  1. Blimey, two years today. That's gone quick. Looks a bit different now too! OSF wheel bearing, brake fluid and very rusty rear brake lines all changed out yesterday, so she's good to go now for Friday. Tyres are looking a little low (down to 3mm front and rear on the inside) now, so will have to do some serious thinking sooner rather than later on the tyre front.
  2. Inflation actually makes £600 in '93 worth £1120 today, so definitely not far off at all.
  3. Fully comp not an option in Greece?
  4. Apologies for the slight thread drift, but this is something I've never understood. If you spent your money on making yourself a better driver, then you'd be quicker in every single car you ever drive in the future. If you spend your money on going quicker in a straight line in your current car, then you're back to square one when you move on. Improving ourselves as drivers is the one on-going challenge that every single driver ever can do, regardless of budget. Even simple things like learning how how to position your car correctly at corners, or learning to heel & toe, these things will make just as much of a difference driving in town as they will on the open roads. You can be as good a driver as you want to be, and it's a transferable skill. Without doubt, if you spent £1000 on driver training you'd be quicker than if you spent £1000 on an exhaust and remap.
  5. I just do VED by DD because I'm too lazy to remember to tax every 6/12 mths
  6. Dreadful, aren't they? My MPSS are down to 3mm on mine now, so need changing. Not sure whether to try the MPS4s just for sh*ts and giggles, or go straight to 888Rs.
  7. 130i is a cracking little car, best mentioned so far.
  8. The 4s (as opposed to the 4S) are available in 18", 4S only in 19" & 20" I believe. It may change, but I doubt it.
  9. Old news, still a stupid name. So many people are going to end up with regular 4s thinking theure 4seses.
  10. I like it when buying privately, and they ask how much for cash Finance is better for dealers, more likely to get money off if you take it out with then than with cash.
  11. They can carry more speed into the corners, due to the aero and the wider tyres. This means they're braking later, so less chance to outbrake someone. So less overtaking, which is compounded by following in dirtier air.
  12. Neither are known for being unreliable. You're thinking of Peugeot and Citroen.
  13. That's how I view the new changes too. I think it'll be worse than ever, tbh.
  14. Things break, clips fail, rubber hoses perish, gasket fall apart.
  15. I still think Massa is a pussy for coming back. It's not like Williams are exactly ploughing forward and challenging at the top, is it? Be good to see Bottas in the Merc, but I think he's going to massively struggle. Which will give RB (and maybe Ferrari?) a bit of hope, if they can steal enough 2nd places and Lewis breaks down then they could challenge. I assume no-one realistically thinks that anyone other then MB with Lewis is likely to win the title this year? Could well be the most boring year for ages.
  16. Looks ace, that's a lovely red. Did you get it coated as well?
  17. Ooh that's lovely, I'd buy that for that price.
  18. And anyone trusts the government to not change the law at their whim? Snooper's charter that was passed in November last year, anyone? If the data doesn't exist, they can't get their hands on it.
  19. IIRC on the mk1s a single exhaust is the 150bhp FWD version, personally I'd want the Quattro at least pref with 225bhp, gotta be doable in that budget I'd hope. Other than that, it's the dash clocks which go screwy and cost a fortune, check/budget for replacement. Mk2 a thoroughly better car, are they in budget?
  20. Hexhead filters ftw. Otherwise I usually get a Mann filter or OEM. Alternatively I'll simply pick the biggest one that'll fit, as more filtering capacity is really what you're after. IIRC the Subaru ones are usually a good size, or the Vauxhall ones.
  21. No, MPSC2 give significantly more dry grip than any other tyre barring a slick. Next up would be the 888Rs, then the AD08Rs. Yokos aren't even remotely close to the Michelins.
  22. No flaming at all my friend. Trouble is the Cayman is more than twice the 370, with a delicacy in steering and chassis the Nissan would love to be able to get near.
  23. Tintop no, ragtop yes. And I say that as an ex-350 ragtop owner.
