  1. Don't rule out french cars, but IMO they have to be from the Reanultsport stable. I would love to buy one if I ended up looking at certain price brackets, how about a Clio 182? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ogcode=flp
  2. Absolutely I can never get my head around why people 'rent' cars this way and I know it's been discussed on another thread so I won't go on about it. But thinking about it, the reason why we can all buy great cars that are a few years old for not a lot of money is largely thanks to them
  3. I'd say the Beemer out of those two as well. Not the 318i though, the bigger petrols can't cost much more? What about a TT? This one looks alright, it's the 225 too. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p Or an SLK / CLK? They can't be that bad. Is a Volvo C70 too old-girlish for you? I'm not sure of your requirements but is an MR2 / MX-5 too basic?
  4. I guess that's a bit irrelevant if the 'hirer' can't afford to buy the car outright in the first place. You hear people bigging up contract hire and the like by saying that they are avoiding or minimising depreciation losses but usually the car was out of their reach in the first place so they would never have bought it outright
  5. A diesel virgin You will love the torque. Diesels do have their place, I was very fond of our old Golf MKIV GT TDi. It revved well and was surprisingly quick - so much so that I did wonder if the previous owner had remapped it. The smell from the exhaust and during the few fuel stops bothered me though. I got used to the sound and it was fun holding revs around town listening to the turbo spinning up, but I have yet to hear a diesel that sounds genuinely 'good'. I just don't think a diesel can be a proper driver's car, it's a subjective thing but all of the ingredients need to be there and the noise and smell kills it for me. I hope that the SLK tickles your pickle Marzman
  6. When you see how they treat humans it's obvious that any animal product should come with a guilt warning for the buyer. They have a massive, often non-consensual, trade in human hair, skin and organs that not many people are aware of.
  7. You hit the nail on the head Dan. What I originally typed was along the lines of "diesel 2 seaters are for people who don't really care about cars" but I was worried it came across as a bit of an insult to Marzman. So, Marzman, no offense and I'm sure the car makes sense to you
  8. Not to put too fine a point on it, diesel 2 seaters / 2+2's are just plain wrong - and the soft top versions are pointless
  9. Bit too similar to standard seats though if you're paying for a re-trim. Here's a red on blue combo SMD, I agree it looks a bit garish.... Fancy some yellow in your life?
  10. Even though sometimes it seems like you are taking one step forward and two step backwards, if you harden up you can conquer even the greatest mountain.....just don't forget your paper! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DMsAP7Q ... re=related
  11. Moody! I'm feeling some love for your arches too, the 350Z should have left the factory like that
  12. This is a good philosophy, life's too short. As Abraham Lincoln once said - "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Bit deep for a friday
  13. The accepted plural is "roofs". The plural of roof is roofs or rooves The Oxford English Dictionary lists "rooves" as an alternate, one of several outdated spellings used in the UK, and in New England as late as the 19th century Thanks for the advice all the same. I nominate Rothers as the new forum know-it-all
  14. I like the one where Davo paints Simon's iphone with tippex because he's mentioned he wants a white one
  15. this quote made me laugh That website is pure class It just had me laughing into my screen for an hour

    Tyres Help

That's pretty cheap for tyres that size. I had a quick look online and couldn't see much info about that tyre, apart from a chap in NZ raving about them. I'd steer clear personally, due to lack of info out there....
  17. This is what I don't get, the gardener issue is the same as the neighbours wood sawing really, if someone isn't doing something properly and it affects someone else they should be made aware of it Honestly, that gardener must be really good or really cheap if she's worried about being struck off his client list. This status quo is all wrong IMO
  18. The best course of action is to to politely ask that next time he cuts wood he does it away from your driveway. I'm sure he'd understand that? Buy him a beer after he's shown some consideration for you
  19. Thanks Mike, it all worked fine the day after. Maybe it was some network setting or other at work
  20. Jeez, fook that mate, I'd have gone through the roof. Especially if they fibbed as you say - and you'd already made it clear that you'd be the one warming the cats When my garage did the MOT brake test they asked me to drive as I was sat waiting anyhow....
