    Changed hundreds of those over the years and when a removal tool was not to hand I used thick water pump grease which works a treat.

    Castrol SRF is the choice of the informed, but as Snjur says, expensive, however less fluid changes, so cost effective and it does what it says on the tin.

    Your flexy looks no worse than most others.

    Just make sure that you use a pH Neutral Snow Foam

    I don't think that the flexy is your issue. Have a look further back where the mid pipe joins the rear box

    I think that you have been extremely unlucky as mechanical failure of Hosetechnic lines is almost unheard of. However, one failure is one to many and a compensation claim would not be deemed as unreasonable.
