  1. The point of sound deadening is to reduce road noise - it could be used to reduce exhaust noise (not that you would want to do that in the 350z as its awesome) Another point is to reduce panel rattle and tinny sound you often get when you put speakers in the doors. The front doors will benefit from sound deadening as they are fairly flimsy weak sheet metal. Does it make it heavier - yes but IMO it makes my enjoyment better than the 0.1 second slower it is. Personally its no different to being a stone heavier and driving it. As for all the branding its a much of a muchness IMO. There is a difference I have found between the likes of Dynamat/Second Skin and the flashing. Personally if I was going things like doors I would use branded stuff as it seems to stick much better as you don't want deadening on the window on a hot day!. For areas like the boot etc then its worth just going for a couple layers of flashing tape as it can get quite expensive as its a fairly large area. As has been mentioned to get the best result you want to strip ALL the interior panels out of the back and then go round covering off all the holes between the panels. There are quite a few. DON'T cover the air vents in the boot though otherwise your liable to burst your ear drums if the airbags go off!. I've done the first stage of mine - will probably do the next once its nice and dry as I can't really strip it over the weekend with the weather as it is.
  2. I was looking to do exactly the same sort of thing. Could double up as a navigation and MP3 player very easily. Only problem was the cost mounts up if you do it properly
  3. This is something I would have offered to do if I had a decent garage at home (or covered area) I've tried to do a couple of cars for friends but due to the weather its screwed all my plans. Luckly I was able to use a mates workshop for the dry parts on one of the cars
  4. Not sure about the mac. There are a few for the PC I have found but none that I really like. Well I would love to get hold of this to play with - http://www.uprev.com/products/cipher_NI.html
  5. Yup sooo true and the main reason why more people don't do it. The first week is much harder on a board and often more painful but the 2nd/3rd week on a board you will progress much quicker than on skis i.e. 4 weeks on a board and you could easily be playing with small jumps, rails and powder. On skis you won't. The general rule is Skiing is easer to get the basics, much harder to get the intermediate skills but probably easier to get advanced Boarding is harder to grask but much easier to get to intermediate but harder to get very very good on. [obviously there are exceptions but thats how it evens out normally]
  6. Have fun - from the reports i have heard its medeoka out there are the moment with some sketchy runs around. Don't go using your goos skis as they will get scratched to hell. The Glacier should be OK luckly, remember to have the obligotary photo by the needles eye
  7. yeah but front bumper is a much more inovled part. Takes much longer to remove from the car, have to mess around with masking round the grills or removing them etc, messeing around with wash jet bits. With the bonnet. Its a couple bolts and its off and then a nice flat surface which is easy to prep using a DA. No need to mask it as it will be sprayed side on probably so no spray would hit the bottom i.e. very easy to do. I would expect a bonnet to cost from £100 -£150 for a top job. For £200 I would expect it to be wet sanded after and then polished to a glass finish.
  8. lol. no wonder the police can't convict people if they can't even remember who was driving the cars they have.
  9. Rain-X does wonders for a windsreen. That or give it a nice polish and it wil be beading nicly
  10. £170+VAT is a fair amount for a repsray on a bonnet, especially if they did not do any sort of blending. Its not a small bonnet but still IMO not a £200 job.
  11. What size and offset are they? Looks to fill the arches really well
  12. Not really a present but hopefully wednesday get to fit some new wheels.

    Winter Cars!

Yup and then a split second later the traction control kicks in and sorts it out for me Its all about sensible driving

    Winter Cars!

My Winter car is a nice black 350z IMO the Z is not a special enough car to put it away for the winter. Show cars that are not really meant to be driven lots or rare exotics maybe but the Z is designed and developed to be used every day. Even on the winter morning drive to work it puts a smile on my face. Just keep it nicely waxed and it will be fine
  15. If you have lots of stubbon tar on your wheels try.... Spray with AG Tar Remover Try scraping it off using blunt things like old credit cards Try using some Clar Bay to remove any bits of tar Try letting some Meg Wheel Brightner sit on them for 5 minutes (Diluted 4:1 to start with. If that does not work try it 1:1) If that does not work then I would just live with it or try it a few times to soften it up
  16. Fair play to the guy. It may look a bit silly but better than that having to jump into the people mover for a nice boring drive
  17. Has anyone got any pictures of the door being done. I can get behind the speaker just by taking it out but not sure about the rest of the door. The big metal plate that is bolted to the door, can this just be removed or does it have stuff like the window stuff attached to it? Has anyone managed to dynamat the whole of the outer skin (one of the weakest parts IMO due to the flat thin nature of the panel)
  18. The end does such a bit but overall I enjoyed the film. With it being soooo long that you can walk out for the last 3 minutes and you have still seen a 3.5h movie! I just finished getting hold of the HD version and its stunning (not small at 35GB:wacko:)
  19. Shes good but I am not sure she is amazing. The show when Delta was on it you really could tell the difference between a top singer (well shes even at the bottom of the stack still) and the wannabe
  20. What model head unit is it?
  21. First registration date: 2004-04-07 yet its a 03 plate? How does that work. Surely it would be an 04 plate? Suppose it could be personalised but thought they would have mentioned that
  22. How does that work? A filter only filters what is upstream of the filter. i.e. anything connected on the phone side of the filter has the ADSL signal filtered out. It does not affect anything upstream.

    Eye lids

Idea is good but I think it would need to be done properly as part of a modified bonnet
