  1. Its quite common for parts to take a while to become available. A friend worked at Citroen and they brought out a car with a new oil filter in it. It was about 4 months later before they could actually get a filter and ended up having to hold cars that needed them until they came in Doh
  2. sl114 - Thats my point - in other cars - like my 206 (yes thats a car worth less than half the Z), the climate control included dehumidifying so I did not have to open my doors or anything to let the damp air out, over the drive into work it would remove all the damp and then it would be fine the next time I got in it. At most I would only ever have a tiny tiny amount of mist on the inside of the window where as I have a waterfall in the Z lol
  3. Yup most of the time I have it set to... Auto Placement (Front Window to start with sometimes) Temp 21-24ish Degrees + Fresh Air Auto Speed + Air Con on
  4. All other cars that I have been in with Climate control includes an element of dehumidifying in it. Over the last few days I have found that the inside of the rear window has been really wet. Today even after a 20 minute drive into work it was not clear and there was visible droplets on the window. Does anyone else find that the Z is really poor at getting rid of water/damp from the cabin? Its worse that my mums old Micra! It will also not help things like the leather etc to have damp in the air all the time.
  5. What do you mean redipped? Chromed? If so Buy a new wheel it will be cheaper lol Painted? PowderCoated?
  6. Dave - Was it just budget FEDERAL tyres you had on the Scooby or was UHP ones? They do a number of budget tyres in a range of sizes.
  7. yeah, the noise was really impressive. It was a tribute to the last designer of the Spitfire dieing. The spitfire was designed in one of the offices at work.
  8. Had this thing flying just outside our office doing a little display. Was down as a 2500ft fly-past but he ended up going much much lower i.e. probably 100m and close to some trees at points!
  9. Good Luck. I have a friend who has spoken to the Alpine tech guys and they can't seem to find anything about the units the made. It was only a couple of units on special order apparently
  10. yeah its amazing how good value they are now. For a budget system the 9850 is stunning value for money and then £650 for a screen unit is very good. For £800 you get a top of the range flip out unit - only a year ago this sort of thing would have been in the 1200/1400 mark
  11. If you have ripped the songs onto your iPod using thier LossLess codec and have it connected up to your audio via something like an Alpine head unit then the audio output could be fairly impressive.
  12. Here is a link for the steering wheel control - http://peripheralelectronics.com/prodDe ... strSearch= There are also instruction on how to connect it up etc. (Although wire colours might be different) As for which units - a few to look at would be Alpine IVA-W200Ri Double Din - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/IVA-W200 ... creen.html Alpine 9850Ri - Budget Single DIN but still very good - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/CDE-9850 ... 850ri.html Alpine 9855R - Medium Single DIN http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/CDA-9855 ... tuner.html (Not quite so good iPod interface)
  13. Hmmmmm I think the best you will find will an Alpine 1) Must be decent Most Alpines Are 2) Must be able to connect on the bose amp Possible using Autoleads Adapter 3) Must have iPod support (decent one including controls, not FM-radio fake support, got that already now ) Many models with full Ipod Support. The double din screen being the best 4) Must support the steering wheel controls Bit tricky this one but possible using an adapter which converts the controls to IR signals which then control the HU 5) Must work with the bluetooth phone kit, or, if thats not possible, have one integrated. Doesn't quite do this one although they are just about to release a Bluetooh adapter for all head units[/b]
  14. Slowly my system is starting to bed in now but the panel rattle coming from around the boot area is really really bad (worse than my old saxo and thats saying something) I am going to be dynamatting the doors to make them more solid but I am not sure what the best approach for the rear trim is as there is a hell of a lot of it. Does all the plastic need re-inforcing with deadening? Does the metal work need deadening? Does all the areas where there are clips/plastic against metal need deadening To do it all would costs £100's in sound deadening even using the good old budget flashing tape
  15. I wouldn't really call any of what has happened so far 'hacking' I am sure that those at Sony will know exactly what is capable and I am sure there is much more which will be discovered in due time. Hack linux to access the graphics SPE and then I will be impressed. Hopefully soon people get it working with video deocoder for full HD and then it will almost be the perfect HTPC. Another hack I am sure it will not be long before we see it is being able to use a XBox HD-DVD drive on the PS3.
  16. Have you looked into these guys - they seem fairly cheap and I am sure have some compatible with the stock ones. Doh - Address helps - http://www.gasstruts.co.uk/
  17. Chesterfield - I agree 100% - the whole polution thing is a complete scam. So I only do 7000 a year in my Z yet I have to pay more tax than someone who does 25,000 in their car which might be twice as good as mine on emissions but due to them doing 4 times as much driving they are still producing twice the amount than I am. They have to clearly define what they are trying to do. There is NO NO NO NO way they will reduce tax on petrol. The 'might' get rid of road tax BUT if they did I would say 0.01% of people might actually save money. The majority I bet would be looking at twice/three times what they used to pay. I think overall it is a much fairer way of doing it BUT I know the government are not going to put it in such that those doing less than average pay less than they did and those doing more pay more. Virtually everyone will end up paying more (also the fact due to it being a goverment scheme it will cost 1/2/3 billion to introduce)
  18. Might be £6K book price of accessories but I am sure he would not have paid that. Quite a few of the smaller bits he could have got thrown in
  19. TO get a reliable sort of test like that you need to run around 3 tanks worth as it normally takes that long for the ECU to fully adapt to the different RON petrol.
  20. Looks like its around £100 IMO you would be much better off just getting something like a Alpine CDE-9850Ri which has full iPod control build into it. A bit more money but a much better product.
  21. You would just plug it in line with the aerial of it. You then tune into the right frequency and it will display the song. Its just a FM modulator - there are quite a few of these on the market which all do a similar job. Some broadcast over FM (soon to be legal) and some just go in-line of the aerial.
  22. I doubt colour will make any difference to whether they chip - it might not be so obvious if the colour is closer to the primer colour i.e. black stone chips look much worse than those on a silver car.
  23. yeah the problem with lots of town driving is I fund I do quite a bit of 0-40 quick sprints and thats the sort of thing that kills the petrol.
  24. You must be really draining the tank to get £80 into it. Last night I was down to the red light and around 25miles on the trip computer. I filled up with 60L and managed 264 miles = 20MPG - This was all local driving (5 miles to work and 10 miles into town trips) Doing motorway driving I can get to around the 30MPG from a tank
