  1. 42" waist, but it's more the width of the base bolsters, as the bolster bars on the standard seats dig into my thighs. Presumably the 38" waist thing is for the spacing of the side bolsters?
  2. The Braum Racing Elite seats look good in the white leather version: but the description does say 'Fits up to 38†waist' - I'd be interested to know how how firm a limit that is, or whether it can accommodate a lardier arse than that, as the base bolsters do look low ! Adrian??
  3. I'm of the same stature too... all this is rather disappointing - once again a car designed for small people! I like the look of these Recaros; other makes / styles all seem to have the exaggerated bolsters /supports that are frankly not required for most applications Oh well, thanks for all the replies - I guess I'll keep looking and will just have to get one of these in the mean time ! Cheers Draco
  4. Are the Recaro seats in the 370Z Nismo a full seat, or are they just Recaro backs on the standard base? From images I have seen it looks to be the second kind: Reason I'd like to know is the standard GT seats are a bit narrow in the base bolsters, making longer journeys a literal pain in the butt! The bolster bars are too high, even when I've wound the seat base as high as it will go, so I'm looking to get new seats. I like the look of the Recaro's and as they are fitted as OEM to the Nismo, means it should be a straight swap - depending on what the base is! Could a Nismo owner / someone in the know let me know Otherwise, anyone fitted these seats? What seat rail/base is available for fitting? Cheers Draco
  5. Decided on a quick clean today: Low pressure rinse, Snowfoam, High pressure rinse, Two bucket with AutoGlym bodywork shampoo, High pressure rinse, Chamois dry with AutoGlym Aqua Wax Finished with a blast along the local A road to dry the panel gaps - all in all, a good one!
  6. For your exhaust needs, check out LongLife Exhausts in Carshalton. For me, Dan did a full cat-back system based on the AAM 3" Competition (with a couple of style tweaks for my taste) for a bit more than half the price of the AAM. Dan is a good one, takes his time talking to you about what look and sound you want and works quickly. Finish quality is top notch and comes with an ownership lifetime guarantee. I love the result I got, both in looks and sounds - GRRrrrr !!!!!! Draco
  7. Tragic but freak incident. But on the subject of if modding a car is THAT dangerous - Ask any 200SX owner about running a car with blowing manifold gaskets ! Draco
  8. How about some version of green? Dark for the subtle look, acid for 'in yo face'
  9. One of these for my daily and one of these to annoy the neighbours on weekend mornings! though I will forgo the post-apocalyptic wasteland on the side!
  10. Only if it's a 300SL Gullwing - otherwise the answer would be neither !
  11. Citroen DS - First production car with disk brakes, hydro-pneumatic suspension & steering tracking headlights - in 1955 no less! Suck that Mercedes
  12. According to Yahoo Business Insider journo Matthew DeBord, our VQ lumps are the favoured engines of the business journo industry ?!?!? https://uk.yahoo.com/finance/news/nissan-makes-one-worlds-best-214514359.html Of course it's nice to have our choices affirmed by the media types, I just thought it was an odd piece to post! Enjoy..... Draco

  14. 2007: Was the 'Jelly mold on wheels' Mazda 323f 2017: Probably the year I go down with Zed'itus 2027: I can only hope it will be something like this: but it could equally be automotive zombie'ism:
  15. How about a completely different direction? It's likely that this is the way I will go after the Z. Fresh build is in your price range and they hold value better than any production car on the road.
