can't get dip stick back in?

Thought I would check the oil level for the first time in the new car. Pulled out the dip stick and cleaned it, now I can't locate the holw to replace it. There is a KnN filter on the car which may be blocking my view. The stick is quite bent, is this normal?

Yes this is normal I use a torch to be able to see the hole it's just behind the oil filler cap really and very hard to get back in tbh.

There is also a little 'ski slope' just next to the hole to guide the dipstick.

For me it wasn't finding the hole that was the problem, it was fitting it in....

Just be sure it is fully engaged. I thought mine was once and I ended up with my under tray being full of oil and a nice spilage on my drive way too.

Tbh they were fairly tame especially considering one of the comments was from Flex.

 

 

Glad you got it sorted though ~ worst location and design for a dipstick of any vehicle ever I'm sure. Still tbf pretty much the only thing Nissan got wrong, ...that and the location of the heated seats & ESP on/off switches.

LOL the heated seat switches are in the worst location. I was driving home from work when it was like 30 degrees and was like "Why is my back so hot!?" then realised I had accidentally leaned on it with my elbow. Happens quite often.

 

Getting the dipstick in is a pain too.

 

They're the only two things that annoy me about the Z, everything else more than makes up for it!

Didn't notice that when I topped up my oil, but the two times I've filled with petrol there is a whoosh from vacuum in the petrol tank?

I've had my zed for many many years and never found getting the dip stick back in a problem until more recently, must be an age thing ! Haha

@colesl4w, Re: Oil cap overly tight ~ Had that on my Zed a few times & on one occasion had to use a hammer just to get it to move.

Just don't screw it back on too tight & it'll be fine.
