  1. I've had my GT86 for about 6 months now and sold my S2 111S Elise a couple weeks ago after 4 years of ownership. With a little one now the Elise was hardly being used and since I got the GT86 I think I went out in the Elise a couple times. They have similarities, great handling, an engine that needs to be worked to get the performance and they feel similar to drive in that the GT86 feels racey like a sports car. Ultimately an Elise is faster, handles better, stops quicker but its very hard to reach its limits on public roads so is best reserved for track not to mention the compromise in comfort and practicality. For day to day the GT86 is great as its easy to have fun at legal speeds, its not that slow either, A-B it makes good progress.

  3. I need another test drive as drove one the other day and wasnt blown away. Was really considering a M140i next aswell.
  4. Ive just sold my S2 Elise 111S, sold it for what I paid for it 4 years ago. It was an awesome weekend/track car but just wasn't being used much the last couple years. I dont know what to replace it with as nothing feels like a lotus and it was cheap to run and maintain. I got a GT86 6 months ago and I think I only used the Elise twice since then. The 86 is similar but ultimately not as fast so I've been looking at something more practical then the Elise but as fun to drive, would love an Evora but prices have stalled at £30k.
  5. I test drove this exact car, looked at myself in it and thought im too old for this and bought an E92 instead.
  6. GT86, but use to have a gen7 celica for the daily.
  7. Maybe just rumours but have heard some people are not exactly friendly towards Porsche drivers. Never experienced anything in any of my previous cars but our F11 520d does seem to get peoples backs up.
  8. Not sure if it will attract too much negative Porsche attention.
  9. Is it wrong I really like the Peridot green... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608196949065
  10. What would be the best porsche forum to join for advice?
  11. I plan to go for a 987.2 2.9 next as I understand these are more reliable and not much slower then a gen 1 987. Porsche approved prices are high but the cars ive seen have been mint and that 2 year warranty will help me sleep at night.
  12. When it comes to mk3 MR2's I was always told to avoid early pre 2003 facelift cars as there more likely to suffer from pre cat and oval bore problems.

    Drat

Door handle fell of my Alfa GT and also hand brake cable snapped, other then that was pretty reliable.
  14. Im not even bothered too much about how they drive I just want one. I've seen a couple now and they just look awesome. I'd love one in Guard green.
  15. Exige S are still silly money, you don't get much change from £30k. For half that you get 90% off the performance and fun I the form of a VX220/Elise.
  16. My warm hatch choice is always the Swift Sport.
  17. A lot of people don't bother coding a new battery as long as the replacement is the same spec as the old, I did mine as I have carly for BMW. Not heard of anyone having problems from not coding though.
  18. My loom never came with a plug so I used scotch locks to patch into the wires.
  19. http://cartechnology.co.uk is really useful, with information and software from there I've managed to do quite a bit with my old E92 and also the new F11.
  20. I can recommend a Bluetooth obd2 dongle and Carly for BMW app. I used this on a android device to code new features, register a new battery and keep an eye on dpf status and regens.
  21. Just started using flickr, 1tb free storage and a lot faster then photobucket.
  22. My first choice was grey with red interior but as you say pretty rare. Black looks great when clean but it doesn't stay that way for long. I did a few little mods to mine, M3 spoiler, led angel eyes and interior lights, black grills and alpine audio upgrade.

    Seriously?

Seen it a few times on MR2's, it happens when water gets in the relay.
  24. Still love the E92, have ways thought it's one of the best looking cars on the road. Traded my E92 320d M Sport in last weekend.
  25. I'd go 420d M Sport, it's a more quality product as the 2 series shares it's interior with the 1 and the 3/4 is a nicer place to be. 4 also has better standard M Sport spec, main one being pro nav with the bigger screen and more features comes as standard on a 4. The B47 engine is great, 190ps it pulls hard and revs higher then the older N47 engine. M Sport suspension is good, even on run flats. Much better ride then an S Line Audi. The 4 on run flats is smoother and more refined then my old E92 320d M sport on non run flats.
