  1. Dicky, the sun is blazing hot outside, it's a Sunday, go and find something else to do instead of worrying about the odd mm on tyres
  2. Just tell him to do what he's being paid for, and stop being so nosey!
  3. If only there was a Mod around to edit that post for the correct spelling...
  4. In that case IIRC that radial groove does not have any wear markers, so does not need to be counted and I would expect it to be less as part of the design of the tyre. Tell you what though, this thread has taught me that there are people more anal about tyres than me out there!
  5. Doesn't tell you if that was an average, identical across the entire tyre and all four, or even if that's OEM spec though. I'd still go direct to manufacturer to confirm, makes your case even stronger then

Sorry, look. A subtle drop on springs is always allowed!
  7. None of the lateral grooves count at all, only the radial ones. Some MPSS users have said that grip drops off massively once those lateral grooves are gone, but I've yet to notice that myself nor see more than a handful of people complain, so I'm not convinced it's a huge issue. Certainly I had no issues with the 050A I ran on the 911, front or back. It's very easy to work out the legal section on a given tyre, but there's no real need to as the wear indicators are there to stop any querying over the exact measurement of the 3/4. As long as you're not below them, you're fine. I always change my tyres on 3mm, incidentally. Well, excluding 888s as they only come with that in the first place!

    Stock is best
  9. So the lock is stuck? Try some WD40 or PlusGas or whatever you have handy, it's just a little stuck. A stark reminder to us all to operate that lock every now and then!
  10. Reasonable force, but ultimately I wouldn't risk the threat of a caution/charge for a bit of damage to my car.
  11. Which grooves do you mean? Do you mean the 4th 'main' groove from the left?
  12. Of course not, I'm not that daft! I changed my mind at one point and decided to move the socket point after we'd run them, and the cables were a fraction short so I had to join them under the floor. Not a huge issue, but every join brings a new possibility of failure.
  13. You can hear the NAS, but that's because I have a noisy fan at the front that needs fixing When the TV is on, you can't hear anything and I'm sat approx 2.5m from it as we speak. If you run a server with silent fans, you won't hear it at all if in a cupboard.
  14. I'm not convinced NT would know what depth 050As should be from new. Only Bridgestone themselves would know, get the info from them as well
  15. Run more cables than you think you'll need: I can promise you at least one will have a break in it, or get a nick in it, or not be long enough etc.
  16. I've never measured a set of new tyres, so no idea if that's common or not. If they look new, I wouldn't be worried about differences like that. Not all new tyres are 8mm. I wouldn't be surprised if this was standard for your tyres (what are they btw?).
  17. Always, always, always go cabled if you possibly can. Wireless is fine, but it suffers from so many potential issues wrt streaming large files that it's not always a good idea to rely on it.
  18. If you like a brick on wheels, sure. It's purposeful, but it's not pretty. In fairness, GT-Rs never have been. They don't need to be.
  19. Look in the bottom of the cabinet They're long ones, so they'll sit there ready for when/if I need to connect something temporarily to the switch in that cupboard. Good spot though sir!
  20. Worse than that, I had a VXR220 over an Elise! You're absolutely right though, I go for experience over looks. Always have done, no idea why.
  21. Not at all. I'm saying a 1 series hatch is better looking than an R35.
