This question has arisen partly to do with my change in car and hence the change in headlights, but one i think is relevant for Zed owners as the headlights change between pre and post 06 350Z's what is the difference between HID lights and Projector lights; are they the same thing? i think its a quesiton lots of people wonder but never ask for fear of feeling silly; as i have no fear of my stupidity, i thought i'd ask. the question was also raised when i put headlight converters on for going to france, the instructions specifically pointed out that you fitted the stickers differently depending on if your car had HID's or projector lights. so the questions: Whats the differnece between HID's and projecotors? Are they the same thing? are projectors better?

not had time to clean it, thats 2000 miles of dirt on it, blame the wet weather not had an open spot to sort it with out it pi$$ing down

don't worry its level, i checked it with a tape measure. and a spirit level must be my photography skills. also here is the intake as well Along with the exhaust i also managed to fit my comptech CAI, really nice piece of kit, lots of bits to it, but the instructions once read a few times weren't too bad to understand and work out. put it all back together and the engine seems fine. (i was worried i'd plug it all back together wrong when i took all the Vac lines off. also repainted the lettering properly this time had to move the horn box and the air valve, have relocated them to the chassis next job is to powder coat the cam cover as mine is very dirty and flaking in one corner. if i try and clean it, the paint will probably come off.

got some fitted pictures as well, just have to forgive the filthy car,

well here a quick video of mine fitted, i've done a brief comparison against stock there is a slight rattle at 5500-6500 which i'm fairly certain is the cat on its way out, so i shall be swapping it out with a hi flow or a de cat in the near future, and then i'll put up a new vid.

only just heard jay, sorry to see you loose someone so close. she was by the looks of it an extremely talented woman. one to be proud of. and a fitting tribute.

yep it was the one thing missing from the Stook, and that was the noise, but it was the same with the MR2, just wanted a little pick me up to add to the theatre of driving. CAI was all to do with correcting a bogging down issue, and its done just that

off to KTEC in the morning to get it sorted, gave up on the nuts in the end, and the rubbers were stiffer than a a teenager on viagra, only got 1 off and nearly gave my self a hernia in the process. As for the exhaust the central Can is more for tuning the sound, just like the HKS on the 350Z which has 2 chambers; one on each can. and gains wise i think are minimal. alot of the talk on S2Ki about this exhaust is that it doesn't really gain anything, but what it does give is probably one of the best sounding exhaust notes for the car, without making your ears bleed. i toyed with the invidia for the car and it sounds unbeliable, but on a day to day basis, it would be to loud, i think its even louder than the K1 without baffles in. tuning wise on the S2k its pretty easy from what i can tell, bolt on mods can and do make a difference, but to really improve it then a remap is in order. not found out if they can remap the current ECU or if it would need a piggyback ECU. basically the drive by wire system sames as on the Zed didn't come in till 2005, so i don't have the issues that the newer ones and the Zed have. oh so true about on here and the only option being 06 box and true dual, on the s2k there are so many options, manifold wise i will probably do something but what i don't know, buddy club is good. but i want to match in pipe diameters with the HKS and probably get a decat or hi flow at some point. the big bonus with the S2k engine is that i can actually get to the manifold and changing it should be no more than an hour. compared to the 12 hours for the zed's too.
-
single manifold single exhaust have to keep twin tips as otherwise the car would look like its missing something with an exhaust cut out being empty. yep, and selling the zed paid of the debts paid for the car and had some left over to sort out the exhaust and air box. bonus I think that was just the justfication, I dont think Rich liked the 350 that much, I think to be honest i didn't; just didn't really click with the car, engine never sounded right, and lots of little niggles that just spoilt it for me. much happier with the new beast. have already taken the standard video shot, will do a comparison vid when fitted. was interesting to fit, but not to bad. as for base dyno etc not really that bothered. i mod for fun and for noise, car already feels great. only reason i'd dyno it for the numbers is for pub banter etc. i shall be relying on my highly tuned but dyno for the results. with the air box fitted it has cured the lumpy idle and occasional kangarooing that it gets sometimes. as for the exhaust, i've just come in from trying to fit it. can;t get the 3 bolts on the CAT undone, might make a little trip to my garage friends for themto remove the old one. just not enough space under the axle stands to work.

credit where credits due who ever did the work did a good job of combining the 2, as they were never meant to go together. the skills need aren't easy, alot of fabrication must have gone on to make that work, especially fitting in and wiring in the headlights.

Plenum removal UPDATE - Back on + silly mistake!

the TB is horribly sensitive. what ever you do don't move/touch the butterfly valve. car ECU sensors everything can have a habit of going into a right spasm; and throw a hissy fit. -
pre 06 wont hit 300bhp with an exhaust and de cat pipes. would you notice the difference without them... apart from the noise... not really uprev will give your car a breath of life; not so much in the power, but the response and feel of the car. abbey is well worth the trip

i'm afraid matts right cars are girls. they are tempremental, break down at the smallest thing, and at their best when being ridden hard. wait for the beating now

wd40 won't help, doubt even plusgas would as its not rusted. the throttle body allen bolts are put in place with a tiny amount of thread lock if i remember rightly so the first crack will do it, after that takeing them on and off is easy. also when you do the main bolts up use a torque wrench as the settin gis very low, they actually tighten up after a few heat cycles. if you over tighten them, and then run a few heat cycles you can make them very hard to remove or worse. -
i doubt heat would correct that, its a fill sand and spray job that. but if your di#noc wrapping it, you could do it yourself and then wrap over the top. no one would ever know.

and makle sure nothing is in the way or not seated properly or you could crack the plenum like husky did when he fitted a plenum spacer. -
wicked wheels can be good, a few reccomended the done near croyden i think. near jerry. other option is get all 4 powdercoated. if you have 1 done it won't be powder coated it will be wet paint job. wicked wheels i think is about £40 to repair a scuffed wheel. £75 per wheel to refurb the whol surface. i had all 4 of mine powder coated for £200

facelifts and new models tend to run on a 3 to 5 year cycle. 370 only really came out last year so probably another 2 years till a facelift.
-
nice exhaust, had it on my blade silver as well. not many of them about in the UK, nice piece of kit.

yeah will be good, last time i saw you was at Ace; haven't confirmed my place with the S2k club yet need to do that soon.

nissan dealerships seem to have a real mix, but more often than not they never seem that helpful. i always found toyota were good, especially the chelmsford lookers branch, and i'm rediscovering the joys of honda the one in ipswich has been really good; bend over backwards style. although reading the forums they seem to have their mix of dealers as well. my guess is with the recent slump they have more numbers available than they planned. production figures would have been put in places a long time ago and now they need to shift them. by selling you lot new 370's they get the old stock of 350's which are now easier to shift due to the lower prices of them. their cost of buying has gone down due to the 350 price drop so they have more to play with hence they can afford the cut.
