    new Nissan Z car

If the V was swapped for a smaller capacity turbo 4 pot I'd be happy to compromise with a decrease in size and weight, BUT an increase in quality. This way the cost would probably be about the same as the FT86. With some clever packaging I'm sure enough storage space could be included

    BMW M5d!

Saw this abortion on Pistonheads today, the ad says it all really..... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4116545.htm
  3. Can't help with the fitting, but are you sure you need the whole arm? If the ball-joint isn't borked you can replace the bush on the other end with a Superpro item or similar, for much less cost
  4. Excellent to hear from an owner gangzoom, thanks Have you had any problems with the turbos?
  5. I doubt it will go up I like the styling of the new BMW's, and am not fussed about their ubiquity - I just want a well sorted car to drive This is all great info guys, I was swaying towards the 335i anyway for reasons of RWD and favourable fuel figures, but would happily go for the S4 if it had entertaining handling. Bit of a shame really as I think the S4 is a nicer object and the engine will definitely have more character. If I get the 335i I'll see how I get on with the e-diff and get a proper one if I don't like it. I drove an RS5 extensively on track a year or so back and was bitterly disappointed with the understeer, it just felt really heavy generally and the front end was exactly as docwra described his experience of the B7 S4. The reason I started considering it was down to an Evo review which described 'some oversteer' but it doesn't sound like it'll be accessible enough, I'll probably test a couple anyway
  6. Is that the white box under the heater controls? I think it might be to do with heating?
  7. I think I'd have spent the time after the phone call cramming on a Paul McKenna video....."when I clap my hands you will stop the car, get out, walk around to the passenger door, open it and offer your passenger an hour test drive. While you wait in the nearest pub." Well, that or a baseball bat
  8. Cheap tyres, speed cameras and tasteless mods Seriously, look at the guides on here. The 350Z is a very reliable car
  9. I know these things But I won't compromise on this - don't forget you have a fun car too I did notice an XC90 down the tip the other day which had a V8 badge on the boot though
  10. Early doors 303 every time, we had an absolutely epic run down down there 3 or 4 years ago - maybe we hit the magic 88mph because I'm sure we got there before we set off. Even the sootchucker's turbo took a time-out as we left the A30
  11. I can't play football though 4x4 SUV's/off roaders' are definitely out, don't get me started - they're a pet hate of mine unless they actually get used off-road
  12. It's well worth it. We actually left Bromley later than planned, at 06:30 last week and we still got to Newquay by 11.15 after hitting heaving traffic on the A30.
  13. Mmm that's lovely, full Audi history too I've been taking a sneaky peek at Phaeton's too - I like the rarity aspect but not sure I really want something that looks like a pumped Passat
  14. I have to disagree, I didnt find the Vrede's particularly good in the wet and they were considerably less communicative, especially when on the limit. The RE050A's phone me up and have a 5 minute conversation before they give way, I think their outright grip is better as well. Not often a cheaper tyre performs better than a more expensive one On a recent journey to ease the boredom of a 20mph crawl along the M3 in heavy rain I tested my RE050's by accelerating hard from about 15mph in second with TCS off and the grip was very impressive I must say. I stopped short of REALLY provoking them mind....
  15. Make perfect sense to me if I bought an older RS6 I could keep the Zed and have lots left over for petrol Seriously though, I don't want to run two cars at the moment and the max budget is £18K at a stretch. That isn't enough for a kosher RS4.
  16. "Mr Duffield said that instead of the deadly ninja throwing stars he was carrying starfish with him, which were due to go on display at nearby Adventure Island"
  17. Older RS6 barges are in budget as it goes.....or S8's a la Ronin!
  18. I doubt an S4 will eclipse the Zed in the smile-per-mile factor I've thought (and am still thinking!) about this but can't really justify running two cars. Hence the careful thought about buying the 'sensible' car with the most character. If you can send me a link to R8's and GT-R's for £10K though, I'll take a ride out and pick them all up tomorrow
  19. This is what I feared, a great engine is not good in a car that doesn't handle. If it's not moon and back milaeage or CAT D then this would be interesting at under £18K Awesome, I used to have a B3 Audi Coupe and hankered after an S2 at the time....
  20. We tend to travel early on the A30 / A303, when it's empty it's a quick and easy route
  21. I like the rarity of the IS-F, only those in the know would recognise it. Sadly out of my price range though, as is the C63. Have you driven the B7 S4? I'm interested to know if the oversteer rumours are true. I've heard about the aftermarket LSD's on E92 Beemers, would love to do that but I guess it costs thousands. Oh no, you've got me looking at a Jag saloon now, see - I'm so easily led What's the best petrol to have, the SV8? Diesels are definitely out though The Evo X is a weird one, would love to drive it but couldn't own one. Mostly the image, but also the ridiculous service schedule and MPG.
  22. I drove back from Cornwall to the 'Smoke last sunday and thought I'd post about the semi-interesting cars that kept me awake on the drive. Came across a 1 series first, driven like a tit by a tit in a baseball cap (I didn't think that stereotype still existed ) I was surprised by it's pace though as I'm pretty sure it wasn't a 1M, guess it was a 135i, it seemed to have more to give than the Zed. Maybe it was a chipped sootchucker. Then an Abarth 300 Esseese appeared behind me on the M3, I was entertained by it's turn of pace. I should image that had it been doing around 100mph it would have been impressive for a mini hot hatch Then on the M25 I saw a Focus RS in that pearly green colour, just pootling but looked awesome in the mirrors. A bit of a guilty pleasure that one - it screams chav but it's somehow sooooo cool Last but not least saw a grey 55 plate 350Z coupe on the M3, driven by a lady driver I'm bored at work and thought I'd share these ramblings, for the record there was no racing or dangerous driving involved, and no furry animals were hurt
