The thermostat is at the front of the engine and fairly easy to get at but I would think that the issue may be more connected to your fans.

If the trickle charger does not charge the battery due to it being totally flat then best to remove the battery and hook it up to a proper charger at your local garage. Sometimes this is required just to kick it back into a chargable state.

I can help with a preowned throttle body mate but before you send over your hard earned to me I would suggest that you give the throttle body a gentle internal clean taking care not to the "disturb" the butterfly. I would also carry out a throttle body reset as has previously been suggested. I would also give the MAF sensor a clean and make sure that they have not over oiled your new panel filter. If at the end of the day you find that you do require a throttle body, then just drop me a pm and I can ship out the same day. Cheers, Alex.
