djrm Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Hi guys and girls! I am thinking about getting a very cheap small runaround after finding out how bad the 350 really is in the ice / snow... Also would help to save on fuel costs as I have recently started DJ'ing in a couple of clubs that are about a 2 hour round trip from my house weekly! I have been racking my brains trying to think of something but can't... My budget is less than £1000 and was wandering what suggestions you folks might have! I have thought of the usual Fiesta's etc but would like something with a bit more character... + a small engine is essential Thanks! Ryan Quote
Jay Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Another one wanting to join the shed club I bought a 1997 corsa lol for 500 bucks and i had no problems in the snow / ice at all. It cruises by all the bmws and mercs Quote
Aust350z Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Me too Locally I've decided on an E36 BMW Sedan (slightly higher $$) but the 4-door practicality and key-ring bling Quote
R35LEE Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Go for a short wheel base and somethiing light. Corsa, 106, Micra etc. The thinner the tyres the better. Just make sure they have loads of grip Quote
martinmac Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I have an early model Civic and its a great little shed. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 go on autotrader and start setting the options to narrow it down, you can set the price maximum, doors, engine size, vehicle type etc. and see what left. Quote
djrm Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 That's what I thought! Corsa was the one I thought would end up being the best one... £500 is perfect... Quote
Will370z Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Im going for a 106 me thinks. If my feet will go on the pedals Quote
LRF4N Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Jap or german mate. Golf, polo, civic etc Quote
un1eash Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Im going for a 106 me thinks. If my feet will go on the pedals Mine didnt, i hated driving our 1997 106 XSi we had, rubbish build quality also. If you can find one a Corsa with the 1.5TD Izusu engine is a good choice. 67bhp stock but with an induction kit and bleed valve you can see 80-90bhp and still 50+mpg Quote
defianty Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 See I'm not the only one thinking of this. At this rate the price of sheds will go through the roof! Quote

Ricey Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 That's what I thought! Corsa was the one I thought would end up being the best one... £500 is perfect... Dont forget £500 gets you an 'Ecotec' Vaux engine (I think)........I believe a small Sumerian devil was installed in each one and over time he will generally make your life unpleasent with all sorts of mechanical mischief. Like ice, snow and carrying stuff Quote
