Thanks for the advice! I assume I will have to take the wheel off ideally to get at the dirt shield? Correct: Wheel off to check the pads and dirt shield.

Metal dirt shield touching brake rotor, just bend it back to clear the rotor. Also check the worn brake pad warning device if fitted.

Sounds like you may have had an issue with just fitting the rocker cover gaskets.

Circa £1200.00 for a half decent job including paint and materials for a standard colour.

As I live just 1 hour South of Inverness, this is virtually on my doorstep. I have done this complete route four times over the past ten years, twice clockwise and the other two times anti clock. Prepare well and hope for good weather and you will have a trip of a life time. We are planning to complete the same route again in 2016 but with the Motorhome this time. Alex

Sorry mate, no idea. Never heard of this valve issue before. Are you sure that the interpretation of the "fixed" issue is accurate.?
