  1. It depends on the TDO. But yes, overtaking under braking or mid-corner isn't a very clever thing to do. It's a trackday, not a race. EDIT: I'll caveat that with the fact it's Rockingham, and on that part of the circuit because it's so wide most TDOs are a bit more flexible. Tbh on most trackdays the later in the day you get when you're used to driving with everyone, you figure out who the decent drivers are and you'll let people past/overtake a bit later. I didn't see too much wrong on the video.
  2. Fair enough, his loss really. Tbh I can see his point, not every previous owner is happy to be contacted and some may well relish the thought of giving the dealer a bad rep if they felt justified.
  3. Phone number no, but name and address yes. It's on the V5C anyway.
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281742667856?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D281742667856%26_rdc%3D1 I think it might be missing a few bits
  5. Cripes, they're cheap aren't they?! I don't like the logo on them in the grey and red versions, and they look like a Recaro rip-off but that's no bad thing as they're very comfy. I can't see you'd have any more issues fitting those than any other seat. They'll be standard Sparco fixings, so if you can find a thread on the interweb that details fitting of a Sparco seat in a Zed then that should be fine
  6. I was in bed with man flu when all this happened. Meant that I got to watch it as it unfolded live on the tellybocks. Flags have been lowered to half mast here today at the airport, seems a bit OTT to me.
  7. It's night and day. Even if you ignore the extra power and the much nicer interior, the fact the engine revs an entire 1000rpm higher than the stock DE makes for a much more exciting driving experience. If you can stretch, you really should.
  8. This is the mkiv club, I assume?
  9. Their rules, so you have to obey them. Tbh that sounds like the perfect reason not to ever go near that forum again.
  10. There is no recall. It's also not unusual for manufacturers to alter the specs of various parts over the life cycle (and beyond) of the car, but not to recall the cars to fit them.
  11. I watched the last episode the other day. The Japshow stuff and everything about the old cars was complete garbage, but the SUV stuff was actually very entertaining. Well, until we got to the bit where Clarkson's car was sawn in half and still drove, as then it descended into farce and wasn't funny at all. I won't say it I didn't enjoy it, as I did, but it did remind me why I stopped watching it.
  12. Permanent markers on the screen work for me.
  13. Yeah, who'd want to live next door to crazy cat lady
  14. Radio One isn't cool in the slightest! It hasn't been for years, sadly. Or at least, if that's what cool is then I'm glad I'm not cool The generated playlists are pretty good, very varied and very close as to what I want to listen to.
  15. I'd like to see EVs pushed as mass transport, really. Imagine EVs as a double decker bus, or inner city taxis. That's where the tech would be perfect.
  16. I agree, some do say it just because. I drove a proper DCT, and it's great at going quickly but it removes the involvement. I used to think it was 'better' too because it was quicker, then I went back to a good manual and realised I was wrong. You lose more than you gain, IMHO. I think a good auto can be great in the right car. As much as I love the 458, it would be phenomenal with a true Ferrari H-box. Slower yes, but utterly perfect otherwise.
  17. You've missed the point entirely. I don't want quicker, I want involving. As I've said elsewhere, I'd rather go slower but have more fun doing it. Some technology is a step forward, some takes the fun away from the driver. That might be ABS which has proved itself as being a great help, TCS which is good if optional, or EVs which take away all the passion of an ICE. The 911 was great with the paddles, but it held my attention mostly because of the drivetrain layout. Were I buying again, I'd have a manual one every single time and I'd be much happier too. That's not to say that some cars don't suit paddles very well (a manual Rolls or a FFRR would be awful!), but 99% of fun cars are always better with a stick. But now we're on a whole different kettle of fish I should probably caveat that I have nothing against EVs as shopping trolley city cars, as they're brilliant for that. Every comment I make is referring specifically to fun cars, unless I say otherwise.
  18. Hate to break it to you, but it's all pre-recorded. Makes sense, it's worldwide and needs to be perfect, they'd get ripped to shreds if it wasn't.
  19. The solution to what? To a method of mass-transportation? Yes, I'll go with that. To increasing the lifespan of my hobby? No, it's the death sentence to motoring as it takes away everything that makes driving cars fun.
  20. That's a tenuous analogy, but in essence that's exactly what I'm saying. I haven't ridden for years, but even I can see why the horsey people enjoy hacking across the countryside rather than bimbling around in a car or on a bike. It's the level of involvement, I think, and it's also why having a manual 'box is usually so much more exciting than having a car with paddles.
  21. It's not clear and obvious though, that's kinda the point. EVs have their place, clearly. They can be quick, they can improve their range, they can charge in seconds, they might one day even be light. However, they can never replicate the passion of an ICE. Ever. For me, that's the difference between driving for fun and mere transportation.
  22. I don't want to search, I want to browse. Where can I do this then, smarty-pants?
