  1. Personally didnt feel I was a critic, just pointed stuff out! And am awaiting performance results! And didnt realise that everyone needed to jump all over stuff when a pic of it fitted had been put up! I knew what it would look like on when I saw the first pics... I was kinda hoping it would look different though! but then I suppose you would have recreate both the upper and lower plenums and your talking a fair few ££ Glad that you have put one on but one drive isnt testing, waiting for it to be on the car for at least 1000 miles and it having been given some real hammer and then also the guarantees and were things stand on a liability front Out of interest your saying 8 to 9mm thickness... How many layers of carbon fibre are in this? Another thing is oil in the plenum, we all know we get it, any reason why oil may effect the resin inside the plenum? Also on the rubbing issue did you not add spacers under the strut bar brackets to the same thickness? When I had the cusco strut on there didnt seem to be a need to have spacers as it sat a few mm over the plenum but once hot there did seem to be some rubbing... Anyone know why the plenum would rise? Just another thought, why not put this on my350z.com and see what the guys over there have to say, quite a few experts over there and they may be able to give you some insight to testing and things to look out for?

    Lights...

30mm LED festoon for the interior lights 501 or w5w for the interior boot and the number plate lights. Have the same as Mike for the number plates but these are slightly better for the boot as it floods light in to it.. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/501-LE ... White.html If you can be ar5ed its an idea to think about putting a 12v cold cathode tube under the strut that lings to the boot light. Easy to do as all the wires are easily hidden!
  3. Not sure but £1000 for the pair inc the drivers rail is sort of a clue Ian
  4. Mine goes through the firewall behind the battery and then runs down the pax side of the car into the amp that sits in the rear cubby... There should be a big rubber grommet at the back of the battery section..
  5. Day 1 Few mods one or 2 More Interior Latest engine bay Latest incarnation.. But for how long!!
  6. Do it! I swapped my original cats (all original exhaust) to decat pipes from ebay (89pounds+pp), they have some damping, and I could swear it pulls better in 3-4,5k rpm range, maybe some loss under 2k rpm, but not sure... The sound is a little louder, a bit more raspy, but otherwise still good for everyday use. But when you step on it...oooooohhh, best spent 89pounds in years! But my engine check light did come on after 2days, reset it yesterday, so far it is off (code P0420 and P0430 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold ). But I have bought PC dongle for 30€ couple of months ago and it takes 1 minute to reset the light. Anyone knows, how long does it take for ECU to set itself back to normal? I think a couple of minutes, but could be wrong.... About MOT...I know a guy... and i have to do it every 2 years... oh, I have a 04 sunset.... So you use dodgy MOT facilities? Great news on an open forum! With regards to your engine lights your ECU will probably be going into a limp mode as the ECU will attempt to "throttle". To make best use of any intake and exhaust mods your gonna need a reflash of the ECU or a piggyback ECM...
  7. Sorry mate but not many true tuner parts there... But in answer.. Is there a pedestrian safty legislation that suits all cars? I thought that was down to new new cars having bonnets that will push the unfortunate pedestrain over the roof and not hitting the windscreen. But as a "tuner" part it aids engine cooling. Summit are Cusco copies. But yes the Cusco is at the necessary torsional stiffness for the application. No idea, were they run in right? Many other true racers and race teams use DBA without issue. Polished plenums, just bling factor, but not enough taken away to matter. If you want weight reduction then do a port and polish. Enough of us with Spills that have never had an issue, according to Pete the materails used were chosen for specific necessary requirments. Not sure about other makes K1 and K2, cats should see to emissions. As to noise?? But in reply, if you look at the japanese made items they tend to comply to JASMA regs, and they are tighter than ours for emissions and noise, so an argument for the Japanese tuner parts. I think witht he K1 and K2, its the case of how long they last and whats the quality like? Yep, have thought about the parts I buy, they tend to be ones that are tried and tested but not necessary easy to get in the UK or are readily available, but yeh I check the reviews and the other forums for info but I am also a self confessed label licker!
