  1. Bit of a late one this, I know! Any one fancy joining a few Porkers, a GTO, an Impreza and a hot Clio for a dyno day this Saturday at Evolve Automotive in Luton? They've got a very good rep using Dyno Dynamics gear and it's always good to see exactly what your car is putting down, whether it's good or bad! Cost is only £40 for as many runs as it takes to get a stable reading, which is very fair. List is pinched from 911uk but feel free to add yourself if you're interested. I'm sure a few pax rides can be sorted out too if anyone wants one 1. gadgetJunky72 - 997 C2S 2. Gibbo - 997.1 C2S 3. Frosty993 - 993 C2S tip 4. Kevinuk - 993 c2 tip 5. Ekona - 997.2 C2S 6. 2. My best blag was a 987 Boxster S when they first came out back in 2005. I rocked up off the street, no appointment, in t-shirt and lairy shorts, in an horrendously loud MR2 and sporting a freshly-shaven head! How on earth they even gave me the time of day, let alone a really long test drive in the car I have no idea to this day. Worked out nicely for them though as I came back 5 years later and bought the 911 off them, so it always pays to be nice to potential customers even if you think they might be taking the p*ss
  3. If you can get cable, I'd go for Virgin. If you can't and are stuck with ADSL, then I'd go for BT Infinity. No other decent options that I can see right now. That said, I'm with Be and their customer service is simply without equal. Up to 24Mb speeds too if your line supports it.
  4. Personally I'd put a good suit on, get my Mum to ring up a Ferrari dealer as my secretary and book an appointment, then turn up and blag a car for a weekend as you want to know how it feels to use before you put down an order for a couple. And I'm only half-joking, too...
  5. That's the one, I knew it was something obvious. Never heard any complaints about them, that's where my money would go I think.
  6. V6 and supercharged V6 lumps aren't they? Beautiful but oh so pricey for what they are, I'd have one in a heartbeat though
  7. Overtightened or not tight enough, could be a dodgy seal and under heavy acceleration you end up with an air leak. If the specs were 20ft lbs and you used a torque wrench then you should be fine, probably just a bit of errant coolant like you say
  8. Doesn't Simon George have a 458 he uses for experience days? Not sure of his company's name, but I'm sure a Google will turn it up for you
  9. How tight did you do the spark plugs up?

@Dave: Nope, you leave the motorsport battery in all the time but it won't hold charge for as long as the regular one, so after you've left your spanky GT3RS in the garage over the winter you swap them over to actually get the car started for a little run. You can then go back to the tiny battery for the track day season. In theory, of course. Personally I'd just drive the thing more and only use the lithium battery
  11. Bug and tar remover + clay bar + plastic spatula from a George Foreman grill = GREAT SUCCESS Oh the amount of gunk I've cleaned off cars over the last few years after using that combination...

Don't worry, they give you the normal one as well for that price It is a work of art though:
  13. Running better pads up front is fine as that's where most of the braking is done, putting better pads at the back shifts the braking backwards and can lead to some 'interesting' moments.
  14. Can't stand the soaps actually, I just don't see why LNOTP has to take over the BBC1 schedule when they've got BBC2 or BBC4 for this kind of thing. I do appreciate music and circumstance like this sometimes as long as I'm in the mood for it, so I can see the appeal, it's just not something I'd personally choose to spend my Saturday night watching.
  15. They've taken Casualty off for this guff
  16. Check out the title of the pages I want that beach buggy though
  17. EJ is right though, the new teams should be making progress but they're not. Even Lotus, who we were promised would be mixing it with the middle teams, just aren't getting anywhere. Hell, they can't even compete with Williams who are having their worst season ever. There has to be signs of improvement or sponsors are going to start walking and taking money with them. Vettel was great today again, but Webber is clearly only in this for the money now. He's a shadow of the racer we've seen in previous years, which is a shame as he's possibly the nicest guy on the grid. Lewis looks fed up and desperately wants to be in a car with Red Bull on the side. Am very glad the Ferrari look sh*t though, go suck a lemon Alcocko!

Exactly, although you'll be hard pushed to find one that does everything as well as a C2S sadly (R8 is too slow and has no storage, Aston is too slow and too fragile, and what else is there brand-new for £100k?) so it's still going to sell like hotcakes.

Have a go on the configurator then My ideal spec comes in at just under £100K, and that's without going mental on all the various trim pieces you could get Utterly mind-boggling money for a C2S, and yet they can't take the orders fast enough apparently. I do like the car, and the interior is certainly growing on me and a better place to be than the 997, but there's nothing there that would make me want to upgrade at this point.
  20. If he wanted a bigger car, then absolutely. Great call Stew
  21. You'd do well to beat the big guys right now, and unless you want to run it as a sideline for friends I don't think it's worth the bother. I just bought a custom PC from PC Specialist, and not only were they very competitive on price but their service was also unbeatable.
  22. Folks, if you have any interest in keeping your car looking its best then you must get your name down for this. I did it last year and it opened my eyes to just how you can and should use a DA machine, never mind the potential bargains to be had there.
  23. But you suggested an Astra!! I suggested a 2.0T Astra or VXR, the VXR which is probably as quick as a Zed - you guys were going for a 118 Diesel! He also said he wanted good MPG as a must, which neither of the two Astra variants will do