  16. One place I know of where a creak can come from is the loop on the end of the seatbelt hanger arm. Mine squeaks and creaks when the loop turns on the swivel joint. It's not particularly loud, but given it's in your earhole, it gets persistently more annoying the longer you drive. Going to have to get some silicone spray for mine over the holiday. Draco
  17. They're ALL mental and likely will end up Interesting that most of the cars were BMW's - make of that what you will. The lesson for us sensible ppl is - use your power to accelerate, not speed. Draco
  18. I have just been in a similar situation to you - go for an Ark Grip, AAM 3" Competition or cat-back custom. I decided on a custom, as in talking with the owner of the fabrication garage, I could get the combined look of both the pre-made exhausts that I wanted for SIGNIFICANTLY less money - almost £400 less than the Ark and £800 less than the AAM(!) and get the right volume level for my preference. In fact, I am booked in to get some center silencer cans as I found the first configuration, while sounding awesome and the right tone, it was just too loud - and the fabrication garage is doing this for free .... well, as part of the original system costs. The benefit of a custom is exactly this: you can choose the volume and tone of the exhaust note and get details of personal preference just right (like can size, hang angles, exit tip finishes, etc), in combination with other exhaust components like HFC's or decats, without the up-front costs of a pre-fab - then possibly having to pay extra to chop into it, or finding a whole other system to get that 'just right' exhaust note you are looking for. If you do choose to go custom, I'd recommend the Longlife franchise - they are fabrication specialists and have workshops in Sussex and Surrey - as well as several members here (including me) having had systems from them up and down the country and being very satisfied with the quality of work and results. 19. The main thing I found moving from the 200 was the difference in power delivery - moving from a turbo where the power kicks in and rises quickly in mid range, to an NA where you need to wind it right up the rev range - was a weird transition and it nearly made me go and find another 200 to tune up! However, I had the 370 for a year now and, while I miss to 200's mid-range kick in the kidneys, the absolute power of the 370 even in standard tune is addictive to wind up and let loose! As above, the 370 is more refined and comfortable - and won't give you the off-the-shelf tune-ability the 200 has - but you will appreciate it once you get it going. Insurance for me is about the same as the 200 - I was and still am with Sky. Draco

  21. Agree with the above. I looked at 86, TT and 370 when deciding to move on from a 200SX. 86 was sooo gutless I though I was driving it wrong, as I was going from a turbo to NA. Went back for a another go to really try to abuse it and still it failed to respond where you thought it should - 2/3rd gear out of corners/roundabouts was very disappointing. It was struck off the list before I even left the dealership. TT was a nice place to be in, but to drive was lackluster - felt numb, no feedback from wheel or pedals, road noise was obtrusive for a gt. Again had a couple of go's but the lack of feel made me uncomfortable trying anything but normal driving. 370 was a whole different world - was a convert on my first drive in one, hence being here
  22. To set the Baseline - Wheels: Forged Rays 19" 9j et47 fr, 10j et30 r, no spacers Tyres: Michelin Pilot Super Sports 245/40 fr, 275/35 r Suspension: Standard springs & alignment Arches: Not rolled Front Rear Front Quarter
  23. Being sticklers for detail and finding that 'just right' part is what makes us modders get up in the morning - as well as occasionally reducing us to gibbering wrecks in the corner So I was surprised not to find a central thread showcasing that most crucial, and contentious, of styling aspects - wheel fitment. (as pointed out below, there is a thread for 350's, but not for 370's. Though the differences are slight, looks are all in the eye of the beholder and the differences can be significant in the fine details!) So, with all the different choices of wheel size, tyre profile and suspension setup - as well as owners preferences - the field is wide open for modders to make their mark in putting together a unique style that defines them, and maybe starts a whole movement. BUT ! What is your preference? - Big/small, wide/skinny, straight/on-the-slant ... How do you choose , without trying out all the various to find your right one? The easiest answer is - get others to pay the money first ! So, please post your wheel fitment images with the wheel size, tyre profile, suspension setup etc in the manner below - and see if you can inspire the next viewer to push their fitment beyond the bounds of the dreaded 'manufacturers specifications'
  24. Well, after the leak forced my hand I now have a fresh set of MPSS adorning my wheels. They do have some stretch to them, but compared to the Bridgestones, they look much better. The up-side of this, is now I have probably around 2 years to research and assess what wider fitment I will go for! Draco