  8. 26 engine, 25 gear box, job done I still think 2JZ is the way to go RB for me.. And not really an expensive swap as there are kits and can be cheaper than going stock TT!
  9. Husky, this is what your one sounds like... B1ogVIvMocQ http://www.youtube.com/user/atruhondagr ... 1ogVIvMocQ
  10. Sounds good too! Have a look at hybridz and also have a look for the Esprit car with the RB26 in it... Not as pretty but the twin charged Ogura Racing packs a punch... And just incase FI isnt enough its got a bit of this too... Cant find any pics but I belive there is a VH45DE thus still keeping it Nissan.. Also there is talk about a 1UZ-FE pulling well over 1200 bhp...
  11. So when you fitting one on yours then Chris? Concerns laughable? So anything that may harm an engine without testing and some type of warantee is laughable? Happy to give you a hand fitting one to yours tomorrow!! Also think you need to go back through a few other threads and wade through the "any news yet" and you will see points that arnt positive pointing out R+D... Guessing that you would have been happier if nothing was said and pointed out? Yep I only thought about the warantee today, if I had thought about it a few weeks ago I would have said something then! Carbon intakes, yep ones from phil had issues, they leaked! Seem to remember a fair few being replaced! Erm, slightly less pressure on an intake too... Kit from Phil was generally from tuners and companies that made these via a R+D setup that tried and tested their kit in a controlled environment, he hardly had any parts that were made himself... more so rebranded or just resold... And I am sure that he would have wanted some sort of assurance off his supplier that he wouldnt be sued! Dosnt matter who the seller is, if its someone like envy now or ESR in the past, if the item had top secret or motordyne on it then it would sell as it would have a guarantee and would have been tested... I think the other consideration in this thread is the point of r+d, its not free and it takes time and effort, for this to be done properly then Scott may have to outlay some money for kit or giving it too someone that can do it will cost £ thus he will have to recoup and thus putting the price up... Goes to show why the pro ones cost £800 as they all do this first and then have to pay the insurances and indemnitys...
  12. Cause you have people that are more interested in being first to have something different... And pushing you along rather than stepping back and thinking about it.. I do belive there were warnings at the start of this post or the other one discusing it... But! I do hope that all your efforts arnt to waste and this does work
  13. Hmm never had any issues with it, used it for years. What would you suggest then? R +1 and LMAO years ago they actually let virus's out they had the cure to, to make some dosh. its invasive, system resource hogging EVIL. i run commando myself, is lovely. Betty Swollocks? Been using 7 for about 6 weeks now and love it, had no issues, beats vista hands down. (Had no issues with vista either though apart from speed!) Great features if your a Office 2007 user for live view of docs within My Computer, you dont have to open the Ap to view.. Run Sophos, great product, just sits there and does what it needs to when its needed!! Think lots use AVG too though..
  14. +1 and after reading the notes above, i would be unsure if i would buy an item if it was show use only. its either fit for purpose or its not. I know full well that this product should be, and i doubt we will see an issue. but for me its either fit or it isn't Not even if the material is scientifically more than fit for the job, well on paper at least? the only issue i could see is if the item doesn't seal properly to the lower plenum. if for soem god unkown reason the plenum splits the worst i can see is a split, and not it braking into a thousand peieces and being sucked through the engine. personally i think its fit for purpose (the material that is) personally i find the show use only thing a bit of a get out clause. (which i know its meant to be). i just think if the product works, then stand by it. Am glad that your happy that splinters of carbon and other matter could be hitting your pistons mate! As I am sure your aware one of the inherent problems with carbon fibre is that when it does crack and is damaged it splinters, one of its great properties but also one of its downfalls for certain applications! Am sure your insurance company would be happy too...
