  1. Then I'd definitely have one
  2. It's also more complicated. By increasing the strength of the engine via engineering stronger parts you need to do more testing to prove that you're on the right track, and at big power levels that's neither cheap nor easy for long-term usage. I'd have no issue at all running a built engine carried out by someone else, but I'd also accept that having someone else fiddling around rather than a computerised factory robot doing it is likely to cause more weak points. Human error and all that. But yes, cost is the primary issue.
  3. Now that's a good looking race car
  4. Sorry man but it makes perfect sense - a VQ running anything above standard power is more likely to go bang than an LS running standard power, and its pretty fair to say theres a lot more to go wrong with an FI setup than with NA as well, regardless of how well it was built. You were unlucky, but relatively speaking there arent a lot of engine failures on here, which would suggest the VQ is a pretty solid lump, EJ20's, RB26 and CA18's are all much, much worse and can you guess what they all have in common? So you reckon a built Forged engine wont outlast a stock engine when driven hard ?? I'd put money on it. Manufacturer designed and built OEM engine with £M development costs behind it vs Engine massively modified by someone for much less? Of course, you have exceptions, but as a rule an OEM engine will always be more reliable than any boosted lump, built or not.
  5. How on earth does that make any sense at all? Swapping one DE car for another?
  6. That's a good point, ta
  7. Best move I reckon, get the most out of it
  8. Yeah, found at least one page from 2012 that refers to it.
  9. Unique, but too fussy for my taste.
  10. The salesman did say that I had to promise not to crash it, as he'd spoken with the franchise manager to get one in stock and it wouldn't do his career any good if I binned it!
  11. Yup, I spoke to mine yesterday too, and they ordered a car yesterday that's due in on Oct 20th. Once past the PDI it's coming straight to me as a demo for my test, then it goes into the franchise for demo or sale.
  12. Opie Oils 10w40 isn't a bad choice at all, just make sure it's a decent oil. Basically, not Magnatec!
  13. One or two, I get. All of them? Nope, ahm oot.
  14. Ultimately, this. The programme used to be about people who actually had some talent for business, a clever head on young shoulders who wanted that chance to prove themselves. In the last few years all we get is ME ME ME people who are picked purely because they're opinionated, as the producers want people talking about the show. That may work for the Twitter generation, but personally I'd rather see some intelligence rather than a bunch of gobby cretins.
  15. That's a ten year old TV. It doesn't even allow 1080p. Seriously, you've just spent £330 on a brand new, cutting edge console: Go and buy a TV to go with it. Very quick search, but even this would be better. It's like buying a 3.8L GTR engine and trying to stuff it into a bog standard Austin Allegro. Sure, fun for a bit, but you'll soon hit the limitations of the underlying base and wish you'd connected it to something a bit more modern.
  16. I never use any company who chooses to use CityLink. I'd rather pay twice as much than risk getting stuck with that shower of sh*t. I always use Parcelforce, and have never had an issue. I know they're not perfect, but DPD don't have a depot near me else I'd use them. DPD are by far and away the best courier company out there right now.
  17. Well, if that's the case then they broke the contract, so you're entitled to your money back but not really a whole lot else sadly. It's irritating, but I'd either write a formal letter to them or never use them again. Which company was it?
  18. That's why he has silly power Great to see this almost back in action Alex
  19. What's the loss you're claiming for? What does the contract you signed/agreed to say with regards to when it will be collected? What documentation do you have saying it will be collected on that date?
  20. What input do you have on the TV? VGA or component? Personally, I'd just buy a new TV, that one must be ancient or tiny to not have HDMI.
  21. Sad, isn't it
  22. Oh I absolutely agree, if I wanted a bigger car I'd get one, rather than buy a small car with some bodywork attached to it Golf in itself is a very steady car, whilst I don't really get excited by them they do do everything very well.
  23. No probs, I didn't know myself until about 2 years ago when someone mentioned it elsewhere on the interweb, and I then rushed to go look it up
  24. Is it not the exact same car, barring the boot? Like the Focus hatch and Focus saloon?
  25. Boost threshold is the point in the rev range at which it starts making boost, lag is when you lift your foot off the gas and then plant it, and how long it takes to spool up again.
