If they offer a refurb I would take it. If not get them refurbed and punt another few quid on a small claims court on them. Most companies will pay up as it will be cheaper to pay up than have to pay for a lawyer to appear at the court for just 5 minutes.

Although out of warranty you could still make a claim under the sales of good act because they are not fit for purpose. Alloy wheels 'should' last 5+, 10+ years without issue. If they fail before this would indicate a defect. The fact its over the 3 year official warranty does not get them off scot free.

Would that apply even if its still UK registered and got a V5 I wonder? (But the fact the DVLA say it doesn't need taxed probably means its no longer registered over here)
-
Nope its still running UK plates - presume its been registered over there but not 100% sure. On the DVLA its down as "Vehicle Status Licence Not Due"

Wonder if anyone knows the answer to this question.... A friend is looking at buying a car from Switzerland. This is a second hand 04 car which is a UK right-hand drive. If they flew over and everything was good i.e. V5 etc then what are the rules about bringing it home (as they are out of the EU) Would there be any taxes to pay or can they jusy fly over and then drive it home.

If you do find out what colour it is I would be very interested. As per my right up - Rays = Ford Strato Silver but not sure what the Standard 6-spoke 18" rims are

I think you have some of your inputs and outputs mixed up in the wording making it hard to work it all out... This means your connecting two OUTPUTs together? You sure you didn't mean the speaker inputs of the JL amp? Are you then trying to get the signal to the speakers by bridging the amp? Why didn't you just do... Bose Head unit...................................Bose Amp................................................Speakers Bose Head unit......CUT......JL Speaker Level input/JL Speaker Output.......CUT.........Speakers

Unfortunatly one of the big risks of buying non UK distributed equiptment. For smaller items its often a risk worth taking but on the more expensive items often not so. I presume you paid quite a bit under UK price for the sub if its been imported which should soften the blow a bit.

Where did you get them from in the US? Links?

Not a great state for a paid site

I think the big issue with the EBC pads have mostly been when they are subjected to things like track days etc. As a replacement for stock on a fairly normally driven car I think they are a fair replacement to stock BUT if you are going to be going on a track day steer clear (even though they are marketed as track days) That said I know back in my saxo days a number of people ran EBC and found them great for the track days. Who knows. Low quality rates?

Its not always the money that decides this its often the 'can't' be arsed attitude. Always question the quality of work even as a returning customer. Too many times have I see peoples fleeced because they always use the same company because they think they are doing them a good deal when in fact as time goes by the job gets sloppier but the cost stays the same (well often they end up spending more making it even worse)

Not sure I agree with that comment. Normally the clips are designed so they are held in fairly snugly. The poppers will apear loose when the panel is off the door but once clicked in there would not be much movement. So they saying the whole car rattles?

If you have a canon camera - especially thier point shoot range and fancy trying something a bit more advanced with your camera take a look at CHDK - Its a firmware add-on which enables your camera to do LOADs more such as * Enhanced ways of recording images - you can capture still pictures in RAW format (as well as JPEG), and for video images you can have increased recording time and length (1 hour or 2 GB ), and a greatly increased range of compression options. * Additional data displays on the LCD screen - histogram, battery life indicator, depth of field, and many more. * Additional photographic settings that are not available on the camera by itself - longer exposure times (up to 65 seconds), faster shutter speeds (1/25,000 sec, and faster in some cases), automatic bracketing of exposure, etc. * The ability for the camera to run programs ('scripts', written in a micro-version of the BASIC language) stored on the memory card - these programs allow you to set the camera to perform a sequence of operations under the control of the program. For example, a camera can be programmed to take multiple pictures for focus bracketing, or take a picture when it detects that something in the field of view moves or changes brightness. * The ability to take a picture, or start a program on the memory card, by sending a signal into the USB port - you can use the USB cable to take a picture remotely. * The ability to do a number of other more useful (and fun) things, such as act as a mini file browser for the memory card, let you play games on the LCD screen, etc. http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK Its really good if you want to produce HDR pics as you can program the camera to take a sequence of shots automatically changing the exposure (something normally you would need to have an SLR to be able to do)

I'm guessing that will be the Chameleon paint then. Quite possible. If the bumper was in good condition it can be fairly easy to do. That said if that price includes removal and refitting thats good going.

Its less efficient as it has to convert 12v -> 240v then again 240v -> 12v - Each conversion requires power as they are far from 100% efficient. A computer only needs 12v so a proper car PSU will probably use quite a bit less power. When you say it drops to 8/9v do you mean just for a split second and then it goes back up to 14v? (To be honest the power cap does not actually do that much)
-
Are you talking about painting the whole car - same colour or different? If you talking about a complete strip and repaint job your probably looking at around £2.5K. It could cost 1.5K if you find the right person and you pay by cash (bodyshops love cash /direct payment as insurance jobs normally take 2/3/4 months to get the money) Depending on how bad it is you might want to look at the paint films that are out there.
-
Sure it could be blended in quite well where the coin thiny is. You going to be switching to a car PSU or you going to stick with the inverter (much less efficient)

The joys of having a UK proxy Even though I am in the UK all our work traffic gets put out to Germany so we can't see any of the BBC footage. Had to setup a proxy at home to use when ever I want to watch online stuff.

Nope. This can all be installed without 'ripping' out the Bose system. You would need an appropriate amp to power them which would need a feed which can either be taken from the factor unit or an after market depending on how you want to do it. If you are worried about making sure you can return it to standard this fits that model as you would just need to plug all the standard connections in again and your back to the duff BOSE again

The nissan paint is waterbased AFAIK so it should not affect you.

Look really nice although I would change the center caps - a bit tacky to have 19" all over them.
