  1. It's possible I guess, but at no point has it had a Rep of Ireland plate on it, just some different NI variants. But something like that would possibly explain the V5 note. It was PDI'd in Preston 2005, manufactured 2005, and given "PE05" plates to begin with. About four months later it changed to NI plates. It's a weird one. I've Googled it a lot but can't find anything quite like it, and there's a lot of disagreement of whether NI would count as an import or not. I'll post what the DVLA reckon once they get back to me. Right now I'm unsure whether it counts as an import for insurance purposes, because it's a UK model PDI'd and sold in the UK originally...! (On a side note - I looked at a JDM 350Z too before buying this one. That one DIDN'T show up as an import on HPI, despite having the short JDM chassis number, being a Fairlady Z, with the square reg recess etc all on it. But to my mind, had I bought it I'd have insured it as an import, because it clearly was an import)
  2. Yes - the car is on NI plates now It's a weird one - NI is part of the UK so wouldn't have thought this car would class as an import, especially since its first plates were Preston ones in March 2005, the same year it was manufactured I've contacted the DVLA for more info, hopefully they can explain what's going on here
  3. The recess is a normal UK one - it's a GT spec model, nothing about it suggests it's a JDM model in any way. V5 says date of first registration in the UK is 14/03/2005 I'm also leaning towards it being something to do with it first being registered in Northern Ireland. Which I didn't think would flag the car up as an import. I might contact the DVLA and see if they can explain it.
  4. I've only noticed this today - on my V5 in the notes section it says: 1. WAS REGISTERED/USED OVERSEAS. DECLARED MANUFACTURED 2005. I can't understand this. The car was manufactured in 2005, and was sold (surely as new) by Chorley Nissan Preston, UK, in March 2005 with "PE05" plates. From what I can gather it immediately went to Northern Ireland and remained there until 2018, when it's come back to England. It's a UK-spec model, with a full VIN number that all matches up to being manufactured in 2005. How could this car have been registered new outside the UK? Am I missing something here?
  5. Looking for a good/very good condition 350Z manual OEM orange gearknob if anyone has one for a reasonable price? Edit: Found one
  6. I know these cars aren't exactly the most refined things, but I just thought hopefully someone on here can let me know how "normal" these sounds are for an 05 plate 350Z: 1. Cement mixer-ish noise when in neutral when not pressing the clutch pedal. The second you put the clutch pedal fully in the noise vanishes. From what I've read this is a common issue (and was present on another 350Z I looked at), and is related to a lightened flywheel. When I bought the car this noise wasn't present, and isn't always present (maybe 15% of the time it's not audible). 2. A quick scraping noise when first accelerating past ~10mph. Once past that speed the noise never comes back, even when braking to a stop and setting off again. I've heard this is an ABS test of some sort? 3. A clunk when pressing the clutch pedal in, only at low speeds. At 30mph+ gear changes are perfectly smooth with no clunking heard at all. This is probably the most worrying noise of them all. With the engine off there's no noise at all pressing the clutch pedal in and out. 4. A grind to get into second gear. All other gear changes are smooth. 5. A whine when travelling in first or second gear at 3000+rpm. Higher gears all sound fine. Are all these noises essentially normal? Basically crawling around town and around car parks I'm wary of the rattles and clunks, but once you get out onto an open road the car feels flawless.

    P1166 Error

Thanks all - I'll reset the code and see if it returns. I take it that it's reasonably safe to assume this isn't a major deal then?
  8. Had the 350 for a few months now with no issues (other than the gearbox grinding into second gear, but that's a common thing it seems!). Then randomly yesterday I get a check engine light. Did the pedal dance and it threw up P1166 and P1167. Today I tried it again, and it's just P1166 now. Either way they seem to refer to the exact same issue (?) - Heated O2 Sensor 2. Is this as simple as changing out the sensor for a new one? As far as I can tell the car has a stock exhaust, though it does seem a little louder than completely stock, it looks like nothings changed and it's definitely not been straight piped. From what I've read this code gets thrown up with modifications, but surely it'd have come up earlier if this was the case - I've done ~1500 miles now with no engine management light at all. Thanks for any help

    OEM oil cap

New 350Z owner here, just looking to put a few things back to stock on the car (air box already restored!) Does anyone know where I can get an OEM (or identical) oil filler cap? All I can see online are aftermarket ones and Nismo ones...
