the super 8 as i want 380mm disc  to run semis lick tyres. You can have then for a good price if you are prepared to wait.

He's not on a budget but being sensible(ish) Running a supercharged "built" engine it needs to be good but also a sensible price.
