  1. Blimey, haven't updated this in a while... Right, decision time. Did Anglesey on Saturday and the car was absolutely immense. I was quicker through Church than most things (R34, EvoX, big power 200SXs and I have video to prove it!) despite being on crap tyres and leaking suspension, and going flat out through there and getting oversteer right at the final part is incredibly scary/exhilarating I would like more power, but that's by the by really. I now need two new rears as I drifted the f*ck out of the current ones going toe-to-toe with someone in an MR2, which was absolutely superb fun. However, the car is now suffering badly. The oil leak at the rear crank seal is as bad as ever if not worse, there's one from the rear cam sensor too now as well as an unknown one from the front somewhere. It burnt quite a lot on the way home too, as the pressure was dropping fairly quickly and since the dipstick is useless, that's the only way I can judge how full the oil is (and yes, I know I've bitched at folks on here before about doing the same with their Zed!). One of the cam cover to block bolts was found to be finger tight after one session, so I borrowed some tools to nip it up but also decided to check all the others too: This lead to snapping one bolt off, so that needs fixing too. In short, I'm going to have to spend some money here. Here's my options as I see them: 1. Obtain new engine from eBay and fit myself. No guarantee the new engine will be any better, and fitting could be an arse. Cost is about £400 to £500 est. 2. Obtain new engine from trusted supplier and fit myself. Engine should be good, fitting still an arse. £700. 3. Take car to garage, get them to fit new engine. £1200. 4. Take car to local specialist and get my engine rebuilt. 12mths warranty. £1300. 5. Remove engine & 'box myself, and rebuild engine myself depending on what needs doing. Cost £50 (just seals and bolts) to £1000 (I have no idea what else could be wrong!) and I have no idea what I'm doing. I know what my initial preferred choice is, and I know what my sensible head is telling me to do. Thoughts?
  2. What do you think you're going to claim for? Unless that tree was about to fall over and the council (not the HA, btw) knew about it but did nothing, then you won't be able to prove negligence and any claim will fail. I feel for you dude, but it's just plain ol' bad luck. Without trying to sound like a complete arse, you should always drive to the distance you can stop in, and if you'd been doing so you'd have seen the tree and not scraped it. I'm not saying that I'm not as guilty of that as anyone, as it's so easy to do on roads you know, but that tree could just as easily have been a broken down car. Glad you've managed to get the car (almost) sorted dude, could've been much worse.
  3. Fair enough, at least you're honest with yourself Is this woman the same one you bought the flat with?
  4. Forgive me, and whilst I feel sorry for how you're feeling, but if this other woman is very happy in Canada with her new man and family (kids involved?) then is it not a tad selfish to play the guilt card to get her to come back? I'm sure I don't have the full story, and if you'd like to PM instead of post here that's cool, but that's the first thing that came to my head. You're only 23, a year younger than I was before my fiancée left me for another bloke and I thought I'd never find someone else, but I did and now I'm married to that person and am happier than ever.
  5. Epic day was epic. Will do my vids later, hoping I got some decent footage Great meeting you both, and Docwra too who may just about be getting out of bed after last nights' shenanigans
  6. I must be a mug then, I pay for everything Except for her shoes and handbags. No chance I'm coughing up for those.
  7. I can't get my head around couples who have a single bank account. I'd hate it if Jo knew what I actually spend my money on!
  8. Better for less you say? I'm sold! Sorry mate, forgot about yours
  9. When the Motordyne one is only £175, why would you bother with anything else? That's peanuts.
  10. Don't replace it just yet, it's not a cheap part, just give it a clean up with some carb cleaner spray and that may well sort it.
  11. GAIDMGLOL
  12. You can honestly do the MAF yourself, it's a 30 min job and that includes the 25 min waiting time for the spray to dry
  13. Did you have problems before the service? What service was it? Did they change the plugs?
  14. If you're stupid enough to send cheating texts from your main phone, then you kinda deserve all you get. Remember kids, always keep a crappy phone with a PAYG SIM in it just in case.
  15. Dyslexia is fine btw. Just run the text through a spell checker before posting (mine is built-in with Firefox) and it'll correct 99% of the mistakes for you. You did pretty well, I'd never have guessed at all
  16. That's the point. He hasn't improved it. He's taken out separate components and replaced them with coax. It's like taking the V6 out of your Zed and replacing it with a 1.8L 4-pot from a 1980's Escort.
  17. Do you have the button ticked though? Will be the same across all formats.
  18. Why? Did it not help you?
  19. Bend over, lube up, buy crappy old shed or Aygo and expect to pay £4K for the privilege. You may possibly have some luck if you move to an insurer who requires a black box fitted, but I wouldn't want that on any car shared with sensible adults.
  20. Brilliant idea, if you assume that everyone only uses their vehicle to commute or travel to a specific place. For everyone else who pops out to do things at odd times, or just goes for a hoon, it'll never work. Due to how the Western world actually works, I can't see this happening in my lifetime, or anywhere close to it. Maybe in communist Russia where the car drives you, but not here.
  21. Don't English Vauxhall Astra Ford Mondeo Someone ;) Still, at least you got bought correct, and didn't write brought as many do.
  22. Buy a 3 I'm only half joking too. The lens is so vastly improved even from 1 to 2, let alone from 1 - 3, I don't think there's a better way to get it sorted than to upgrade. Which I guess is what they really want...
  23. Cool, thanks chaps
