  1. No. I never need to exceed the national speed limit.
  2. Yes, I am aware that it is type 2 that is needed for an auto, but I wondered why on that site there was a specifc, and much more expensive, version for the 350Z. Seems like a rip-off, since American sites are advertising them at the same price as for most other Japanese cars.
  3. Can anybody explain the significant price differences for the 350Z application here? And if, like a fair number of people on here, you have a JDM auto box, would the standard type 2 version work? http://www.temple-tuning.co.uk/hks-spee ... e-90-c.asp
  4. GM is also known as Silverstone, mainly in the USA.
  5. I thought brillo pads were made of steel wool?
  6. Look forward to seeing the pics. Where did you get them?
  7. Yes, but not the best part of the city to be walking through at night, IMO.
  8. Cara, The Radisson is very nice, though not as cosy as Jury's. My office is a couple of blocks along the street from the Radisson, and I never take the Z into the city. If at all possible I travel in by train. There is an NCP just round the corner in Oswald Street, but I would be wary of leaving my car there overnight. There is a better car park in Waterloo Street, just a bit further away, but I don't know how much they would charge for an overnight stay. The Hilton has its own underground car park, which I believe is well looked after, but again I have no personal experience of it. The Marriott, nearby, has a decent amount of parking space at the back of the hotel, but it's not as nice a place to stay as the Radisson. Maybe some of the other locals like Jay or Adam can make better suggestions. Final thought - why not just hire a small car for the weekend and then you won't spend your evening worrying about the Z? Best of luck, Jim
  9. Did you remove the Nissan badge from the engine cover to paint it, or did you just mask around it?

    Cup holder

It keeps me out of mischief.

    Cup holder

Yes - might have been safer to PM! I wanted to remove the panel in order to mount a power socket in it, as the JDM panel doesn't have one built in. Next time I have a problem like that I might take you up on your offer to pop up to Perth and get your help directly. Cheers again, mate. Jim

    Cup holder

Thanks, Lee. As you can see, I've now managed it. That's an excellent guide, by the way. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Cup holder

Alex - thanks for taking the trouble to reply again - it's much appreciated. I confess I didn't realise that you had to take the cup holder out completely - that puts a whole different complexion on things. Can I ask one more daft question - where is the clip to release the holder from the dash? Edit - ignore that last question - found the clip and the holder is out. Thanks. Now to get a torch to see this damned screw! Got it! God, that was so simple eventually - I now feel really stupid. Thanks for being to patient, Alex.

    Cup holder

Okay let's take a step back. What panel are you actually trying to remove.? The panel above the passenger footwell which incorporates the cup-holder. Sorry I can't describe it any better. I found, and have undone, the two screws at the bottom of the panel, and have pulled out the clips up the side and along the top, but there is something still holding it in place either above or behind the cup holder. I don't want to use too much force in case I damage something. A picture may help......

    Cup holder

Well, I tried again and I still can't get the panel off. I have undone all of the other clips and there only remains something around the cup holder which is still holding it in. I can't see any obvious screw heads behind it, so I am really needing some expert guidance to get the job done. HELP!!

Thanks, Alex. I'll have another go at it later today.

    Cup holder

If you apply a few sharp taps to the cup holder then it should release. Failing that apply a bit of finger pressure while levering out gently with a small flat blade screwdriver. Yes you are correct that there is a screw behind it, but if you follow the above then all should be well and there would be no need to break it. Cheers, guys, managed to unblock the jam and get the cup holder to move in and out. Damned if I can see where that screw is, though, to allow me to remove the panel. Lee reckoned there was a guide somewhere for removing this panel - anybody know where to find it?
  18. +1 - don't know how I missed these.
  19. Lots of us have. Don't knock till you've tried it.

    Cup holder

The fold-out cup holder on the lower passenger-side dash panel is jammed in and I think there is a screw behind it which has to be removed to take off this panel. I think I am going to have to break the cup holder to get it to come out, so I will need a replacement part. Anybody got one?

    Missfire?

I might just do that - been thinking about it for a while anyway. Is it easy to find the socket to plug it in? Under the dash, right hand side mate, you can't miss it. Found it OK - thanks. The check engine light is not actually on, and the car seems to be ticking over fine this morning, so I'm not going to do any ore about it just now. However, I think investing in a code reader for the future might be a good idea, especially since it can be used with other cars as well.

    Missfire?

I might just do that - been thinking about it for a while anyway. Is it easy to find the socket to plug it in? It's a JDM import - is that a problem, or do they conform to the OBDII standard?
