If you mean Thorney, then I wouldn't bother. He got a great rep very quickly for big reliable power, but then it all fell apart when one M3 owner showed the pictures of TMS's 'handywork' and John threatened to sue the arse off him if he didn't remove the pics. Then there was the infamous NA-dyno-gate of 2007, where apparantly the NA VX220s didn't make the required power on other dynos because they kept slipping on the TMS one when the power run was done, despite the NAs making a fraction of the power of a tubby. Whilst I'm sure that the garage you mention are fine, the Thorney brand as a whole should be treated with a little contempt IMHO.

It's only 7.5L officially, but some folks have ended up putting over 8L depending on how much drains out. The semi dry sump has many baffles that oil can hide behind, apparently.

Just a random post for anyone wondering how much these things cost to run. I'm doing an annual oil change next week on the car as I don't trust the 24 mth intervals Porsche recommend, so I ordered all the bits today. 10L of Mobil 1 0w-40 = £70 Filter & housing = £33.50 Washer = £1.20 Sump plug = £4.50 Total cost = £109.20 just for parts, no labour at all. Not cheap, but not excessive really.

I run the RE050A on my 911, and they're good. Not as good as the MPSS, and for the price difference I'd much rather use them if I were allowed.
-
Yeah, it's the horrible PCM2.1 stuff that kills it dead for me as well. I can see what they were trying to do, but it just looks so dated. Much better, IMHO. Apart from the two-tone seats.

TYRES TYRES I'M SURE SOMEONE MENTIONED TYRES If you're on a budget then match the fronts as mixed tyres are not a good idea IMHO (see the Sticky in the sub-forum for more details), however I would suggest that in this case you would be much better off replacing all four with something decent. The MPSS are incredible, as whilst they're both grippy and full of feel they also last ages too, and you will more than claw back the extra cost. That said, if you're happy with the VUS then just get four of those, although they're a dead brand now so you may struggle to replace in the future if you need to (puncture etc).

It's all about design and quality. Personally, I think the 370Z interior is a mess of materials and the mixture of digital and analogue is jarring, and in that respect I find the 350Z much better. Clearly the finish quality is better on the later car, though. On the other hand, whilst the 9x7 cars (assuming you mean that age, judging by the cost) may look a little dull, it's incredibly functional and the quality is bang-on the money. A 100k miler 9x7 interior will look as good as it did the day it rolled out of the factory: Try saying that with a Ford or Nissan. the 9x7.1 cars look dated due to the PCM 2.1 system, but the 9x7.2 cars did improve on this with the PCM3 touchscreen (part of the reason I wanted a 997.2 car!). The 9x6 cars were a shambles, both in quality and aesthetics, but if you go back to the 993 and previous you'll again see that even 30-40 year old cars are holding up superbly, and much better than anything else of that era. Try finding a 355 without sticky buttons or peeling leather and plastics, or trying to find everything first time on a 458. The first is poor quality, the latter poor ergonomics. And they're much more expensive than a 370Z!

You can, yes.

Brilliant I used to do a similar thing when I worked in a pub/restaurant, but we had to tell them as soon as they started queuing else the manager got the hump

That's a really good price considering you have no NCB to put on the car, who's that with if you don't mind me asking? I pay that for the MX5 shed for a year, albeit it's in track spec so all the mods covered, but even so it's worth significantly less than a 350Z!

This isn't even a facelift revup car, it's a standard DE one so you get all the downsides of the higher tax and the crappy interior and lower rev limit with absolutely zero benefits. It was made in very early 2006 at the latest.
-
That's very cheap for £13K. I'd ask myself why first of all. Assuming it's straight, and you could flog it on for the same price in a couple of months if you got bored, then why not?
-
Miles too expensive. It's an eight year old car that's only done around 2000 miles a year as well, I'd bloody hope that the servicing is spot-on too as that's very low miles, which means you might well have a few gremlins left to sort out.

With Halfrauds, Costco et al it's not queuing for a shop, it's queuing because you got there a little too early before it opens. I do that a fair bit with the shops on the local retail estate, especially on a Sunday when I just want to get in and out as soon as it opens, so I always end up arriving 2-3 mins early. That's why I just sit in the car, as arriving early isn't uncool but queuing to enter a shop certainly is.

If they're all the same size all round then you definitely need two new tyres, if not all four if they're rubbish ones. Personally I think those wheels are vile, but each to their own.

Good write up If you're after another good forum, try SELOC, they really know their stuff. 66 VXRs were made though, 65 for the road and number 00 for the VX heritage collection. /geek

Walk away, plenty of other cars out there. I wouldn't want to give someone that useless my money anyway.

If the child is small enough to need a booster seat, can't you just pop them in the boot? No need to worry about the airbags then, either.

Run, don't walk.

Over revs. That's why he lost, along with very poor solicitors. If you over rev the engine above certain limits, Porsche do not fulfil the warranty for obvious reasons. Also, it does not cost £25k to rebuild a Mezger unless you've got serious numpties working on it. Hell, a brand new one is only £40K! I'll go read the Porker forums in a bit, see if I can get the companies involved names, but carrying the work out on your own back after it's been refused warranty because of over revs is madness. I wonder which band of over revs he fell in to...

It might be, but equally it might not be. Context is everything. -

Depends if it was funny and witty or not, I suspect. I don't know the bloke, but I suspect his love for intelligent and creative use of language would make him smirk at a witty gay-bashing, even if the serious element underneath it might offend him. -

Absolutely, but I would rather police resources were focused on things slightly more worthy than "Someone called me a name via the internet". They cannot act on every single threat, there aren't enough police in the world for that, so unfortunately they should simply be ignoring it unless the person who has had the threat made reports it specifically to the police. It really bugs me when people get offended on other people's behalf, which I believe Mr Fry may also be alluding to in his quote on that pic StevoD posted. Usually refers to edgy jokes, but as long as they're funny I say anything is fair game.
