docwra Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Why not let your family buy the car then? Win/win, they are happy and you an spend your money on something cool Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 So I've started looking at other cars in case I can't get a 206 gti 180 that's right and I've come across a mx5 and mr2. Any opinions on them? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608146797472 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608287219027 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608036445549 The mx5. Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 But I've found another mx5 I'm gonna go look at tomorrow morning. Exactly same spec as the previous one, 3000 miles more, one year older and unfortunately £600 more. Other one was underpriced. The one tomorrow is priced imo for what it's honestly worth, but I'm gonna offer him 2250. It's up for 2495. Quote
Ekona Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 How can you decide what to offer when you've not seen the car? Might be mint and worth every penny he's asking for, or it might be a shed and worth £2k. Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 Looking at the current market value of what they've been going for. Yeah I get you don't know until you've seen the car but I have to have a budget in mind and my original budget was 2k. So I don't wanna go too far over. Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 Offered 2250 and he accepted. Picking up tomorrow Quote
Ekona Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Thank god it's not a shi**y Peugeot Good choice, congrats mate 1 Quote

Ekona Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Did you check the sills? Like proper check, better than i did with mine Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Buster told me about the a pillar and sills. Checked them and they seemed fine. Retired guy selling it. Did 2000 miles in the last two years. Loads of recipes and car was in a very good condition for a non enthusiast owned car imo. Quote

The Bounty Bar Kid Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) So I've finally had a chance to give Maxine a good clean. Before... Now we begin... IronX on the alloys Snow foam Post two bucket clean with Dodo Juice Born to be Mild Shampoo. Car fully clayed, used the meguiars clay bar kit. Tape up for polishing. I used a meguiars da machine polisher, meguiars cutting disc and meguiars da microfiber correction compound. Rear quarter panel before... After... Full post polish Waxed with Dodo Juice Purple Haze and meguiars gel tyre dressing done I'll do a proper full detail in the spring. But for now this will suffice. Didn't realise how nice the colour is until now. Edited November 1, 2016 by The Bounty Bar Kid 7 Quote

These pensioners do know how to cook, ...so what recipes did he give you then? MX5 looks good btw and nice to see you've got a hardtop as I personally think they look much better with it. 1 Quote

The Bounty Bar Kid Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 Walked outside to find this. Love the beading, makes me know I've done a good job. As soon as I drove her it just flowed off so effortlessly. Once I'd done 40miles 1 Quote

Paddy78 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Thank god you went for an MX5, I remember recoiling in disgust a few months ago when a 206 was on the cards. Looks like a lot of fun to be had! 1 Quote
