  1. yeah I saw that today. Can you actually get ESX3i? My understanding was it was only going to be available from with hardware i.e. blades etc. Now they are making it free is this going to change? Are they now going to make it freely downloadable? Not sure why they did not do 3.5 as well as 3i as they are virtually the same. Give the basic system away free and sell the add on vMotion/HA etc. Would be very interested if we can get 3i onto some of the blades at work. Got 3.5 installed on one but but thats all due to the CPU cost.
  2. There is now a UK supplier of a module which is a straight plugin loom and gives you steering wheel control too - The supplier is called InCarTech. Rob
  3. Migtht be interested to go along to this one. To do the track time do you need a helmet?
  4. I think just to say "Oh you want fuel econnomy don't drive a Z" is a stupid comment I would much rather be able to own a Z knowing if I drive sensibly most of the time and get a decent MPG out of it and I can then odd blast here or there when I want than just have to say OK I'll get a Diesel. Also the amount of miles people do changes - you might buy a car planning to do less miles then find you need to do more and would understandably want to try everything you can to keep the car than go for a lesser one. That said I think the Z is fairly good for a high performance car. I get 22MPG average which is not bad considering its a 10 minute drive to work. As soon as I do trips on the motorway its up to 30 mark. Its suprising how many other cars are less efficient and not really any better (RX8) or much slower but not really that much more efficient only 2/3MPG.
  5. They can fine you on the spot if they want £30/60? If you get caught multiple times (by the same cop) then they may submit to have the plate taken off you (rare but have heard it happen)
  6. Sorry - never really liked the whole stretched tyre look on the dub scene let along on a Z. The rims look very 'german' to me and don't really fit the jap car. I wouldn't like to go near any curbs with those on.
  7. But it does not matter what sort of tyres you have front or back or the same you are going to have this feeling what ever and you will be used to it i.e. Best tyres possible front & back - you will get used to really good grip all round and will start to drive to make the most of it Medioka tyres front & back - here you would find the balance totally different to the set above so would learn to drive to it Different tyres front & back - again its just another combination that you would adjust to. It would not be a sudden "Oh not its raining whats happening" because you would get used to the felling, just as you would if you changes all the tyres (unless you stuck to the same tyres all the time)
  8. Yup and it gets a fairly impressive time
  9. Does anyone know what paint colour is the closest match for the original standard 6 spoke allow wheels? i.e. this style
  10. Hey - It can't hurt to ask
  11. there was a thread about the ebay ones somewhere discussing the guage of cable used and how effective it is any links to said thread - can't seem to find it?
  12. If all you need the loom for is to provide power to the unit the Micra loom will provide this. You will then just need to cut into the speaker lines and cable these as you see fit or run RCAs to your amps.
  13. Interesting report. You would be suprised how good those hay bails are at stopping cars. They are fairly solid. The cars are going 'fast' but not really fast. Last year an Aston went off at speed and the bails well and truely did thier job trashing the car. I thought the show overall was fairly good. Thought the Nissan stand was fairly medoka. Nothing special really. A car in a big baloon and a few cars on a hard standing area. Shame they did not have a right hand car on display, specially when its the same car they are going to be using at the Motorshow
  14. Its just a case of walking up to the counter with the form when you don't have a renewal and they will give you a new tax disk. It even lets you do it online - checks you want to do it but will let you ... "A new licence is not due for this vehicle until: 01 05 2008 PLEASE BE AWARE - THERE IS A CURRENT VALID TAX DISC IN FORCE FOR THIS VEHICLE. IF YOU PROCEED, THE DISC THAT WILL BE ISSUED WILL START FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE EXISTING MONTH RATHER THAN THE START OF NEXT MONTH. If you apply for a tax disc today the Licence Start Date on the tax disc will be: 01 03 2008 "
  15. Looks like there is a fairly simple work around. You can tax a car twice so depending when your tax is due if like me its the first month of the new tax then I can just tax my car for 12 months in March - 1 month early i.e. i would have a month overlap and loose 210/12 = £17.50 but I would be saving £210 by taxing it at the old rate i.e. £193 better off
  16. Looks really well made.... .....but IMO I would never do an install like that in something like a Corsa - Would always do a stealth install so they are not so obvious. Liable to get a smashed window which is more hastle than its worth
  17. I think you are looking at it the wrong way - it makes no mention of it NOT affecting them! Its very clear on the Budget page of the DVLA site - "New, smaller bands will be introduced from 1 April 2009 (for cars registered after 1 March 2001)" http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroo ... /DG_073093
  18. The new tax rules are for ALL cars post Sept? 01! - Obivously you have the perfect timing on tax renewal dates I beleive pre-06 cars go to £300 next year, and £440 the year after. Thats what lots of people thought (me include) but it did not get actioned. Its straight to £440 as confirmed yesterday

  20. After the lovely government confirmed today that they are not changing the proposed 'green' tax scheme they have come up with I have wondered what peoples thought are on the following.... My tax expires the end of Mar 09. This means I will be the first month of the new rate. As the 350z is > 255 co2 it means the next 12 month tax is going to be £440 In Feb/March I am proposing. Register the car SORN Apply for a return of due tax Once refunded apply for 12 months tax which will be at the old rate i.e. £210 saving £230 - if I can borrow another car to use it should not be an inconvenience so why not?
  21. Yup 265 is still too small on the back. Remember Standard is 225/45/18 & 245/35/18 For 19" wheels you want Front - 245/35/19 (0.8% bigger from factory) Back - 275/35/19 (0.4% bigger from factor) Total 0.4% difference Front-Back Your proposed setup Front - 245/35/19 (0.8% bigger from factory) Rear - 265/35/19 (1.4% smaller from factor) Total 2.2% difference Front-Back
  22. Nice Skills....but 6x9s
