  1. +1 when I first got my Zed I had a play with a modded Leon Cupra I knew which was putting out 280HP+ and he was very close to me in terms of speed, he just lost out top end. VAG engines are very easy to tune, come forged from the factory, so just keep cranking the boost up, good intake and exhaust and away you go
  2. Yeah none of us like to consider it! But my list was more typical costs that people can have. The first track day I did with a mate, he killed his tyres and brakes (well almost) which resulted in him replacing them much quicker than before. I wouldnt want a member to budget only £150-£200 for a track day to then find they need to outlay another £500 the day after to replace bits, which they dont have and the car ended up being off the road. Go easy and its pretty cheap, go hard and you will have extra costs
  3. Mine was more of a conservative estimate. Best case, if you dont care for insurance, then yes a couple of hundred quid, espcially if you go gentle on the tyres and brakes. Worst case is you knacker the pads, discs, tyres, fuel and maybe crash
  4. +1 - just get on and drive
  5. As the others have said, spacers and springs for a start. You wont have to fit camber/toe kits, some cars get away with it depending on how aggressive you want the camber, but be prepared to need a kit just in case
  6. aboard Mike Look forward to see how you get on with the 370z. As the other Mike has said, ZMANALEX and our other traders should be able to sort you out the bits you want
  7. You couldnt have one even if you wanted Good to see this kind of R&D going in the 370z so early on though, should be interesting times ahead when they crack the VVTL and can remap it all properly. I thought they had? I know Mark had one on the dyno recently... Not heard any updates on it recently. I know you can map them with UpRev, but not heard they've cracked the VVEL (sorry typo before). They were messing with AFRs and timing last I heard. Last update I saw on it was they had some cold start probs which had been fixed, but no update since then. Will be interesting to see what Mark can do if VVEL has been cracked, its apparently a very impressive system with what it does monitoring all sorts and changing the lift and duration to suit - most of which is above my head apart It seems the engine responds well to breathing mods, much better than the 350z, giving quite a boost with no remap. Remaps could bring the AFR right on and advance the timing a bit, but the gains werent anywhere near that of just fitting the mods (intake/exhaust)
  8. Yeah thats why mine ended up with doubled up bits, just over the wheelwells mainly as they are the big culprit. There are also some bits forward of the seat in the footwells that are quite thin and easily accessible if you are looking for new areas to use up what you have left Good to hear its made a difference
  9. The problem you now face is that you will be forever chasing the never ending noise. You may well cut the noise in half, but the noise that remains will bug you forever! I had the same problem when trying to silence PCs a few years ago. I tried silent fans, case sound deadening, and watercooling. I got it to a point where I had it all watercooled and it needed no fans, but I could still hear the pump vibrating and electonic noise. It never ends Sound deadening will make a difference, but make sure you are selective with where you apply it. Tapping the pannels will tell you which ones are thin and reverberating sound. Dont deaden everywhere, it can just add un-needed weight. These days I just turn the music up
  10. I beleive they are usually around the £150 mark, but you probably want track insurance and then petrol on top of that. I think most factor in about £500 for a full day with all wear and tear inc.
  11. Sold it private? If so their price aint too bad, looks like what you'd get at a dealer, which is quite good given they are usually vultures!
  12. Good question, sure it will be posed when someone over here wants to try it!
  13. Interesting to hear that 2 layers of deadening hasnt made much difference. It was very obvious when I did mine that the exhuast was a lot quieter and so was the road noise. It did highlight that the door area needed doing too though. I guess it depends which noises you are sensative to compared to the ones it removes, and also which tyres you are using, as if its still Stones they make a right racket.

  15. It really does depend on the car. If its less than 3yrs old, then they tend to be ok, but older than that and they take the mick really. But whos to stop them, they're there to make a profit, the only people that lose out are the mugs that accept the offer. I got an offer on my Leon which was higher than the dealer trade in offer, so I showed it to the dealer and got them to up theirs, so it can work out alright Just dont expect a decent price, they are easy and convinient, not guarenteed to be a good price.
  16. I think the price should take car of that, or at least I hope so. Saying that, just look what happened to Jays
  17. Thanks for your reply. Yes I agree. I am going to leave my standard cats on just to be safe. I don't mind missing out on the 5 extra bhp top end you'd get with decats. It's strange as to why the Nismo Y-pipe causes so many issues with hfc. Some say it is the lack of flex but strange it doesn't seem to affect other brands as much. Yeah I think everyone finds it strange (myself included) as to why Nismo Y seems to have problems with cats. I must admit I thought Adam had a longer list of cats that worked, as did my350z.com, I didnt realise the list they didnt work with was so long, I thought there were just a few you shouldnt use instead. Just go with standard cats and be happy with just driving the car
  18. Looks good bud, definately tidies it up a bit I see Andy is camera shy
  19. Dont know how many of you have seen this, but it certainly looks like an interesting take on a supercharger for the 370z. They have their own custom plenum, using an air to water intercooler inside it, which means they can use a much smaller intercooler up front but cool the air much better. Seems like a nice neat compact design, cant wait to see someone (in the States!) install it. Its still in development, but not far off production by the sounds of it. Also has both TB's on the same side to make the pipe routing easier. Certainly looks like an interesting idea. Read more on their blog - http://blog.stillen.com/2010/01/370z-g3 ... ogress-rd/
  20. None of the other versions out there already have engine tweaks, only the Nismo has performance upgrades to take it to 350HP, but AFAIK thats just a new exhaust and slight ECU tweaks, the same power can be had from just upgrading the exhaust and intakes yourself. As we dont know the full UK specs we cant possibly say what its going to be, but going by the rest of the world, the changes will only be cosmetic.
  21. I can feel a 1 day ban coming on Only one day, do it properly man
  22. Not that I've heard of, but thats all in hand too This car responds well to intakes and exhuast which the 350z doesnt.
  23. Good job it looks like its JDM only then
  24. A few more pics for you guys, from our US and German cousins. Dont read into the interior spec of these, its different in the States and Germany to here I was going to wait until confirmation of the UK spec, but what the hell, you guys love pics and these are freely out on the net And the red JDM one:
