  1. There's a difference between making a dash for the yellow and jumping a red. That bloke jumped a red, he was quite clearly never going to make it. And funnily enough Dblock, most of us on here are careful drivers who have an ounce of common sense and tend to not jump a red light. Try not to tar us all with the Brush Of Crap Observation And Driving that you seem happy to paint yourself with
  2. Everyone loves a Singer. I saw some of this last night, the bit with Hammond driving the Sesto Elemento. It was gash. Poorly scripted, not funny, not particularly well shot, and zero emotion of the car. It disturbs me how one of my favourite car journos, Dickie Meaden, can be involved in something so incredibly tedious.
  3. Amber after red means release the brake NOW so launch control takes over, and let's you rape the snot out of that Transit that's been sat up your arse for the last 6 miles.
  4. MY EYES THEY BURN WITH AIDS Those wheels are a shocking choice.
  5. I'm going to quote this, for that time when someone jumps a red light and ploughs into the side of your car. Will it just be a tiny mistake then?
  6. Depends. Will it affect the settings you have on the car already? No, I don't think so, unless you're particularly cack-handed and knock crap out of the car when fitting them. Will they affect the way the car handles afterwards? Yes, so the car will no longer handle like the geo you specified. That may seem contradictory, but it's not.
  7. I don't want to live on this planet any more.
  8. I think it's geared to around 186mph. A non FI car wouldn't get near that though, unless you had a bonkers NA build.
  9. S1 HNK and Sarnie are spot-on. Either buy a cheap shed and accept it for what it is, or buy something cheap and fun that's not necessarily quick (172 and MX5 for that sort of money). Everything else you've mentioned is going to be pricey to keep on the road, and if running costs aren't an issue then save for a couple of months which allows you to double your budget and get something that will actually survive without costing you a small fortune. How you can write off stuff like a BMW or Celica but put interest into an ST170 which is as boggo and common looking as anything I've no idea. I do like the ST170s, but I wouldn't say they've got anywhere near the street cred (which I'm guessing is what you're after) of something like the Celica.
  10. All of those can cost a bomb to run. Double your budget and get something more reliable?
  11. Very possible. It's a 5 year old car, my slave and master went on my Revup when it was but a mere four years old. Bleeding the clutch is a pain, but your garage could well be right. Change both slave and master together, the parts are peanuts compared to the labour.
  12. Surely that would be better than getting pulled and given 3pts? Ask the question, get it tested, if it's fine then you'll never have to worry again.
  13. What cleaning products did you use? And black is fastest, but blue is best

    alignment?

Straight away, really. It will change fractionally after settling, but masses after changing springs. I wouldn't bother doing it twice unless you're loaded. Go somewhere that can do you a proper setup, not just £40 to get back somewhere within Nissan specs.
  15. Genuinely, don't bother. They won't cover clutches anyway as they're wear and tear. Worst case scenario is the engine breaking. £1500 and you're back in business, so it seems a waste of money to look at warranties for the kind of money you're looking at.
  16. This. Obvious, really.
  17. Buy cheap, buy twice.
  18. Good pics, especially pic4. I hope you waxed it as well after all that polishing
  19. However, you may or may not have noticed that the Admiral group have no disappeared from the comparison websites. The reason? Their prices have rocketed up about 30%, and are no longer the go-to bargains they used to be. One can only assume this is because, as I said a couple of years ago after someone pointed it out to me, that they've now got their massive market share they were after and are now targeting the I-don't-bother-searching-at-renewal-time people more than ever. Look lively kids, insurance is about to get much more expensive for those that relied on Admiral group for reasonable sports car insurance.
  20. Those blue ones would look horrid, sorry dude.

    See, I'm a genius
  22. Good price for a trade in, take it.
  23. Any of the Zeds are fine in the winter, you really don't need new tyres as long as you're sensible and drive to the conditions. Well, unless you live in the mountains or on a farm and have a lot of rough ground to cover through thick snow, then clearly they're not great. But then, no normal car would be either.
  24. It used to be very hush-hush, but it's a bit more open now in terms of what you can talk about on open forum (think Fight Club! ). It's held at Bruntingthorpe, and it was £200 when I did it. They've got proper timing beacons there and apparently they're much more accurate now than when I went, as they didn't work sometimes and you had to go off your speedo. They are getting more popular and so spaces for normal cars are much more limited I think, but you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket
