Don't go on which way the grooves go, you go by which way the vanes inside go. That's what cools the disc, and fitting them the wrong way round will kill them quicker than Greekman can. As above though, check with the manufacturer.

Zackerly. They're all idiots too. I get how people can justify speeding, on the correct road. It's something I'd do because I like my licence, but I can see why people do it. What I cannot fathom is how anyone in their right mind would think it's okay to go through a red light? If you're going to get rear ended by the car behind if you stop, then you're both driving like numpties.

I have never, ever driven through a red light. Anyone who has done so is a complete idiot, and I have no idea how they can even try and justify that. What part of BIG FRICKING RED LIGHT do you think doesn't mean stop?

Any BMW is not a more focused driver's car, so you can rule out any of those. Likewise any Merc. Both make great cars, but they're not more focused than a Zed. If you want more focused, but without going silly (like a Caterham, for instance) then either you get an Elise variant or maybe a Megane R26.R, or you strip all the weight out of the Zed and modify the stopping, handling and power parts, in that order. I don't think an S2K is a much more focused car to make it worthwhile changing.

The wax is crap, so basically that's exactly what you're buying it for, those products you mention. And yes, they are very good, and you get a good size sample. That's the reason I'm stopping, I already have stuff I've not used yet. A few products have dual usage, for example exterior trim cleaner can also be used inside.

It wasn't a rant at all. It was an observation, something you lack if you routinely jump red lights even at places you know to be a bit dodgy. And no, since I grew up I've not been caught for speeding. Oddly that's because I don't speed, but I'm sure you'll choose not to believe as well. I care not a jot.

There's a difference between making a dash for the yellow and jumping a red. That bloke jumped a red, he was quite clearly never going to make it. And funnily enough Dblock, most of us on here are careful drivers who have an ounce of common sense and tend to not jump a red light. Everyone loves a Singer. I saw some of this last night, the bit with Hammond driving the Sesto Elemento. It was gash. Poorly scripted, not funny, not particularly well shot, and zero emotion of the car. It disturbs me how one of my favourite car journos, Dickie Meaden, can be involved in something so incredibly tedious.

Depends. Will it affect the settings you have on the car already? No, I don't think so, unless you're particularly cack-handed and knock crap out of the car when fitting them. Will they affect the way the car handles afterwards? Yes, so the car will no longer handle like the geo you specified. That may seem contradictory, but it's not.

I think it's geared to around 186mph. A non FI car wouldn't get near that though, unless you had a bonkers NA build.

S1 HNK and Sarnie are spot-on. Either buy a cheap shed and accept it for what it is, or buy something cheap and fun that's not necessarily quick (172 and MX5 for that sort of money). Everything else you've mentioned is going to be pricey to keep on the road, and if running costs aren't an issue then save for a couple of months which allows you to double your budget and get something that will actually survive without costing you a small fortune. How you can write off stuff like a BMW or Celica but put interest into an ST170 which is as boggo and common looking as anything I've no idea. I do like the ST170s, but I wouldn't say they've got anywhere near the street cred (which I'm guessing is what you're after) of something like the Celica.
