  1. Doesn't the Smart car/coupe have a similar engine, and the new Fiat 500? It's supposed to sound like a mini 911 engine

    Commuter car

This is a tricky one, but it's worth looking at how much she'd actually save by getting a diesel. I read somewhere the other day that as a rule of thumb you need to be doing at least 10K miles a year to justify buying a diesel over a petrol. Your lady would be able to get a much nicer (spec and engine) petrol car for less money than an oil burner, so the cash saved can be used to pay for fuel in the long run. Admittedly the short term costs (filling with petrol as opposed to diesel and getting less mpg) are heavier on the wallet and if she's borrowing the cash in the first place to buy the car this might not help. I'd be tempted to buy a cheaper petrol, say £9K as opposed to the expected £12K and get the loan paid off quicker. The VAG 1.4 FSI might be worth a look, i haven't tried one so others might be able to advise on this

    Now this is a garage

None of that bad taste Redneck stuff, this is where it's at
  4. I recently bought a set of wheels with tyres and now have a spare set of rears for sale. The size is correct for the 350Z at 245 x 45 x 18. They have approximately 3mm of tread and no repairs, as you can see from the photo's they are a fair way off the wear markers. Collection from Bromley (Kent) preferred, will consider courier at buyer's expense.
  5. I recently refurbished my Rays and bought a set of standard wheels to use during the refurb. They are in varying degrees of condition, one is very good, one has some kerbing and the other two have patches where the lacquer/paint is flaking. That said they looked perfectly presentable on the car, see photo's of wheels below. Centre caps are included which are in great condition. Collection from Bromley (Kent) preferred but will courier at buyer's expense.
  6. A bit of a shameless plug but my 350Z is going up for sale this week due to the impending arrival of our firstborn, I'll try to get the ad up in the 'for sale' section on here tomorrow....
  7. That is truly awful. I can't even begin to think what that poor family is going through.
  8. I'm reporting this thread to the CAC(k)* department. *Crimes Against Cars
  9. V8? Check. 400hp through rear wheels? Check. What else do you need? You don't need to tell me I can see the long haired sergeant's logic, at a time when we may well be raiding the penny jar to create an awesome house big repair bills for a car wouldn't go down well at all.
  10. I can help you with the height issue - I'm 6'6" and just fit in the Zed so you will be fine I know your pain - one of my most disappointing moments so far in life was sitting in a mate's 993 Carrera 2S (then my realistic dream car) and crying into my lap because my knees were rubbing up around my ears
  11. Have you had the chance to drive a 33i5? I looked at just about every other option before test driving the 335, and all of a sudden i understood why all car journalists rave about the 3 series Still the current S4 (B8) look very nice, remap one of those and apparent you be seeing 400bhp+, add on 4WD, 33mpg and the option to have it as an avant I cannot see many better/faster family car I have to say its one of only a few cars i would consider replacing my 335i with, someone from work has just dropped over £40K on one and cannot wait for it arrive so that I can have a run with it against my 335i My car requirements might be changing due to a house we've seen, it needs complete renovation so this new car might end up needing to be £10K or less. i can handle that as the house is a real opportunity but must say the change of tack is a bit depressing. There are 335i's out there for £10K but they have 100K+ on the clock and that makes me a tad nervous as I want to minimise the possibility of big repair bills. I've started looking at 330i's and older S4's now. To be honest this is going to be a family wagon and whilst i want something quick with character, I don't intend intend to drive it the same way as I do the Zed so I reckon I could handle a temporary move to wrong-wheel-drive All that said, I'm still trying to convince my better half of the merits of an E39 M5
  12. As the Dragons would say.... "I'm out!"
  13. hmmm..... Maybe it needs some red somewhere else to set it off... like the side skirts or something. Doesn't look great on it's own does it.... Maybe you just need to see the car in context.....
  14. Here you go, proof of how sheite it looks
  15. Pretty sure the title of this thread is "Red roof on SILVER?" You Crazy man ... Doh!
  16. The red Zed's look very cool, but a red roof on any other colour would look sheite What colour is your car? Just because everyone goes for black roofs doesn't make it wrong Don't do fake CF though
  17. I'll definitely be testing the options, either way I should have the car within a month or so. No worries
  18. I have a set of standard 18's without tyres if that helps, and a set of rear RE050A's (with about 3-4mm tread) which are off the rims. I keep meaning to get them posted on here for sale. The wheels aren't in great condition as they have a bit of flaking here and there, but after I'd given them a thorough clean they look perfectly presentable. I bought them to use whilst my Rays were being refurbed Let me know if they're any use, I'm based in Bromley, Kent.....
  19. I've been looking into potential family cars again and have discovered that the B7 Audi S4 got an updated centre diff (as fitted to the RS4) from 2006 on. Apparently it has a 20:80 split so most of the power can be applied to the axle with the most grip. This sounds promising - although it clearly won't be as pointable as an RS4, an agressive geo set-up should improve it somewhat. For some reason BMW's leave me a bit cold, I kind of wish they didn't I also seem to have an incurable V8 itch
  20. You need to think outside the box my friend, enlarge the hole, stick one of these badboys in and pretend it's a camera. Job's a good'n..... http://www.maplin.co.uk/rubber-grommets-29915 Either that or you need to be handy with filler and paint or pay a visit to an expert

    Cheap thrills

I vote for the Clio, guessing you can't get an RS Megane for that money? I'd ditch the Celica for an Integra Type-R in a heartbeat too...
  22. They remind me of when you were a kid and you used turn your eyelids inside out to make yourself look like a Zombie
