Any Experience?

preferably an Authorised dealer of the Quartz stuff.

Internet search led me to a few places, and it seems that i need to fork out around £400-600!!

My friend (based in Church Crookham) does it on the side and I think charges around £300 for prewash, wash, clay, correction, wax and sealant. You'd have to check with him about exact details, e.g. if it's a 1/2 stage correction etc... but I know he's meticulous and takes a lot of pride in what he does.

Let me know if you want me to send over his contact details so you can ask questions etc...

Thing is with the proper setup and tools etc it isn't cheap. The coatings can cost £130, insurance, paint depth gauges, the time taken etc I think the £400-£600 range is fine for that amount of work, it takes time to do properly and safely.

Nah, you're all being ripped off. Detailing doesn't require any specialist skills or anything, it's just washing a car. It shouldn't cost more than £7.50, and it can be done whilst you do your weekly shop...

:stir:

Depending on the work being done (for ceramic or glass coatings I'd expect, at the very least, a single stage correction) then £400-600 sounds reasonable.

My insurance is nearly 4 grand alone!

For a ceramic coat that is absolutely exactly what I charge £400-600 (Zed sort of size being £400)

Not far from Reading - only heard good things about them. Don't know about the Quartz stuff though

Gave these guys a call, i was impressed, he sounds like he knows his stuff.

Their complete Detail includes,

  1. Inside valet
  2. Outside with engine steam clean, 1 stage machine polish, G-Techniq C1 and EXO sealant on body, wheels, and windows.

Looking into G-Techniq, seems it is a ceramic and lasts 2-3 years the same as Cquartz does. I checked with my friend up north who personally knows a detailer that specialises in Exotic cars (http://tinyurl.com/jb5ulxn) and he only uses G-Techniq products so it must be good.

Total price £250!! This seems much more reasonable, Their Facebook reviews are all positive aswell. They keep the car for a day and half and can collect and drop for additional £10.

I'll give them a try closer to summer and post up pics :)

FYI....looks like we might be getting some real cold temps and snow this month down here :(

Yeh I did use Nick in Newbury for my wheels, but his full detailing price is a bit on the high side for me, but yeh his work is quality.

I think for £250 I'll give em a try, it might be a case of you get what u pay for, it might not, will find out sure enough :)

The car being washed with a sponge on the homepage tells me all I need to know

Joking aside i'll never critisise anyone's work if I haven't seen it first hand but they strike me as a 'valeting' company.

I'd be having a nosey at what polishers and compounds they use. Also if they use a PTG and if they have any lighting rigs to work under.

Don't forget mate sounding like you know what you're doing and knowing what youre doing are 2 different things.

Also if they can turn a single stage correct and ceramic coat application out in less than 24 hours including curing then they must be using a sacrificial layer of something else otherwise it'll be in danger of not curing properly.

Yes they did strike me as a valeting company at first too, but they do have the full detail option as well. Fair points made will have to judge when the works done, but I can't turn down a price like that.

He said the curing happens over night and they would return the car the next day.

Tell you what I've just had a look at their Facebook page......they have some serious metal going through there.

Looks a big company too so could just be a case of they have the space and manpower to turf put quick, cheap, quality work.

Fair do's like. If I had another pair of hands (or was prepared to work stupid hours) I could probably knock that out in a day so overnight should be sufficient.

Also if I had the money and infrastructure I'd probably have a valeting team and be the 'detailing' service for bespoke work.

Give them a crack pal

Keen to know how you got on with these?

I've just booked in for the start of April, he did me a deal on the full detail with paint protection @ £300 so I'm going to suck it up and see how good it is.

Mine is a black 370z which has a lot of swirls and generally looks to have been not well looked after by the previous owner. It should be a tough job for him :)

Good to hear, let us know how it goes :) I'm thinking to book early side of April as well, was going to get it done this month but thought I'd let them settle in first, they have recently moved to a new facility. Also need to get my insurance renewal quote next month :yuck:
