  1. Tintop no, ragtop yes. And I say that as an ex-350 ragtop owner.
  2. Why do think I bought a poverty spec one with no options? I jest, I bought it because it had a manual gearbox, options didn't remotely interest me, Electrically they're sound, you might get the odd issue with the nav or the heater but they're easily sorted for a couple of hundred. V8s can suffer from dry valve stem seals which leads to massive oil consumption and cat failure if not dealt with, but a couple of grand sees you fixed up for 100k miles. £2K might seem pricey, but that's the going rate for a new DE lump including fitting, so you can see why I say that it's no more expensive to run. BMW do a 'value pack' for brakes and stuff too, which is their way of keeping older cars within their dealers. Better fuel economy than the 350 as well!
  3. Nope, it cost me the same to run a 350 as it did run a 911. You wouldn't pay £20K for an AM gearbox though, you'd get a specialist to repair just like you would with a 350.
  4. We did a Wicked Variety bucket + Zinger Tower burger tonight
  5. What, black?! It's Basalt Black, same as my old one was. Lovely deep colour, loads of metallic fleck. I thought you'd approve, given your last car.
  6. Porsches cost no more than the 350 to run, neither would the Lotus. BMW is there or thereabouts (some prices are silly cheap, some monstrous), TVR specialists aren't cheap. Pick an Aston that's had all the niggles sorted and you'll be fine, Maser you'd need to be brave I admit. Merc I don't know about, tbh. What people really need to understand is that the 350 is very expensive to run and maintain, which makes the leap to more premium metal much more bearable than you'd think.
  7. I can think of more useful places to put my money. Like KFC.
  8. Assuming £35K budget: Cayman 911 Exige (could run it for a year and lose zero money) Evora definitely, but early cars had iffy build quality. Suspension amazing though! Vantage V8 M3 E92 Maser GT C63 TVR (pick your flavour) My pick? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-carrera-997/porsche-911-carrera-2/5942740 Don't be put off by the non-S, it's quicker than the 997.1 S and with a bulletproof engine.Manual 'box too, absolute pick of the range for me.
  9. Heh, was only reading about this today in the new issue of Car mag. Looks amazing!
  10. It's the other side of the cat, it measures cat efficiency.
  11. If they can spin it by saying all money goes to the NHS and schools, you think the majority won't suck it up? We already seem to have accepted speed cameras as a necessary evil, do we not?
  12. Post means after, pre means before, so after the cat
  13. NO NO NO BLACK BOX EVER NO NO NO The more people that give in and have these, the more they'll become cheaper to manufacture and cheaper for the insurance companies to buy. Once they're everywhere, suddenly you'll struggle to find a policy without a black box available, and then suddenly you're tracked everywhere. I'm one of the least paranoid people going, but it should be fairly obvious that the government and police would find an easy source of revenue from being able to fine people on the spot the second the break the law. This can only ever end in that.
  14. I have absolutely no idea I'd put the switch in the cabin for sure, but as to the wiring the other end I don't know if there is a separate fuse the light washer jets. If there is, then yeah, should be as easy as that.
  15. Be careful with Admiral: Your mods won't be covered should you go that route unless you take out their optional cover, and even then the value is pitifully low. I'm not saying they're a bad insurer, but you literally are just paying for basic cover and they'll do the bare minimum for you. Sadly because of your age you're pretty much stuck using the mainstream insurers, but as long as you go in eyes open you'll be fine. Personally I'd rather be insured with a company that supplies my needs on paper knowing I'll have to have a bit of a fight if I claim rather than one who I was under-insured with, but that's the benefit of an older head speaking: When I was 21 fifteen-odd years ago, I always went with the cheapest too!

Excellent, glad to hear it matey
  17. Easy, just put a switch in the line.
  18. Fast Road is compromised by its very nature, but there's nothing wrong with that. OEM 350z suspension is compromised as it's too soft if you want to track your car, OEM RR Phantom suspension is compromised if you enjoy proper steering feedback, pretty much every suspension setup is compromised to some point. So what? The only exception is the Evora, which is just witchcraft.
  19. Plus, it would've ruined the joke if I'd just said yes in the first place
  20. Jo used to call the 911 'Adolf' and the ugly MX5 'Igor'. Her Impreza is called 'Betty Beast', and my car 'Beemo'.
  21. Don't get the cheapest, get the one that covers you the best.
  22. Well done you, I'm genuinely pleased that you managed to move it on so quickly.
  23. I'd just go with some more 050As then fella
  24. Anyone buying a Switch in March for £280 then? Nope? Me neither. Price is fine, but with only Zelda at launch + Mario not coming until Xmas + pretty much nothing else on the horizon remotely interesting I think it's yet another Ninty console I'll be passing on. Little bit concerned that they only have 80 games in development (PS4 had 180 announced at launch), and the prices of the peripherals are ridiculous. They're also moving to paid online, which is fine as long as it's no more than the £40 XBL and PSN charge, and actually works. I'm also very disappointed that the screen is only 720p, I get that that was done to maximise battery life but it's just not good enough, not when even my iPhone has a 1080 screen and the S7 can do 1440! Apart from Zelda, there's nothing there that interests me at all. Three hours of battery life on that game too, which seems a bit short. And only 900p on the tellybocks allegedly...
