  1. Nowhere near £20K. £250 for your ARDs, £5K for a Cat-D Zed, £200 for pads, £1K tops for suspension, £1500 - £2000 for cage & extinguisher & cutoffs, £500 for seat & harness, and then whatever you want to spend on safety gear but around £400 is doable for the minimum. Under £10K for a competitive car, sorted. That said, you have to be prepared to write off the cost of the car if you bin it, plus body damage at each race, & the entry fees, tyres and timing bits at each race. That's where the costs quickly add up.
  2. Having a sticky for the blatantly obvious does seem a tad overkill in my most humble opinion. Also, is your car one of the super limited editions that doesn't come with a 98 RON sticker inside the fuel cap? As much as I'm clearly taking the mick here, I do genuinely feel sorry for any car enthusiast who has an engine go pop on him as it must be one of the worst experiences you can possibly have and I'd be gutted. That said, there has to be a certain amount of common sense used when owning a car, and certainly a little bit more when owning a performance one you admittedly drive the ass off of.
  3. Just double-checked mine and it was actually 1860kg, so that would sound about right Chris.
  4. What does it say in the manual? There's your answer I would always put super in unless an emergency. Always.
  5. A tad too high, I've had a fairly standard Roadster weighed with a full tank & fluids & driver and it came to 1760kg IIRC, so knock off approx 50kg for the roof mechanism, 95kg for the driver ( ) and 75L of unleaded and you'll be there or thereabouts I reckon.
  6. I'm assuming at a minimum you'd be looking at: Full cage Extinguisher system Elec & fuel cutoffs And then for mods you keep it free for: Pads Dampers & springs (non-adjustable), or maybe leave these stock for low cost? Exhaust Intake ARBs ... and I reckon you'd have a decent sized grid without breaking the bank. Run the 888s as control tyres and you're laughing, hell I might even be tempted to flog the MR2 race car and build myself a Zed instead! It's a great idea and one that I hope gets the grids it deserves.
  7. The car should be run on 98Ron, it even says so in the manual. Not saying that's the cause of your problems, but if you do get another engine dropped in then it's worth bearing in mind for the future. Still, I am sorry to hear of your woes, get yourself down to Abbey they'll look after you
  8. Actually, this is a point that gets lost a lot amongst Ring goers. I cannot believe that people drive the Ring on a TF without a helmet, it seems utterly crazy to me when you consider everything going on around you.
  9. the OP wants some snow tyres for the wheels Bugger
  10. But you'd need new tyres with the 17"s, which would be more expensive than just swapping the 18" tyres over
  11. He's already tried swapping the wheels around I can't believe that the now sadly defunct V6s use completely different wheels to the rest of the TT range, as long as the wheels clear the calipers they'll be fine for test purposes. I wouldn't use Zed wheels as they're staggered, and you say that the TT tyres/wheels are identical.
  12. My guess would be the tyres. Even if the wheels are balanced you can still get a tyre that's out of round and can cause the same issues. Get back to Audi and get them to physically swap the wheels with another set from another TT, at least that way you rule out it being anything to do with the wheels/tyres if it doesn't solve the issue.
  13. It would've been a great race if they'd given Seb a drive through for that early doors and he'd have had to fight his way back through the pack.
  14. Thing is, JB was correct. He obviously gets on well with Seb as the jokey congratulating punch during the weigh-in in qualifying shows, but there was no need for Seb to do a Schumi and shove another driver off the track, especially when the championship was 99.9% already his. He was wrong to do it and I suspect when he looks at it again this morning he'll realise that, but in the heat of the moment he didn't want to back down which is understandable.
  15. Pre-facelift Zed lights aren't that hot, post-facelift are significantly better.
  16. Definitely split it, someone would have to be bonkers to pay £10K for a 9 year old import.
  17. I like the gearknob, looks very meaty
  18. Whether they're road legal or not (and I'd love to see the tests the guys do when fitting the film to ensure they are legal), reducing the amount of light given from the lights just seems a really daft thing to do when most of us complain about how poor headlights are and wanting to be seen on the roads at night. Granted they look more aesthetically pleasing and pop them on for a static show, but making yourself harder to see or reducing your own vision just seems very counter-productive.
  19. I'm now desperate for Lewis to smash into Massa now and take them both out of the race, I reckon we'd have a proper punch-up between the two of them after
  20. FFS even I'm getting fed up with Hamilton now They give him a great car (finally), give him the track space to use, and he's too busy fiddling with dials to get a move on and put a lap in. As much as I've defended Hamilton in the past, I was genuinely pleased for Vettel to get pole today as he seems to be a really decent guy.
  21. Ask them for proof that you authorised the works beforehand, or else you're not paying. It's as simple as that, and if it went to court you'd be laughing. That said, if you want the car back then I'd offer 50% of that as a solution since they mucked up.
  22. Yeah, I guess Siri will be how Apple will drive things forward now. It'll be interesting to see if Android follow suit, or whether they condemn it as the gimmick that I think it is. That said, would it make more sense for a tablet device to use it when you're not likely to be out and about than a phone?
  23. Seeing as there is obviously quite a large number of Apple fans on this board, it might be a good idea to try and keep all the Apple-related stuff in the one place. So, anyone got any ideas/rumours/insights as to whether Apple are sticking with the 12mth plan for iPads, or going to 18mth as per the phones? Not sure I want to wait too much longer for the iPad3...
  24. Who cares? If they've got the money then fair play to them, why wouldn't you want to have the best available? It's like any other upgrade for anything be it phone, car or kitchen, as long as you're comfortable paying for it then why not? That said, I let my 3GS contract run out specifically for what we now know to be the 4S, but I'm not getting a new contract just for a minor upgrade to the 4 I managed to acquire a couple of months ago.
