TFR will strip wax, so that's fine if that's the goal. Personally I only use the stuff on commercial vehicles, as it can be quite harsh if you're not careful. But then, that's the idea!

A square tyre setup will make the VDC far more likely to intervene (like much, much more) as you'll have altered the balance front to rear. This will make the car far more likely to oversteer, so you'll probably want to run with the VDC off permanently to stop it ruining all the fun. Unless you know what you're doing and are happy for a tail happy car, most people are better off running a staggered tyre setup. You can still do that on square setup wheels, if that's the goal. Not passing judgement on driving skills, just saying what works for the majority.

Did you ask what sponge it was? Could've been a Zymol or DJ one... Not all sponges are created equal, and there's a good argument for using a decent sponge over a wash mitt. Also a good argument the other way, mind!

You can also ask for cash in lieu of repair, which saves the car being marked as a Cat D write off. You'll prob get a smaller payout, but worth considering.

If you don't have cover on your road insurance (REIS and CCI still offer this I believe, as do a couple of the traders on here), then I normally use either Moris or InsureMyTrackday. Moris have been great in the past but are a bit unreliable to get hold of lately so I've been using IMT. Better prices than Moris, arguably better cover, I've never made a claim with them but so far the experience has been very good. You can get online quotes too, so stick your details in and see what you get. I too work on the basis that unless I can afford to come away with no car at all then I definitely want it insured.

I've not tried those ones specifically so cannot comment on effectiveness, but I'd be happy enough to give them a go I think. Plus JDM points!

Excellent brand, they do some superb quality stuff however you really, really do pay for it. That said, it's very JDM so you're also paying for the cool factor partially. Personally I'd get something just as good but not as cool for less. PF or DBA would get my money over them.

That's a ceramic disc, which as you know is a completely different kettle of fish. It's like comparing a 4 stroke to a rotary: Both engines, both provide power, but are very different animals. The original PCCBs weren't great, true, but it was a tiny percentage. Ultimately anything can fail, regardless of cost, but I'm not sure that helps your point at all. And the trouble with being wrong about one thing which you speak definitively, is that is then weakens your credibility.
