  1. it was the school that pulled from the woodend estate if you know it.
  2. Cant you get this pyramid in the boot space rather than on show?? I got my rear window smashed and my 6x9's taken from my golf back in the day. Sounds fun though! lol i had thiw conversation with him, but his boot space was already filled with the worlds largest twin cone sub box that filled his entire boot told him when he wires it up to put it on bullet connectors so that he could lift the parcel shelf out. ibeleive he keeps old cloths in the back to put over the sub to hide it. i tried really hard to go for a stealth install for that exact reason, but i could not sway him. it will be one of those lessons he learns the hard way. as for the job, i quite enjoyed it, took to after school sessions and i would have been around anyway. i like a challenge. the other teachers didn't want to know. so close to the end of term they all like to go home early. as for having access to tools, its why i love my job. i get paid to play in a workshop, and i have acess to vinyl cutters, laser cutters, forges, furnaces, range of hand tools, casting facilities, big power tools, and i don't have to buy them
  3. looks good, i'm tempted to go doen the red route like the audi's
  4. its a bit of a long story but it'll make you chuckle. i had a 6th former come and see me last week; told me his parcel shelf had snapped and could i help him make a new one. thought what the hell will only take 20 min and a piece of MDF. any ways he turned up on the monday with his parcel shelf the first issue - it wasn't broken second issue - he started to explain that he wanted to mount 8 6x9 speakers into his new parcel shelf and that he had designed it all out. he seemed like a nice enough lad so i thought what the hell, i can't say no to an automotive project however much its not to my taste. anyway i asked him what it was going into, he then sheepishly told me it was for his corsa 1.2, once i had stopped laughing i sat the lad down and tried to educate him a bit on sound. managed to talk him done to 4 speakers with the possibility of adding 2 more at a later date. we ended up building 2 triangles to mount on either side of the parcel shelf with 2 speakers in each. its not to my taste but its an improvement on his original idea he wanted a toblerone shape all along the rear. i have managed to salvage some rear view for him. any ways he is happy, over the moon to be precise and we've even agreed to do some vinyl work on it once its sprayed up. i'll post up pics when he brings it back. he's got 4000 watts of power speaker wise, we had a good chat and i really enjoyed working with him, i'm hoping to convince him for his next car to go for quality over quantity.
  5. probably easier to just change the headunit
  6. with regards to the teacher who just got charged - i dno't know the full story but looking at the picture of the lad in IC i don't think he was an angel by a long shot (call it teacher intuition but we are very good at spotting difficult kids before they even open their mouth, or just by looking at a picture). but the teacher over stepped the mark when he assaulted the kid. i've been pushed to breaking once, and i turned the power in the workshop off and just walked out. saw my head of department on the way out and said i need to take a breather or i'm gunna do something regrettable. took a breather for 10 and then went back. my head had removed said child and i started again. i was fairly new in then, and these days i've got a lot better at difusing a situation before hand. just have to be a smarter talker than they are. you can't hit them but you can verbally put them in there place. i'd never belittle a student in front of a class but i am more than capable of going toe to toe with one verbally and i usually win. as for the parenting - BM you've proved society wrong and i salute you i love my job and work in a very good school so the Chav elelment is low. but i did my initial teaching experience in coventry in a very rough school working in the behavioural management unit with excluded and suspended kids, now thats an eye opener. and remember not all chavs are bad, i've had some good conversations with some in a pub. remember a chav is not just for christmas, if you carve them properly thwy last all the way through to new year
  7. look forward to seeing the fascia back on. but looks superb
  8. i find jobd like this addictive. you'll start with just that board saying, once i've tested it i'll stop for the night. then you see it and think, i'll just do one more board, and before you know it, its 3 in the morning
  9. the urge to swear and to tell you all to go and swivel is very tempting, but its not the end of the world.
  10. i've upset my wife, she keeps finding me with her hair dryer working on car bits, and she's banned me from uisng it
  11. all parts are easily upgradeable. you can get re covered seats done in leather for a monkey. head units can be changed. i went for the GT as i wanted the higher spec. like heated seats and cruise control.
  12. i just bought one of those tape adapters that has a tape with a wire out of it. got it in sainsburys for a fiver. i wanted to listen to my iphone in the car to play music, but can't afford a new headunit at the moment. have been really impressed with the tape adapter quality has been excellent and no hissing. i did learn that you need to turn the volume down on the MP3 otherwise it sounds terrible. but on a low volume, you can then control it through the steerin wheel and it sounds great. can tehn go as loud as i want and i still have all the bass and treble i want. do remember that i have a hearing problem so maybe not the best judge of sound. but for a short term work around i've been really impressed.
  13. mine went back in with a bit of double sided tape and i did blob a bit of glue on the pins at the rear, but its not a nessessity
  14. the pins often have glue around them on the outside. you should be able to scrape that off. then use a hair dryer on a heat setting and heat it up. then with a screw driver wrapped in a cloth you should be able to gently prise it off.
  15. nice to see more people on here. and that things are opening up down south. always felt that them tup norf had all the motrosports places.
  16. put your hand into the gear gaitor. and lift from the back (furthest away from the dials.) it should un pop. from there you can get mole grips on to the shaft and another set on the knob (ohh err missus) twist and the knob shouuld come off. just needs enough to crack the loctite. the hole trim should then lift off.
  17. we're off to france for 10 days in july/august time. will be about 20 min from lake geneva and the swiss border.
  18. if its registerd after april 2006 then its £410 i think i know its £400 and something.
  19. had this with the MR2, i stick around a car till it gets to chavvy and then move on. its usually the price that forces it. if Txt lnguge bcomes popular im off
