Owners club members dont need another Z, and dealers not wanting a modified car.... where would you sell yours? hypothetically... if it was an Astra it wouldnt be an issue. Jetpilot Posted April 14, 2016 Share Posted April 14, 2016 When I sold my first one last year I thought my best chance was on the forum, barring Mattross serious enquiry all I got was people making low offers, after a month or two I put it on ebay expecting low ball offers (which I still got) but it sold for a grand more than I had advertised for on here. Also sold my alloys off there last year to the first person that contacted me. Yes its free, you get time wasters, but you just have to filter them like you would if you posted an ad anywhere else. Luke0549 Posted April 14, 2016 Share Posted April 14, 2016 ive bought and sold cars on and off for the last 3 years, and never put a single advert on Pistonheads. 90% of my purchases/sales are through ebay the other 8% is autotrader and 2% gumtree. always go ebay first, if not luck after a week ill drop the price a little or stick it on autotrader. ebay is full of timewasters, but you learn very quickly who is genuine or not, never accept a deal on ebay as it just wastes time if they dont show up - or get a deposit before accepting. best thing to do is to find your exact car (make/model/miles (to the nearest 5k)/condition/colour/wheels/extras) and price yours £100 lower. - your car is then the cheapest on the market of that spec. and in theory should sell quickly if people know what theyre looking at. - plus, when someone asks for money off, tell them thats youve done your research and if they can find the same car cheaper, youll beat it. - and they wont. - just put in a full tank of fuel to sweeten them up. take decent pictures. The amount of cars i buy purely based on how awful the pictures are is insane. i specifically target cars with bad photos as i know the car will sell for up to £500 less that what it should. the majority of people only buy cars for cash with a value of £5k or less. above that and you're into finance for most people. So plan to sell your car, and be prepared to sit on it a while for the right price. - if you want a quick cash sale, be prepared to drop £500-1000. But if its advertised for more than 10 days. go and take some different pictures. people who are looking for a 350z/370z may have scanned past it a few times. being new pictures may appear to be a new car and grab their attention. Nobody gets a test drive without proof of fully comp insurance and balance in full at hand, which usually means you taking them out for a drive and directing them to a dealer if they want to try themselves. eBay is just full of complete time wasters wanting cars for nothing.