  15. You need to get an engine temp test to start both at flow and then after sitting for an hour (engine bay heats up after being driven) then it needs cooking in an oven but then it needs putting under pressure... Also FYI, after my headers were fitted and witout heatsheilds my engin bay temp at standstill was about 30% over what it was without heatsheilds.. If the plenum was in my car and it cracked would you cover it and also how would you go about proving it? Do you know the pressure at plenum will be under load? And at different rev? You need this info. It could well be that you could do this test when hot using a vacuum bag... This at least will show up any cracks... The biggy is, do they have a way of testing the ones they make for the beemers? If they do then follow this precedure but at the vacuum and temp numbers that the Zed gives. You need to be really careful about this... IMO if I bought one put it on the car and drove it and it cracked, splintered and content appeared in my engine I would be coming to you to get it sorted out or at least paying for any repairs... This product needs a warantee or guarantee, IMO you also need to get yourself some public liability insurance, as could this site as its hosting the products for sale (It may not apply if there is a caviat but I would think 350z-uk needs to make sure its covered. To be on the safe side...) Again, I dont want to put a damper on this as it looks great ( I cant see how different it would be for looks if you had your plenum wrapped though... there seems to be no apparent reason to buy one apart from looks as you would need some serious testing to show performance gains, but am interested in if there are any when its on) but if you sell these you could have issues... If you sold 10, you had 10 go wrong... I have a funny feeling you couldnt afford £2500 x 10's worth of repair bills for engine rebuilds? (Yep this is an absolute outside chance, but never bank on the least number that could go wrong....) you could end up bankrupt! I wouldnt mind seeing the inside when you get it...
  16. Also Scott, please can you outline your testing process?
  17. Is that it? Where are the centre supports?
  18. Just out of interest whats the price point going to be on this? Ball park is fine... Just having a look around at the ones done by the pros for the likes of BMW and they come in at over £800... I know the nismo one that fits on the 380RS Comp comes in at over £1500.. Its a limited market and they need to get there cash back on the R+D.. I think the interesting thing is when you look at the ammount of time that these cars have been around for and how they have already been tuned in both Japan and the US and how many tuners use a carbon plenum, esp an all in one type... I think the main area your gonna find an issue with is in the centre of the plenum where the 6 bolts are, forget about the outside area! The centre is going to cause a vacuum and then pull down... any cracking and splintering of the plenum is going to go right down the inlet... (Is this worth while trying on your own daily driver?!?) Is the plenum being reinforced in the centre to stop this happening? Also how is it being held up in the centre, remember the motordyne one comes with internal spacers.. I am not trying to put you off this mate, but non of us are first at doing anything to the cars, its all been tried and tested by people that know alot more that you or I and have put alot more time and effort in than just using the spacer as a guide and then making up a cover and then slapping it in a car.. Am sure tope secret, motordyne, cosworth etc have all given this a go and what do they make them out of? Metal... simple logic says there must be a reason why its not fully carbon! Is there a way that this is being vacuum tested before being put on the car~? Good on you for giving it a go scott, I just hope you can get a return on this but is it worth it for 5 to 10 sales in the UK at the most?
  19. So did I!!! Its a great looking car, and at a great price, great mods too. Love the work wheels, really set it off... If he had bought the volks it would have looked like your liam!
  20. Yep, its Gaz's car up for sale.... A1 condition and some great mods..
  21. Sub will fit in the space where the Bose goes... 10" one is fine.. Kenwood make a nice shallow one which will fit.. If you stick with stock and put other componants in then you will need an amp as the stock clarion (BTW the bose HU is a Clarion too) is about as usless as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to being a true audio device... BTW the bose has no Ipod input either... Oh and replace the speakers too as they are made of paper!
  22. Leaves were a pain on the way to goodwood on Sunday... glad I had had my tracking done and new tyres on!! Seemed to me that Darren was enjoying he weather though
  23. Depends on which one! Not a bumper off really, more of a wheels off and arch liner removed... easy job really... jack up, wheel off, remove arch liner (1 screw and 4 pop clips) remove oem with a short phillips (2 screws) and defit with the white ones... arch on, wheel back on, stand back, drink tea, smoke fag (delete if irelelvant) admire your work! Where you based?
  24. First thing is why?..... But as you have already bought it.. Not sure you can do it due to the connectors that are on the bose HU and the speakers...
