Wookiee22 Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Apologies if this has already been dealt with. Any chance that mousing over the title of a topic could bring up the first line or so of the post, a la MLR and my350Z? Yes, it's a bit lazy, but with random topic titles ("Guess what happened! / OMFG! / Arghhhh!! etc.) I think it would be a handy feature to have, particularly to those with slower connections speeds. Zugara Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 oh, could we have spell check and predictive text too? Quote
Sam Mcgoo Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I think its a great idea. It makes it much nicer to browse when time is limited and makes searching for a particular topic/ discussion far easier. It's that or start getting strict on thread titles and and actually making them relate to the topic. Quote
ATTAK Z Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 oh, could we have spell check and predictive text too? a speel cheque wud be gud Quote
jollyranchers Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 i think its a good idea , detailing world do this too Quote
Wookiee22 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 oh, could we have spell check and predictive text too? Potentially a grammar checker could be helpful too. I've just noticed that I ended my first sentence with a preoposition - just off into the back garden to flog myself. Quote
Sarnie Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I'm sure this has been raised before and it was deemed that the forum software doesn't allow it IIRC.... Quote

rtbiscuit Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 i've seen it on other sites and it can really slow them down. it i s a nice feature though Quote
Stew Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 It is a nice feature. I'd actually prefer that people used 'proper' topic titles if the content is relevant ie. not in the off topic section. The men in red will have a look I guess. Quote
Matt L Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 im all for presictive text/spell checker if they were possible but i hate the whole hover over a title and a line comes up, really winds me up . Quote
Stew Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Use anything but IE and I think you get a spell checker. Firefox has one for sure and I think Chrome has one. Quote
Maccaman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 The old software used to do this but think it's not included in this version. Quote
Ebized Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 As Stew mentions, if the headings included the subject concerned it would help others when later searching for something that might be quite useful in the thread but gets lost under a clueless intro Yes, as Mods we could change the headings but self-moderation is by far the best option Quote
Ekona Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 No mouseover reveals please, they're bloody awful and horrendously irritating when trying to quickly scan down through a page and this horrible pop-up keeps blocking text you're actually trying to read. Absolute pet hate on interweb forums Quote

Peter10 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 +1 for Firefox for spell check. You get the US dictionary as standard but you can download the GB one and away you go. Quote
