  1. There will probably be last minute snipping, I recon it will go for around the £70 mark
  2. I would say if you get £1000 for the wheels you have done well. I know they cost a lot of bring over but the chances of finding someone else who would pay that sort of premium is very slim
  3. Its old old old news. Exactly the same concerns were raised when using a hand held phones were banned. Handsfree will never be banned as a) impossible to police lots of contentious issues with other serivces i.e. ambulances etc would need 'fomal' traning on how to use it .etc etc. too mant complicatrions A good start would be to police the existing law properly. Hopefully the new law witn 3 points will make more of a difference. IMO there is NO excuss for holding a phone to your ear while driving.
  4. The joys of the various colours. I love my black one when its clean but it looks a bit crappy once ditry (read most of the time now the winter months are starting) Silver does cover up the best. I sold my old blue 206. I cleaned it 100% before giving it to him and 1 month on bar the wheels it looked very clean yet mine looked a state and I had washed it 3 times since having it lol
  5. Its understandable, if you are not a real car enthusiast (although some would question having the car if you were not) then its a bit strange if someone you don't know waves at you. Theres a couple of guys at work with them but I would not wave at them.
  6. Hit the nail on the head. The modern laser guns don't have that much scatter so if it actually detects the laser chances are you have been got i.e. too late.
  7. Ah shame - supprised that you are not shown the @ wheels power as this is whats really measured and the best thing to use when doing comparisons. Always been warey of the various coast down methods etc used to work out transmission loss and guess the power @ fly (which doesn't really matter)
  8. No was not dealing direct although did get a very good price on them I know what you mean about the Beryllium stuff but I would say the 8" they do is very very good. The clarity of the bass is stunning and its not short of volume too. At least its available unlike the lesser 8" which BBG kept screwing around trying to get.
  9. Not sure who Brian and Jas are? From Four? I got them via a friend whos a dealer. The subs are a tricky one as I don't have much to compare it against as I have not heard that many 8" subs. My friend has a 8" Beryllium in his demo car which sounds awesome but costs 5 times the Hertz sub.
  10. Whats the real @ wheels power now?
  11. Alpine have been really struggling with the Bluetooth adapter, they have been trying to sort it for quite a few months now so don't expect it anytime soon.
  12. The Alpine Nav system is one of the best out there if not the best. For those wanting the best they would go for the Alpine over one of the smaller more compact things - obviously more expensive but they are worth thier while if you really need the best nav
  13. That sounds a lot of money for what you are getting. you can get bonnet lifters for around £40/£50 with the only difference being the black bracket which i am sure you could get made up for a few quid. Just a quick google shows up that this place could supply something for around half the price including the fixing bracket http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk/
  14. Nope they are 8's. I looked at getting a 10 in but it would have meant that the sub was sitting a fair bit further out
  15. Its screwed down as well although the chances of the moves moving forward is very slim. Only fits at a very specific angle
  16. Not quite as simple as that due to it all being controlled through the BCM. I am sure that stuff like this could be configured using a computer IF somoene was able to get hold of the Nissan software. I am sure its all dongled and protected to stop it getting leaked through. Alarms etc could be used to do this but its not straight forward due to the way its all controlled. CanBus is a b*tch to interface with on the cheap.
  17. So far its starting to sound very nice. The subs boxes require too much labour IMO to make it worth while making IMO. For a pair I would have to sell them for 100s to make it worth my while
  18. Hopefully they have learnt some more about how to paint cars. Its the poor paint thats the main cause of thew stone chips
  19. Don't like that bonnet. It removes the 'slick'ness of the look. To have a buldge like that you expect a real monster inside i.e. 400+bhp not just a different engine cover
  20. That was one of the main requirements of the install. i still wanted a large amount of the boot. I can still get my golf clubs and shoes etc without any problem. I 'could' have used the factory location but it would have been even more work.
  21. Well after many months of messing around I have finally finished the first stage of improving the audio in my 350z. I started off with the Bose system which is not 'that' bad for a factory setup. A few months ago I sorted out the front end and swapped out the head unit for my old Alpine - might be old but still quality. Made up some pods to house the Utopia Mid/Bass unit - The size of the magnet caused some issues and getting it in without hitting the door, window or door card was tricky I had the boot build all finished over 6 weeks ago and was just waiting for my subs to be delivered from Focal - a pair of 21V2 subs. After Focals UK Distributer screwed about for the last 6 weeks I gave up and went for a pair of Hertz subs - a fairly new company into the UK. Part of the same division of the parent company of Focal/Audison so not fairly good stuff. A Day after ordering they had arrived ready to be installed. Why can't all companies be that good. Today finished it all off. Needs a good month run-in before its properly setup but its sounding very nice. The front end is amazingly clear with a large amount of mid/bass System Alpine CDA-9833R Alpine KCA-420i iPod Adapter Audison LRX 4.300 Amplifier Focal Utopia 165W Components Hertz HX-200 8" Subs (Wired in Parallel to give a 2Ohm load) Sony HCB-700 Bluethooth Handsfree When I did the front doors I did not have a chance to sound-deaden the doors. This is my next step as the outer skins are amazingly thin. Ony good thing is that they are fairly well sealed Build Pics can also be found at http://www.convery.me.uk/Photos/My%20350z/Install%20Prep/index.html
  22. Most of the FARENHEIT screens can handle both PAL and NTSC. I had one a few years ago for a little project and had no problems with it at all. IMO they are on a par with Directed over here in terms of quality
  23. No Disconnecting the rears will not give your fronts more power. Unfortunatly it does not work like that. Just means that part of the head unit will be having some time out For speakers I would not go for the Alpines - head units they are awesome, speakers er well they are not that good (excluding F1) I would look at the likes of Focal 165A1 or maybe Focal 165V1s, Rainbow SLX265 Deluxe,
  24. A guide to a price would helpful
  25. I would not start putting mid/bass onlys in the rear. Either keep them full range coaxials or just disconnect them completly. The question is not what the head unit can handle its more how much power it will have and it will not have a lot. As your not going to be spending LOTs of money you will not be under powering the speakers so much theres a chance of damage so thats good. Putting new speakers in the doors will help as the standards are not great - even the BOSE ones are not great. I would not start getting an amp and speakers until you have replaced your head unit IMO. If you start playing the old convert speaker down to line level game you are asking for trouble. In order I would say 1) Replace Speakers - £150ish. Not too cheap that its not worth it but no really expensive you don't get the best out of it (At least put 'some sound deadening on the door behind the speaker) 2) Head Unit 3) Amp for Front Components I don't think even the standard non-bose are full range they are components so make sure you get a set rather than coaxials which are often refered to as full range.
