  1. Alignments should be done at least once a year IMHO, possibly more often if you drive on bad roads regularly. A good wheel alignment can make a car feel both agile and stable, a bad one can make it feel lumpy and wandery. The difference is fractions of a mm...
  2. If you're changing the flywheel, do the clutch at the same time as the labour involved far outweighs the cost of the parts.
  3. For another perspective, if I was changing the flywheel I would only ever consider a SM one. The extra free revving ability that it gives you brings the car alive in a way that another 30bhp would struggle to do, and it feels like a proper sports car rather than a lumbering ol' lump. The slight rattle you get at idle is nothing more than a minor niggle compared with the benefits you get. One of the best mods you can do to any car IMHO. The truth sits somewhere between mine and Chris' opinions, I would think.
  4. Update time! I needed to remove the stock seats from the car today to get a measure up for fitting the new ones, as I was unsure if the OEM rails would either fit the Cobra seats or whether I'd need to come up with a creative plan. There's also the minor issue of removing the little humps of metal which are spot-welded to the floor pan and need to come off if you want to get the seat really low (which I do), and then I'll need to drill the floor pan itself and bolt through. I decided to take out the quite pretty and in very good nick chrome roll hoop structure thing, and whilst I was removing things I decided to remove the stereo as it's pointless keeping it in there so I set about dismantling the centre console which can be done in 7 screws and 3 mins, I kid you not. Stereo came out easy enough, but then I thought that with the bare aerial lead in there floating around I might get some weird noises from the speakers, so they should probably come out as well. And then there's the door cards themselves... I ended up with this little lot ready to go into the shed, it's all utterly mint: I assume there's no issue with running without door cards? Just got the plastic sheeting there covering the central locking (which I managed to fix on the driver side, yay!) and the electric window motor. Doesn't look pretty but it's lighter! Would any of this cause an MOT failure? I don't think so, but it's only 10 mins to put the cards back on. It feels a little bit more like my car now, and so in good fashion I just had to put some stickers on it, which will give a hint as to the secondary colour that I'm going to use for some cheap-ass viper stripes... Just waiting on the sticker company to get back to me, and then it'll be pink vinyl all the way baby!
  5. As a rule, if the oil level is fine and the pressure gauge needle isn't going to either extremity of the scale in use, then there's no problem.
  6. I'm assuming you've checked your oil level in the last 18 months?
  7. Looks like Stew according to the list.
  8. Fear not folks, I have been informed that Zedley is alive and kicking and updates are imminent
  9. My Dad had one a few years back before the Hummer. Horrible, plasticky lump of a vehicle. I absolutely hated driving it, from the zero-feel steering to the gearbox akin to stirring a bucketful of bricks to the sports dash that was just some thin plastic stuck on top of the standard dash with some double sided tape. It had the power pack as well so had a bit more poke, but still ran out of puff well before any diesel engine should. It looks pretty good from the outside, but other than that it's a dog of a vehicle. Sorry!
  10. Indeed, Tarmac have you got him?
  11. I hope Spurs go on and equalise at least now, after that horrendous refereeing balls-up. They won't though, it'll be 3-1 Chelsea.
  12. Best race for a long time. Cars very evenly matched, Rosberg did very well to keep the lead and it was a shame about Button and the wheel nut.
  13. "Not been this disappointed since Shrek 2!" Martin Brundle, we salute you.
  14. Did you use a proper detailing brush, like a Swissvax or a copy? That's what I use on my 10-spoke wheels, works a treat getting to the brake calipers in their entirety
  15. Brakes and tyres, if you haven't done so already. No point having 400bhp if you can't stop the car
  16. I've seen a Cayenne Tubby screaming round the last corner before the pit straight at Bedford before, after the Caterham it towed there decided it wanted to self-destruct 3 laps into the day. Utterly brilliant to watch!
  17. To be fair, that could happen to anyone in any kind of car if you're pushing your own or the vehicle's limits. Whether it's an SUV or saloon or a sports car makes little difference if you're driving like a knob. I'd love to get my truck on a trackday one day. Need to find a cheap airfield day methinks...
  18. Nice one Zugara, you've just made me seem normal
  19. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay past therapy Tell I'm wrong though?
  20. VXR is an old car now and came out when people still had money and didn't care about VED. Same for the older Meganes, and you don't see many new Megane RSeseses about. No-one wants big engined cars anymore: Look how cheap the older Mercs, Audis, BMWs and Jaaaaaags are on PH. fact of life sadly, which is why everyone is downsizing.
  21. The 370Z is less than £30K. Just.
