  1. The "standard"/factory fitted rays for the 350z are 18" and the normal spacer sizes are 20mm front & 25mm rear. I've no experience with this but I seem to recall reading that you can lower the car by 30 mm and get no rubbing even with these spacers! A common upgrade to the 350z is to fit 370 rays which are 19" and require a spacer up front to clear the brembo calipers. A picture would be best to see exactly what wheels you have
  2. Friend of mine picked me up last night in a car I'd not thought about before. A LHD 07 Corvette with a 6L V8. 430bhp and 550ft'lbs. It shifted but was still refined enough around town, Sub 20k for a low milage import that's barely run in. He was getting 17mph having a little play and apparently 30 on the motorway so not too far off the Zeds!
  3. I live near Coalville in Leicestershire but am from Coventry so spend a lot of time there as well! Davey_83 above is the midland meet organiser and puts on a good few meets a year. I've driven mine in freezing conditions and it's all been fine. Caught me out a couple of times when it's been perticulally slippy and I've been feeling playful. I think there's quite a lot of pedal travel so it's easy to control the throttle.
  4. Hello :). Are you a fellow Midlander or just picked up the car from around here? Sam
  5. Mine went up to 37ish once in on the M5 (when it was one long 50 limit). I was getting too much enjoyment watching it go up .1 every 3/4 miles xD I think 45/50 gives you the best return, I think you might even be able to touch 40mpg by hypermiling. There would be alot of angry Pepe behind you mind!
  6. There is a large blurred area around EV's I was reading the other day that in Hong Kong it's better for the environment to run a new ICE than an EV. As they have no natural resources close by, to get the fuels to the power stations was more polluting than filling up with unleaded... Yet these cars were still subsidised.
  7. I was seriously considering doing the swap to my series Landy a couple of years ago, it seemed most swaps were made by taking the drivetrain from a scrapped Nissan leaf or two but this was only giving maybe 60 miles of range (retaining the 4speed gearbox and transfer case). Buying a motor & cells was around £10'000 at the time) If only the government gave the same kind of grants for upgrading to electric as they do for buying new. Is it still a £5000 grant?
  8. I would love an electric vehicle, would proberbly go for a motorbike first as I could still keep an 'ICE' bike for touring/weekends away and not run out of space. (I'm not ready to fully commit) My main problem with them though is almost all electric vehicles are hideous, there seems to be a dedicated effort from every manufacturer to make electric cars stand out as being electric/futuristic in there styling. I would be more interested in a conversion kit, and I'm sure I can't be alone. I can't justify spending 40k on a new car, but if there was a electric motor and battery pack I could buy to convert my second car for £3/4k I'd be seriously contemplating it. Please feel free to delete my comment if it's not what the thread should be about! XD
  9. Having a bike to save money can work though. If you don't count the cost of getting a licence as everyone should have one anyway Helmet -£70 Gloves -£30 Leather jacket -£40 Leather trousers when I can be bothered -£0 Boots - £90 They say that a bike requires 4x the maintenance of a car, but if your good with a spanner and buy parts from breakers it can be cheap as you like. I proberbly spend £100 a year repairing mine as it has no cats, no abs, no fuel injection, no emissions test at MOT time... Just fork seals, spark plugs & service items really. I bought my current 02 fzs1000s for £1100, £120 insurance and £86 tax a year. It gets over 55mpg and 0-60 in under 3 seconds. I've just taken it 1400+ miles around Scotland and it didn't miss a beat. Its got 61k on the clock but still runs well. Buy a bike you don't mind crashing and you won't even have to repair it when you fall off because everyone falls off atleast 4/5 times when they start riding!
  10. I use a gallon a day to get to work and back and I don't think that's overly bad. 12ish miles and 40 minutes each way. Everyone has their own perspective. Just like stoofer above, the Zed is my most efficient car. I try not to commute in the Land rover much as its lucky to get 12mpg on a steady run at 40mph (52 is flat out and untollorable). But i always get to work with a big smile on my face!
  11. Hello. 1) Sounds like a noisy clutch release bearing. I can hear mine when I park next to a fence/wall, apparently most Japanese cars are known for this and it makes the noise for a very long time before it needs to be changed. If it's only quiet I wouldn't worry about it. 2) No Zed experience with this, but my old 1.7 Astra used to clunk exactly like this, I also read that was an ABS check. 3) I sometimes hear this but I'm under the impression it's something sticking/catching on the Pedro itself. 4) 2nd gear takes most of the abuse on any motor, so normally is a bit harder/more worn. These cars are notorious for a notchey 1st to 2nd especially when cold. A common fix is to replace the gearbox oil and add some Molyslip. (As far as I am awads Nissan don't say the gearbox oil is a service item so it wouldn't have been changed even with a full dealer history) 5) Again no Zed experience but it sounds like a normal transmition whine, the quicker you go the more road noise there is to cover it up. They are a very rudimentary car, If its not vibrating more than normal I wouldn't worry about this either. Hope this helps, Sam
  12. Does dirt beading count? Perks of living my a quarry... Every time the wind blows this way!
  13. I like to go to J&S Accessories in Nottingham for my gear, it's a motorcycle clothing shop but we're all petrol heads (it's a chain so there might be one Futher north). They have a large selection of helmets etc. I got my last AGV K3 helmet for £70 as it was the last one in store. Nice and light and very quiet on wind noise
  14. Won't be coming as A. Live a bit too far away B. Might be touring Scotland on the bike Looks like an amazing route. Have driven/ridden these roads myself a few times and on a sunny day they are just breathtaking.

  16. Is your car a UK model or an import? As far as I am aware all pre-facelift UK cars came with a 35W HID dip beam (projector) and a Halogen main (reflector). Facelift models had a 55W dip and main (in the same projector)
  17. I'd say the opposite. Compared to my old Astra people treat me like a saint. I'm always being waved out of junctions and getting flashed to pull Infront of them on the motorway etc. I think alot of it could be down to the colour and any mods done to the car. Mine is a sunset with no external mods, it's not too much louder than stock also. If it was black with a spoiler and a bodykit I double people would be as friendly xD
  18. Thanks everyone, enjoyed today and it was good to put some faces to names/cars. Even made it home before the rain!
  19. Came for the car... Stayed for the shenanigans! Have loved reading this thread over the last few weeks!
  20. Have thought of this as a little run If anyone's up for it. If you fancy anything else please pipe up The Packe arms in Hoton is another nice pub with a large car park. About 25 miles (44mins) and 90% lanes. It used to be part of my commute to work when I lived near Melton!
  21. Enjoyed the last one! September is getting busy but I'll pencil myself in 1. davey_83 2. 14N 3. Andy_Muxlow +1 maybe 4. SHEZZA +1 maybe 5. AntelopeSam 6.
  22. It's near Austin just off the main road a46. I'd say park in the gravel car park as it's futher from the pub so we'll be less in the way.
  23. Fitted my Y-Pipe today. I remembered this thread as I was doing it. A friend of mine works at a WV dealership and let me come in to use the ramps this afternoon. (No crawling on the floor). The bolts came off easily after wire brushing the crud off and a blast with oil. Only hand tools were needed. The cat bolts that came with the Cobra fitting kit were too small.... But that was the only hitch. Good luck if you haven't had a go at yours yet!
  24. Not everything! I've always wanted a Humber Super Snipe. There not too expensive but I couldn't afford to run one as a daily. Would love to see Jag bring back some of these classic lines. But saying that a Jag reproduction might be as unreliable as the original...
  25. Spotted this car in Coalville this afternoon at the KFC/Maccys roundabout. Wondering if there on here?
