best site to buy tyres

I have read all the pinned posts on tyres and several posts underneath.

 

What I'd like to know is which sites are good for purchasing tyres.

In the past I've used www.tyreleader.co.uk

 

I live in Suffolk. Was considering buying online.

Plenty of discussion on this, common answers are:

I don't mean to be harsh, but if you have read that many posts, you'd see that it varies. I'm lazy and only checked 3 sites, and they varied from week to week.

 

Typically people use;

Oponeo

Black circles

Tyreleader

 

Feel free to google any more, these are just the 3 I use cause, like I said, I'm lazy.

Please check the descriptions carefully, as sometimes they will have two of the same tyre, but one would be a lower load rating.

Just google cheap tyres and check all the top results for the cheapest price for what you want. There's no such thing as the best per-say, they're all the same really. Also, don't discount your local tyre fitters, sometimes they can match or beat online quotes.

A lot of tyre depots won't fit tyres that have been sourced elsewhere either.

Sometimes you can go onto one of the major Tyre Specialist websites and find tyres cheaper than the local branch. Like £100 to £150 cheaper

Pay for them on line and deliver FOC to your local branch.

 

Has Worked previously with ATS anyway.

Tyre Leader fan here too, never had any issues & fast delivery even from Europe. Just make they're not 'new, old stock', which you can tell by the markings on them.

Costco is another place for good deals, Asda though, take a bit of beating unless you have a contact in the trade. Chap at work's brother can get me MPSS in the sizes I want for £5 a corner cheaper, that's inclusive of fitting and balancing though, which the Asda price wasn't.

Having done more research/reading, I have some more questions:-

I currently have

Dunlop SP Sport 225/45R18 fronts

Dunlop SP Sport 255/45R18 rears

 

fronts are on wear limit and need replacing before MOT on Dec5th.

rears have only half worn down. got another 2 years easy on them

 

do I replace fronts with Dunlop SP sports £249? or replace all 4 with Uniroyal rainsports £340?

 

Are Dunlop SP sports better tyres than Uniroyal rainsports? no one has mentioned the Dunlop sp sports.

they used to be the best tyre didn't they?

Never noticed that, is it recent, pretty sure it wasn't the case a few months ago , their price is now £27 a corner dearer, I'll reassess come the new year. But £108 saving is not to be sniffed at.

seems silly to me to replace the rears if they're still perfectly functional, so i'd just replace the fronts with dunlops. or uniroyals, and then get matching uniroyals for the rear in a year or twos time.

 

yes there will be a mismatch, but unless you're cornering on the doorhandles all the time I doubt you'll notice a difference.

Ebay is always good too for random tyres. Can undercut the usual people if you time it right

See I find it's openeo or camskill. Using goodyear eagles assym2. Did trackday at Combe in them the other day and performed really well. Just try them all its a quick search I find.
