I know I'm comparing apples and oranges, no pseudo science will be involved in the final decision, it'll be all about the tingle in my tummy stick behind the wheel.

I think thats the nub of it, you can bring as much science to the party as you want, but its the above that counts and probably what driving you intend to do, or if you just want to look back as you walk away and think, shes a beauty :)

I want all of that! The fizz, reliability, performance, rarity, looks when I'm in it, and to look back at it when I get out.

May as well stick with the 350!

In minimum curb weight order, in the red corner, coming out of...

BRZ86 - 1240 kg - 162 bhp/tonne - 122 lbs/ft/tonne

Cayman - 1350 kg - 218 bhp/tonne - 186 lbs/ft/tonne

BMW M135 - 1425 kg - 225 bhp/tonne - 232 lbs/ft/tonne

370z Coupe - 1496 kg - 218 bhp/tonne - 178 lbs/ft/tonne

My 350z Coupe - 1550 kg - 188 bhp/tonne - 170 lbs/ft/tonne

XKR Coupe - 1665 kg - 252 bhp/tonne - 248 lbs/ft/tonne

BMW 645i Coupe - 1690 kg - 197 bhp/tonne - 196 lbs/ft/tonne

VXR8 - 1831 kg - 226 bhp/tonne - 221 lbs/ft/tonne

Interesting stuff, ta :)

The torque per tonne figure is a good one, I've not ever really bothered looking up at that before.

Bit of a sleeper if anything. I find it slightly annoying that BMW and Audi take boring wagons and stick immense engines in them, they should look much faster if they go faster

I didnt say it was a 1/4 mile king, what i said was, some people hoped/wanted it to have more power, nothing wrong in that ;)

Was replying to post #44..............

M140i is even more impressive, 335bhp/500Nm

Remapped 135/140 even more impressive, mine is 565 lb/ft, so 396 lb/ft per tonne. This is also why 2.0 diesels can burn off a GT86, a 2.0 VAG effort puts out 240 lb/ft from 1750rpm ...........

My GT86 is quicker then my old E92 320d, 1.4 tons with 177bhp and 258 lb/ft, also qicker then our 520d with 190bhp and 295 lb/ft but that does weigh 1.7 tons. I'm not saying the GT86 is fast but it isn't slow and has a decent turn of speed.

Reminds me, I really need to get my car weighed at some point.

That's brave with kilos of vinyl and those lead spacers

And the wing too! :D

I reckon I'm under 1650kg, easy. That should be the minimum for a boggo car which mine pretty much is, even with the spacers the wheels are lighter than stock, seat is much lighter, bits and pieces lost from the engine bay etc.

I'm in exactly the same boat and narrowed it down to the same choice of cars.

I'm going to go for the XKR as its the only car that feels like a progression.

GT86 = too slow after my 350z

Cayman = a bit girly and costs a fortune if it goes wrong

370Z = I can't warrant spending the extra money on a car thats almost the same as i already have.

BMW 645CI = I'm not polish
